John...There is little doubt that AM products, in general, are less finely 
detailed than SMMW or SHS or PRS.  But "less detail" should not mean the 
product is unsatisfactory.  It is what it is and all the details you want can 
be added.  Knowing what is being purchased and planning ahead to modify/enhance 
it as required for your personal taste is the secret to being happy in S scale. 
 Not all S products are intended to be contest winners or exquisite 
museum-calibre replications of the prototype.  But even some pure AF 
(ACGilbert) cars can be easily upgraded to a reasonable degree of realism.  
Perfection is a fine goal, but expecting a manufacturer of toys to achieve it 
for you is not always realistic from a cost perspective.  Sometimes we have to 
do the work ourselves.  But that is why we are called "model" railroaders.  
"Model" is both a verb and a noun.  Take care....Ed L.
