We are still getting email sent from our servers bounced back. The IMail log shows -
07:03 07:42 SMTP-(000006D8) >MAIL FROM:<<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
07:03 07:42 SMTP-(000006D8) 553 5.1.8 <<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>[EMAIL PROTECTED]>... Domain of sender address <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>[EMAIL PROTECTED] does not exist
07:03 07:42 SMTP-(000006D8) ERR undeliverable 553 5.1.8 <<mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>[EMAIL PROTECTED]>... Domain of sender address <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>[EMAIL PROTECTED] does not exist
07:03 07:42 SMTP-(000006D8) SMTP_DELIV_FAILED
07:03 07:42 SMTP-(000006D8) >QUIT
My understanding is that its DNS issue.
Almost. This *should* be a DNS issue. However, that specific error message isn't defined, and could mean anything. So essentially it's the same as if their postmaster told you "Domain of sender address <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]>[EMAIL PROTECTED] does not exist" (which is subject to interpretation).
The remote server cannot locate/resolve the domain and so it thinks that it does not exist.
That could be. But it seems that some odd software has come about recently that doesn't like some domains whether or not their DNS is set up properly.
I spoke with an email admin two days ago that was good enough to reboot his DNS servers. After he did that we were able to send to his domain without problems for a while, now we are getting bounces again. .
That likely either means [1] They have flaky DNS, or [2] You have intermittent DNS issues.
We are having this problem with many larger companies, reliant.com, pbsolar.com, netzero.com to name a few.
If you de-munge the information, we can help. What is the sender address?
