Not all NMES units can be used as TENS though, you have to see what the
specifications are for whatever machine you get/look into. The NMES units are
also much more expensive, so if you don't plan on using it to strengthen you
muscles then it may not be

I use a TENS and MNES machine (mine is combo, so I can use it either for Pain
relief with the TENS or for building muscle with the MNES settings). I got it
from a company that sells refurbished or extra medical equipement. The machine
I got is worth $800+, I got it for $230. The TENS works
When I was in rehab, there was a guy who went in the pool with his Foley and a
leg bag. You don't want to risk disconnecting it and clamping it as that may
not hold and if so you could get a nasty infection.
Ask what your MD has to say or call a rehab hospital and see what they usually
do.
The cold makes me spastic as well. I hate living where I am, the winters are
LONG and COLD! Winter starts in early November and ends in late April. Our Fall
is wet and damp, another thing that makes me spastics and so is our Spring! You
