a Touch on a windows network directly ... That's why you need to use ssh
or similar.
I use winscp rather than putty... I find it a lot easier

with its sound quality, but others find it very lacking, and make
extensive modifications to the Touch firmware, hardware, etc. to
improve it.
Why such a dichotomy in the Touch user experience?

Are you sure you enabled file sharing at Settings Advanced USB SD
Storage Sharing?
SSH and file sharing are two different things and are enabled
separately.
By enabling SSH
For sure, if you enable sharing, the name of your Touch should appear
under Network in Windows Explorer and once logged on you should be
able to drag and drop to any USB/SD connected media. Note: you cannot
access the system drive this way - for that you need WinSCP.

Well the RCA's are on top so it is the land closest to me, furthest
