There are also Posix ACL patches for EXT3 which seem mature enough for
production use. See http://acl.bestbits.at/faq.html

I wonder how important the performance issues are in typical SME server
applications. Have you noticed any real life performance issues which you
have diagnosed as being due to the file system or kernel version used?
