Hi Dan & all the rest of you!

Ooh, I feel better now : )

I agree with you 100% -- my problem is that I don't get to hire these UI
people. The people using our product are buying it and one of our primary
selling points is that you DON'T need to be a coder to use our stuff.
Furthermore, having worked with a fair number of HTMLers, I feel safe in
saying that many of them are (1) very bright, (2) very good and (3) very
much *NOT* possessing the "basic syntax knowledge" that you seem to think is
trivial. It would be nice, Dan, if all UI writers were competent coders & if
all graphic designers had a Java consultant at their side -- but in *my*
world, it just doesn't seem to work that way.

Ah, how I hope you are right here. Indeed, if you are, then 1.1 will not
only repair the damage done by 1.0, it will erase the (substantial)
shortcomings of the 0.92 tag-based flow-control. My main problem, assuming
that 1.1 delivers the goods, is how do I make it from now to 1.1? Do we
continue to use a largely unsupported preliminary specification? Do we force
my custmoers to write scriptlets only to give them tags again in 2 months?
Do we hold back release of our app for another 2 months? I have to say: none
of those are attractive options, and therein lies the real horror of JSP
1.0.
