Most sprinkler people are shocked when I tell them that Roland, but it is true. "had nothing to do with fire", not 'have'. Early '70s Kansas City, Ks contractor with big 3M projects, lots of 8" pipe. "What if we make the 2nd piece 1.25" instead of 1"?, could we make the main 6"? The first calculations were done to compare what a scheduled system would produce with a low, medium, and high Water Supply, and VOILA!... calcs are born. Another quote from the same man is "pipe scheduled systems had worked fine for 90 years at the time", so why bring fire into it? :)
