Alon, what's the point of sending these instructions to... the meta list??
I supposed you meant to send it to other lists...

These instructions were Bcc'd to discussions. The discussions list was
deliberately removed from the To: line to avoid replies to the discussions
list.

Once upon a time we had an assembly@ list for exactly this purpose. What's
wrong with that? In my personal opinion, if an Hamakor *full member* is not
interested in pre-voting discussion, he or she does not deserve to be a
member (and will proabably not even bother to come to vote, and give us
quorum problems).

You cannot unsubscribe (or subscribe for that matter) from assembly, other
than revoking your membership. Furthermore, for techincal reasons,
membership in assembly is updated manually before a message is sent.
According to proper netiquette, all mailing lists should allow an option to
unsubscribe. Moreover, for the sake of transparency, we should not limit
participation in meta discussions to members only, but open them to the
general public.

The meta list was opened not to inhibit discussion, but to encourage it,
in an Opt-in, rather than Opt-out fashion. The silent majority of
subscribers to discussions want this, as could be seen by the large number
of unsubscriptions and people not renewing their membership after the Elad
Efrat fiasco.
