Bryn - in my limited experience if you have a signal strength reading of under 40% you will get some rebuffering. I got round the problem by careful repositioning of the router. A very small movement can cause a big change in strengh depending on the surrounding walls, electrical implements etc. Failing that you could think about ethernet-over-mains.
