That's exactly why the assembly ANNOUNEMENT was sent to the discussions
list and to all members via the assembly list (an announcement will also
be
sent via snail mail). However, discussion around the assembly doesn't
interest most of the people, especially those who can't vote in the
assembly
anyway. There is no reason to force the discussions on everybody.

If it is categorized under a "doesn't interest" category, they will dislike
it in advance. An assembly is not just another discussion, and in my opinion
it is not even a meta discussion. It is part of the reason why the NPO
exists. It's not about being interested in a subject or not, and it's not an
odd discussion about how the NPO should run. It is about the importance of
the subject. In this case - it is a main subject for the NPO. Nobody is
actually forced, and one can simply ignore a subject such as, "assembly -
put your topics and comments here". You are never forced to read anything in
any mailing list.

I do not think the NPO existis for having assemblies. The assembly is a
requirement by the law in order to allow the members to have control over
the management of the NPO. It has everything to do with how the NPO is
managed, and nothing to do with what it actually does.

Not everybody has filtering software installed. The mentality that says
"people can ignore stuff they don't want" is what causes mailboxes filled
with 90% spam. The assembly discussions are high-volume discussions that
interest only a very small portion of the members. Why send the discussion
to 212 recepients when less that 30 people even come to the assembly at all?

You are not everybody. Did you take a survey of all the people
(including
78% of the friends who are not members) to see if they are interested?
Fact
shows that almost all of the people are not interested in these issues.
Only
25 addresses are subscribed to the meta list, even though it was announced
several times as the forum for these discussions.

Facts also say that people don't like subscribing to all kinds of mailing
list. Not subscribing to a mailing list usually means nothing about his
interest in the subject.

People do not like subscribing to mailing lists because they do not like
to get mail that doesn't interest them. Subscribing to the list is easy as
clicking one link. People who don't want to take the effort of clicking that
link will not take the effort to read hundereds of emails about the
assembly.

If the discussion is held on the main list, the vast majority who isn't
interested in the assembly (and thus didn't join as members in the first
place) will be forced to sort through hundreds of unwanted messages or
unsubscribe from the discussions list and miss other important announcements
like the upcoming OSDC. Why not send them herbal viagara commercials while
we're at it?

The announcement of the
assembly and the subscription information was sent to the discussions
list.
Those who want to participate in the discussion are only one click away
from subscribing to meta.

All I am saying is that important subjects which you include in a "meta"
frame, such as discussions about the coming assembly, should get the widest
crowd. Those who doesn't want to read it, will naturally ignore the subject.
There is no single mailing list with 100% loveable subjects.

People complained about the high volume of meta discussions in the main
list. Why not buy 1,000,000 e-mail addresses from some spammer and send the
discussion there too? It will get to a larger crowd. The point is to get the
message to people who WANT to get it, not do make life harded and make
people resent the NPO as only interested in procedural matters and not
actually doing stuff.
