You can uncheck "while typing" from /Format/AutoFormat. I agree that "toggle" functions are bad: better to say "on" and "off" or similar or have separate buttons. I also uncheck all the AutoCorrection features because my technical material doesn't conform the the rules and gets mashed. Bill
