You should read some history of businesses. Read about Standard Oil, the
Robber Barons of the 19th century, Edison, or Wall Street in the 1920s.
When my grandfather was in business in 1910, ethics and fair play sometimes
meant you burned down the other guy's factory in the dead of night.

Human nature does not change. Law enforcement, on the other hand, is
greatly improved over what it used to be.
