Quite so.  I admire many things about debian, but their release practice
is not one of them.

Argh, that snuck up on me.  I had thought the Java7 EOL was not later this
year.  Perhaps I am thinking of security-specific updates for which there
might be an exception.  I was not in a huge rush to move to 8 given that
FreeCol is still fairly new to Java7, but it looks like that needs to be
moved up the priorities.

Java8 has been the default for me for a while, which means the
RedHat-derived linuxes are either up to date or getting there.  debian
had it packaged in unstable last time I looked, and FreeBSD has it, so I
think we can assume most unixes at least have a package available to
install.  Can you comment on the windows situation?  IIRC, last time we
decided to not worry about XP:-).  I will check on the mac situation when
I get a chance.

Lambdas look good to me.  Lisp will never die.
