I was the person that originally suggested an OpenBD GAE session for the track that I co-chair. I did not suggest an OpenBD session -- only GAE since it is something that to be excited about. I suggested a GAE presentation because it's interesting and different -- not something we've seen repeatedly year after year. It's a fresh and compelling topic. I even suggested three potential speakers -- one of which has no connection to the OpenBD committee.
In regards to having a GAE session in our track, I did not push the issue after it was made clear to me that it was there was a policy (unknown to me) that no BlueDragon sessions are allowed at CFO and that an Open BlueDragon session about GAE was "tricky" (your word IIRC). Adam Haskell asked for the topic to be withdrawn from consideration out of respect for cf.Objective() as a conference due to the possibility of sponsorship funding being withdrawn over this single topic suggestion.
