If you connect the turntable directly, you may need a pre-amp, depending on
the turntable. If you connect it and you can barely hear a signal, then you
need a pre-amp, or connect the turntable to an amplifier and then connect
the Mac to the amp's line out jacks. Generally speaking, if the turntable
has a separate ground wire, you'll need a pre-amp. If it doesn't have a
ground wire, then you don't need a pre-amp and can connect directly to the
mic input.


Gerry

Griffin's Final Vinyl application (free) provides the proper pre-amp settings, no need to use another device. At least that's what they say, I still hook a Powerbook up to my stereo for recording.
