Hi Hugh,

  On the "page" that I saw, under the BIOS Setup Utility, on the left
side, it said 
ATA/IDE Configuration [enhanced]

On the right side of the page, it said All  IDE resources disabled. 

It gave three options when you click on [enhanced]
Disabled, Legacy, and Enhanced. They all said disabled on the right side
of the page.  There was no enable option. 

 I did check under Device manager like you said, under IDE/ATA/ATAPI
Controllers, and it looks like they're all enabled. So, maybe the BIOS
is ok.  I'm just trying to check everything possible.

I'm not sure what "Right hand side" means, but IDE devices should be 
enabled. I believe you can check this in Device Manager under 
IDE/ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
It should do no harm to change these settings, as you can then reboot 
and change them back.
