My son is having a problem with mail that has been canvassed here before but I
am unable to access the archive or any WAMUG pages, all I get is the following
error message

Verify you have the correct password set in Keychain, then close mail and go
for a 10-15 minute coffee break.
After the break open mail and run the connection doctor under the Window
menu. This will either succeed or provide you a useful error message.

Agreed. Mail faults here too (for iinet). But my other email accounts all

My mail problem is now fixed. The iinet support system worked very well. I
haven't had to use support for a few years now - that's a plus for iinet, isn't
it. This morning I got straight through to someone in Sydney - I haven't had
such an instant response since my first years with iinet

I have had similar issues with my yahoo account. In the end I had to reduce the
frequency Mail checks for new mail. Some servers don't like to be accessed too
often and reducing the frequency helps.

application that will allow you migrate your emails from Eudora directly
into Mail. You should also be able to import from the Wizard that opens when
you first launch the Mail application.

If you are using Apple Mail, try 'Rebuilding the Mailbox'.
Select (highlight-click once) the Inbox Mailbox, then choose Mailbox Rebuild
from the Menu Bar
Rebuild recreates the index to the messages and does not cause them to be lost.

accounts / advanced you can get mail to prompt you to skip all messages over
5000 Kb. When this is checked you can download / skip / delete any message that

If you want to make it harder for people to send email under your
name, you should investigate setting up an SPF record for your domain.

Not all mail gateways implement SPF, but a lot do.
