If he rebooted his DNS and all seems well you might want to ask him if he is
running bind in Windows. There is a bug where the bind service will still be
running but it will not answer any queries.

Some one on this list wrote a utility to query the DNS and restart the
service automatically if it does not respond. We use it here because of this
verry issue. I am not at the server and I can not remember the name of the
util, But I can tell you it works great!!!
