Those are most assuredly leftovers from the old, poorly done, blue box model 
days.  I'd be willing to bet a paycheck on it.

  Athearn.  Athearn does not sell to dealers or customers.  They are owned by

  Does anyone know if it is even possible to buy a "loose shell" from Athearn
  and what the price is?  I am not sure there is a price differential until
  somebody presents some facts regarding the matter.  As the famous TV
  detective once said, "Just the facts, Ma'am."  Opinions are great, but facts
