I installed the VMware-server application and created a virtual machine,
including a virtual hard disk to which 8GB was allocated. I then
installed a Linux distribution on the virtual machine. I was having
problems with the virtual machine and decided that the best thing to do
was to delete it

drive bootable. When I used it in a computer set up to boot from such a
drive, all worked as expected.

the size of the font in the Gnome things (if I can put it that way), but

Re my post of a few minutes ago: apologies for bothering people. I
decided to try making the mail subdirectory of the spool directory mode
01777 too, even though that wasn't mentioned in the Thunderbird error
message. It worked and my LogWatch mail's now in my leslie@(none) inbox.
