Here's my own $.02 on the matter. There has been a lot of bad blood between Adobe/Macromedia etc. and New Atlanta going back quite a few years. I remember some of the blog postings by Adobe employees when Open BlueDragon first came out were quite unpleasant and almost gloating how open sourcing the J2EE version of BlueDragon was NA's first step to their going under.
That said, its unfortunate that there is this negative attitude on both sides. if anything Adobe should be encouraging the open source initiatives.
