Ill have all the days news and Paul will have the forecast. And also tonight, Ill be looking at the mini tornado that hit south Lincolnshire last night. Can you believe that? A tornado in our region! Also tonight, Ill be looking into the story that in the future your medical records could be typed up in India! Hospital chiefs are considering outsourcing this role to India, in order to save money, but Unions are worried itll cause confusion and could lead to mistakes. Ill have more on that later. Plus, my special guest is the novelist, Jilly Cooper. Shes such a wonderful lady and always a great guest. Ill be speaking to her tonight ahead of her visit to Lincoln. Just a quick mention here from the Barton and District Amateur Operatic Society and Brian Sutcliffe. He says, Next Wednesday and Thursday, the 17th and 18th of May at Baysgarth School Hall in Barton upon Humber, HMS Pinafore will be performed in concert by the Lets Make Music chorus and orchestra. The concert is in aid of the Lindsey Lodge Hospice and the school library project. So there you are. This one comes from Lisa and she says, Were holding a sponsored starlight walk on Friday 19th May, starting at 10.30pm in our local village of Eagle near Lincoln. It started out with six women wanting to do the London Moon Walk and has now developed into sixty women shadowing the walk for breast cancer. So there you are. The very best of luck to everybody in the village of Eagle near Lincoln. Aviation As you know, to my cost, as I get my leg pulled quite often, I have always been a keen aircraft enthusiast. Thats the way I like to put it anyway. The whole aircraft thing has always fascinated me. I would be happy if I could just spend all my hours in an aeroplane or in an airport and would love to learn to fly. But of course thats very expensive. Well, the next best thing of course is just following aviation and its great that Humberside and Leeds Bradford are so busy. So there are plenty of planes to spot. This week is a big week for aviation enthusiasts. Its as tall as an eight storey building and its as long as a football pitch with the ability to carry almost nine hundred passengers. It is the worlds largest aircraft. Its called the Airbus A380. Its a massive, gleaming emblem of technology and this Thursday is a big day, because after eighteen years of planning on the part of British, French, German and Spanish companies, the largest aircraft in the world will ! make its first arrival in the UK. It will arrive on Thursday of this week at Heathrow Airport. So there you are. If youre an aircraft enthusiast, then look out for the Airbus A380 landing on Thursday. Dream Car Wed all love one, but a British inventor claims to have built the worlds most fuel-efficient car. It does eight thousand miles to the gallon. The carbon fibre three wheeler has a thirty-five CC single cylinder engine and is capable of reaching sixty miles an hour, because it stands only about two feet high and is aerodynamic. How do you get into a car thats only two feet high? Anyway, the technician at the University of Bath has built it to compete for the World Fuel Efficiency title in Southern France. Hes called Andy Green. Hes got the right name hasnt he for environmental benefits. His car does eight thousand to the gallon. What it doesnt say is how many people can sit in it. Presumably its just two as its a three wheeler. But eight thousand miles to the gallon! So I reckon hes onto a winner there. Hay Fever If youre a hay fever sufferer, well victims could expect the peak of their suffering at precisely 6.02pm on Monday 29th May. How do we know that? Well, not only is it the start of the grass pollen season, but its also a bank holiday, meaning that they are more likely to be spending time outdoors. Three hours before sunset, pollen released into the atmosphere in the morning, returns to the ground. So, with the sun due to set at 9.02pm on the 29th May, the worst time for hay fever sufferers is 6.02pm, round about tea time. Thats bank holiday Monday. So not next Monday, but the Monday after. If you are a hay fever sufferer, then you have been warned. Fred Trueman Over the years, well thirty years really, I cant remember how many interviews Ive done with Fred Trueman. One was where I visited his home for the day with Fred up in the Dales in his beloved Dales. Hes written books about the Dales. Well, cricket legend, Fred Trueman, has been diagnosed with lung cancer. I sadly read about that in the papers this morning. The former Yorkshire and England fast bowler is to undergo a fifteen week course of intensive treatment for the condition known as small cell carcinoma. Doctors believe that theyve caught the cancer in its early stages, improving his chances of recovering. Fred Trueman took more than two thousand first class wickets in a twenty year career. So there you are. Fred Trueman and we do wish him all the very best.
