Michael, I'm wondering if something changed in 7.9.3 as well? After all
the issues I went through with Catalina on Mac MINI, I reverted back to
High Sierra from a TimeMachine backup, but installed 7.9.3 and did a
complete rescan. NO iTUNES, just my audio drives. There's a little
over 40,000 so

That's because the playlist indexing was broken before that. Broken as
in not working at all. Now it's broken as in "too slow under certain
circumstances"...

Actually, I've found the playlist with the entire library in it. It's
the one titled 'Downloaded :iTunes' which isn't visible in iTunes and
I've never noticed before as I mainly use the 'Not Played For Ages' and
'Never Played' ones. Should I delete it in LMS and see what happens?

was one of those things that takes ages the first time and then is
faster subsequently, but
