In other words, don't use it on and car, period, except for older GM
products that actually have the ignition switch on top of the steering
column, away from the key. Because even cars with no switches in the
door have switches behind the ignition locks.

Local locksmith advised WD-40 when we were having troubles with the
ignition lock on our Dodge Caravan.  Probably not bad advice; should
do a decent job disolving gunk, and it eventually evaporates almost
entirely, leaving a very light lube behind if anything.
