That's ALWAYS BEEN what I'm talking about!! Here's the point: let's say a soldier has a 50% chance of being blown up on any given day. That means she's got a 50% chance of living. Now, on **any given day** her chances of living are 50%. That's your point. We agree. I'm going one step farther, though. Her chances of living 10 days IN A ROW are only 0.1% If she was immortal, then you'd be right because her chances of being hit ON ANY GIVEN DAY are 50%. Of course the key to living is not getting hit multiple days in a row.
