Provoked has the following 4 tracks:
 * Alive * 04:21
 * Carry mr home inkle * 06:01
 * Save You * 04:30
 * Shillong* 04:53

Are all of these, alongwith the BGM of the film done by ARR?

having seen the film, I think BGM is surely ARR style.

But the above doesn't have the casting track that I heard in the hindi 
dubbed DVD film. Where to get that from?

Composed "Alive" for the film Provoked. It's available
on Karen David's record The Alive EP ..on itunes or
via Karen's website www.karendavid.com
Rahman did also compose Shillong Shillong and Cary Me
Home with Karen David, and they will released probably
next year on her album - you can hear them on Karen's
website as above

really sad that such wonderful music is not being considered for a commercial 
release. I think we can make the CD production viable within this group itself.

Checked karen davids myspace page and these are the 4 tracks up there.
"Carry me home" is the latest live studio recording (inklien version) up
there and not normal one which was previosly there. So somebody has recorded
it from her myspace page.
But only the track "Alive" is from Provoked.
I seached for provoked tracks on the net and was really surprised to see a
site giving mp3 ringtones (25secs) of "Alive" in both English and Hindi
(Jiye To Jiye).
Has anyone heard this Hindi version of Alive before ?

"Alive" and "Carry Me Home" was up on Karen Davids myspace page. I think
"Save Me" was also there. But dont remember seeing "Shillong".
Sometime back there was a hack to download mp3s from myspace just like
d/ling videos from youtube. Myspace fixed the problem pretty quickly. But
somebody could have sneaked it by then.

Does it have the new version of Alive also there on Karens myspace page ? Is
the "Shillong" song also a full version or is it the 30 sec samples
available on the net ?

Apparently ARR is still working on enhancing the mixing of the BGM tracks. It's 
unclear at this
point, how much longer Eros would remain interested in releasing the soundtrack 
considering
that the movie has released and the DVD is due for release in a few days.

all language singles or even couple of songs in one album they will release. we 
heard its been dubbed into 4 to 5 languages. like Karen David & SHreya goshal

This is most disappointing news! I hope ARR/Jag Mundhra will pass on the music 
score to them for a release.

Vij/Rano,
  Could you check with ARR to see what's happening on this regard?

If ARR is looking for more scoring projects in the West (like what he's doing 
in Golden Age; even there it is Armstrong who is leading the project) more of 
his music scores need to be released. 
What's worrying is that Eros is looking at only the songs to be the 
selling-point. When will instrumental score ever be considered sellable in 
India? 
There are instances of score releases like Black, Eklavya and Sarkar but all 
those were big projects (with the advantage of Bachchan acting and hence more 
publicity). Provoked is a small film (even with Aishwarya Rai) so I can partly 
understand Eros' unwillingness. What about foreign music labels? Or ARR's own 
upcoming label? Heck, if it is so expensive why not try an internet release on 
Itunes or something similar?

Just spoke to the Marketing Head of Eros Music...its a pity they r not thinking 
of releasing the Audio of Provoked.

said there r only 2 songs (1 Eng, 1 Hindi) & the rest r bgms..but
they've not yet recd any Bgms from ARR or the director. So, they r
still waiting to decide. He said that the songs cud release as a
compilation sum time later with another movie. Thats really stupid!!! I
strongly feel, they shd rel it as an OST. The same was dun with
'Eklavya'. It had only 2 songs n others were theme music. They released
it after the film. They r not yet sure...so lets hope for the best!
For the time...lets give justice to SIVAJI...its not yet out in India...but 
soon we'll get it...

languages. And the icing on the cake is that Ash will dub for the Hindi
and Punjabi versions herself.

Producer Dr J Murli Manohar,
who flew down from London this week to oversee the release plans
reveals, "We aren't just releasing the film in its original English
language, we're also dubbing the film into Hindi, Tamil, Telugu,
Punjabi and Spanish, and possibly a seventh language, French as well,"
he says.

Other languages will be done by dubbing artistes on her
behalf. "To expect Ash to dub in Tamil or Spanish is unrealistic. But
she's very enthusiastic about speaking in Punjabi for the first time,"
says Dr Murli.

The linguistic blitzkrieg isn't random. The producer says, "Domestic
violence isn't just an Asian phenomenon. We want the message to reach
every corner of the world."

He
intends to fly down the film's distinguished British cast for the
premiere in February. "Miranda Richardson and Robbie Coltrane are
expected to join Ash for the Mumbai premiere. And of course the real
Kiranjit Ahluwalia will attend. We'll also have a lavish premiere at
Leicester Square in London," says Dr Murli.

My choice is Ridley Scott; remember "Gladiator" and "Black hawk 
Down". He is master in blending BG scores with spectacular visuals. 
Currently Hans zimmer is Scoring the music for his films, and his 
style is similar to AR Rahman.

Also in Action category John Woo is best. You can see it in Face/off 
and 'Mission impossible II'. Most of his action scenes are in slow 
motion visuals in which music takes lead.

M. Night shyamalan is good too, coz he is Indian. His films are dark 
and full of mystery scenes in which ARR is master of. and I think 
one day definitely shyamalan will offer a film to ARR :)

It is from the latest Steven Spielberg masterpiece Munich. It comes at the very start of the movie, when the Universal logo & Dreamworks logo is being shown & It continues until the visuals of the movie starts. & Believe me it is more haunting than RDB's.

 And about the similarity issue, I'm going to refer to another similar BGM which everytime reminds me of the RDB bgm piece during "Jalianwala Bagh massacre". It is from the latest Steven Spielberg masterpiece Munich. It comes at the very start of the movie, when the Universal logo & Dreamworks logo is being shown & It continues until the visuals of the movie starts. & Believe me it is more haunting than RDB's.     And guys, I'm not "suggesting" anything. In international market "Samples" tunes are available in a big way. Music composers use this in a big way.these are called "loops". OK,

The initial 20 sec. sounds similar. I would just wait for the film and
soundtrack released before I comment. Who knows.ARR must've
credited it or says a mere coincidence etc.

The thing is, Provoked is not a masala bollywood film. So ARR sure
does know about the music, when he's composing for an international film. 

I also remember that when I first saw the promos of a Mani ratnam film
Iruvar (Iddaru in telugu) on TV, it had soundtrack of Old Spice after
shave lotion ad. Thoug it may sound irrelevant of your pointI
wouldn't bother much, even if you can call 'inspired'.

Hello Guys,
 
Here is the Troy sample from the movie Troy(music:James Horner) which i told you "reminds me" of the RDB sample during Jalianwala Bagh masacre.(the lady wailing)
 
Incidentally this sample features when the Greeks are killing the Trojans .I have not used any words (like inspiration ) here as it tends to create waves.
 
Just listen to the two tracks and comment on what you guys think.Thanks for all your positive feedback.Cheers,

you attached a clip I checked it out.

Yes, the samples sound similar but a couple of things
must be pointed out-

The Horner part (trumpet) you are referring to is the
infamous 4 note "danger" motif that he uses very
often. Just google for '4 note danger motif Horner'
and you'll come across lots of examples.

That being said the motif is not original to Horner.
Check out the clip in the 1st track from -
Rachmaninoff Symphony 1

And specially our ARRs tracks, only 5th track has beats. tracks 2 & 4, like to know the voices who lent them? lucky singers. tracks 1 & 3 also great.
