Hello, its Peter here and welcome to Tuesdays Levy Letter. I hope your day is going well and welcome to the start of another week. Its another four day week. I hope you enjoyed your Bank Holiday weekend. Whatever you got up to, then I hope it went well and youre ready for the start of another week together. Also tonight, well be taking a trip on the number 57 bus through East Hull, which travels past John Prescotts home. Well be finding out what his constituents think on day six of a very bad week for the Deputy Prime Minister. Ill also have access to a Lincoln home that has been unchanged for one hundred years. Plus Ill be speaking to the head teacher, whos fed up with mobile phones. Hes claiming that constant texting is making his pupils stupid! Well, Im sure we all love to hate mobile phones, so I hope you can join me tonight for more on this story. This Time Last Week Well, who would have thought that just seven days ago we hadnt even mentioned it and then seven days later everybody is talking about it. In the office, there has only been one topic of conversation and of course it is the big P! Yes, it is pumpkins! I just want to say that if youve sent in already for pumpkin seeds, then thank you very much, but please no more! The pumpkin seeds have gone and indeed, Ive been told, that there are hardly any more pumpkin seeds left in the UK, because weve used them all. So a great response on that. Get your pumpkins growing and send in your photographs of them later in the year. Let me know how your pumpkins are doing and we might be able to come along and film as well. And of course, if youre having problems with your pumpkins, maybe you should let us know in case we can help! So if youve sent in for pumpkin seeds, then the very best of luck to you. Im looking forward to hearing about how you all get on and how big your pumpkins are ! going to grow. Odds And Ends Just a couple of things from last week to wrap up on from some of the subjects we talked about last week. This one comes from Patrick Were a family, who came from London six years ago, and we all love Lincolnshire. The bins being supplied are approximately half the size of the bins in London and these were collected every week. They tried smaller bins on a fortnightly collection, but this did not work. We love the grass collection idea as we have approximately two acres and a lawn. Also, a further thought, which hasnt been taken into account, is the number of people living in a dwelling or come to that, the amount of council tax each property has to pay. All are supplied with the same bins. So there you are. The bin subject goes on! And theres just one more here about David Whitfield and this comes from Margaret Rooke. Just to let you know that I was very privileged to meet and have my photograph taken with David Whitfield in 1963. I was serving in the WRNS and was stationed at Whitehall Mansions in Malta. Since Malta has got independence, it is now a hotel. David came out to Malta to entertain the troupes and he came to visit Whitehall Mansions. I was in bed, having just done a night shift and he asked if there was anyone from Hull stationed there. My friend said yes, but I was bed. He gave us tickets to go see him on the night and visit him backstage after the show. He was a very wonderful man with a most fantastic voice and I remember fondly the time we met and had a chat about the city! So there you are. Memories about David Whitfield from 1963 there and thats from Margaret Rooke. If youve got any more stories, then keep them coming in. Births There was a time, a few years back, when men would be encouraged to be at the birth of their baby. But it seems now that women cant be doing with them there and according to a survey, theyre proving to be more trouble than theyre worth. And now theyre being encouraged to stay away by four out of ten women in this country. So nearly half of women, who are pregnant, would rather their man was not there at the birth!
