Micheal and Steven, these are very good ideas but I’m sure you both appreciate that the bourgeoisie will not allow the gradual and nonviolent introduction of almost all of these measures which fundamentally challenge its power and property. Most sympathetic liberal activists and working people like those supporting Mamdani consciously understand or intuit this reality and would balk at adopting your more radical program for this reason. I know I sound like the list’s resident defeatist, but I’m only reiterating that an essential precondition for socialism is the collapse of the capitalist system of production and distribution which forces the masses to take matters into their own hands, and that it's not possible to predict when these conditions might appear.
