Not sure any of the myriad of responses answered your question... My Fast
Tracks jig for a #4 wye switch cost $247 and change. With the materials
purchased, I can probably bang out turn outs for a little under $21 each before
buying new materials (rail, PC ties, etc.). If I make more turn outs in the
future, the cost continues to drop.
Why a #4 wye? Well it saves space (minimum turn out length is 8.7") and the
divergent radius is 59" - long enough to handle just about anything. To get
the same divergent radius in a straight turn out, I would need to use a #6,
which has a length of 10.75". It saves a bit of space, works great and looks
good...
