My guess is that the other acids in vco like capric, capryllic, etc. are the 
ones that made a difference between heat and no heat vco with your son's 
treatment.

I am like you i can't take the coconut taste.  It makes me want to puke.  If 
the no heat vco is not processed well, it would make anyone gag - catch in the 
throat.  I use the centrifuged vco with a very slight coconut taste.  I just 
pour it down the back-end of my tongue to avoid nasty coconut taste.  I know 
others love it.
