Hi, I'm not Logitech, but they have said several times here that it is indeed "limited" in the senses that they won't be making as many red as black, and to expect to have to search for them. That's confirmed by the fact that they are only in their US online store - which will not sell to people in Europe or many other places outside the US. Those of us in other countries have to search for the few dealers advertising them. So far we've found one in the Netherlands with stock, and one in the UK advertising pre-orders. Yes, I was just trying to feed TrackStat the raw XML data from an iTunes Library via the backup/restore functionality.. I saw some very vague information about how to import the data into Trackstat that mentioned restoring the data and it's obvious now that it won't work that way. As long as I have your attention, maybe you could provide me with just a bit of guidance. I have the goal of being able to keep my ratings synch'd between iTunes and Trackstat running on the Squeezebox Server. My entire music library is stored on a Windows Home Server via SMB share. I play the music and keep it all rated and organized on an iMac running OS X 10.6.2. Is there any way for me to share the ratings data between the Mac and Trackstat running on the Squeezebox Server or would I have to effectively move my iTunes library completely to the box that Squeeze Server runs on? Hopefully this isn't too confusing. [SlimDevices: Radio] Stuck pixel on Radio
I just noticed a stuck pixel on my new radio :( Only one but near the middle; and now that I know it's there... I saw 'this thread' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=44307&highlight=stuck+pixel) regarding the same issue on the controller. It doesn't look to be very common. At the lower resolution of these screens compared to PC monitors I guess the probability of a defect on a given unit should be pretty low. I'm certainly not going to open up a returnable unit to try the massage tricks. I picked mine up retail from Best Buy so I don't think I'll have trouble with an exchange. We'll see. If possible reflection, etc could be the cause of the problem you should test it in a pitch black closet or similar away from your face an reflective materials. That way you can distinguish between faulty hardware versus light feedback issues. I checked mine from a foot away. It's definitely visible; but it definitely wouldn't bother me - I may not be very sensitive. [SlimDevices: Radio] How does one get Logitech support to respond?
I thought I'd heard that Logitech support was pretty good, but I emailed a question regarding lost streams over a week ago and have had no response. I have written two followup emails also with no response. I did get an automated response with a ticket number, so I know that the original request went somewhere at least and that I am able to receive replys from Logitech. Does anyone else use email support, or is phone the only way to go? I think that you should file a bug report at bugs.slimserver.com and carefully document everything about this. I have had this happen to me once too in which my presets were completely wiped from the cosmos, but I chalked it up in my case to loading a new Plugin on my server that might have caused some issues. 12 inches, really? No, mine is not 12 inches from my face, more like a meter or more. It also sits on a black table top so no chance of any reflections from that. The screen is right in front of my eyes. I have now factory reset it with no change, and tried holding my whole forearm over the top of the radio, again with no change. I have also fiddled a fair bit with the brightness setting, reaching the conclusion that choosing "Automatic" renders the Brightness slider ineffectual. I can see that the brightness of the display does vary with ambient light and that it varies in a jerky fashion. Curiously when the room is dark the display can get darker when I activate my iPhone display! Now I am worried that there is a hardware fault and that I should return it before the 30 days I up. FYI I remember that while the Boom was being developed I had a similar problem with the display. In the end I tracked it down the light sensor reading the light reflection of the Boom's screen from my face and bedclothes and adjusting the brightness upwards! I just tried it (firmware 7915) and it does normally kick out into the stopped screensaver. That's the intended behavior, so if it's not happening for you, then that's the only bug. Specifically it was saying symbols not found in the directory which was defined for the database backup for Trackstats. I have a post about my unusual configuration over in the plugins forum which explains things in some more detail. I just tried to feed Trackstats my unmodified Mac based XML file which probably led to the bad behavior. The performance issue is if the file paths has changed, it takes few seconds to try to find alternative paths to a single file. In a large library a few seconds per file results in very bad performance. The latest TrackStat version has a possibility to turn of this feature so it only uses a file if it has the exact same path as in Squeezebox Server. The preset buttons don't tell you if they recognize a button push before playback of the selected stream or playlist begins, which often results in user confusion and multiple subsequent button pushes which can further slow things down from starting up. I've submitted an enhancement request to always have the radio pop up a message indicating that the preset button has been selected, what the content of the button is and a "loading" or "waiting" message while it begins the audio playback. The auto dimming does just get a bit too dark for me at night, I can't quite make out the clock. Mind you I want it very very dim because I'm a light sleeper. During the day when any light hits it the unit becomes unbelievably bright. Hopefully we will get the ability to set a minimum and maximum bright level and still let the auto adjustment do its thing. Okay, fair enough. I have only done very basic testing with alarms and have not had an alarm fail yet. I am concerned though that my presets seemed to spontaneously disappear when they only thing I did was turn on the Trackstat plugin on the server. Looking at it now I see that the server log file is over 1.4TB and growing. All of the messages seem to be complaining about Trackstat undefined symbols. I will remove Trackstat and restart. If the presets spontaneously disappear on their own again I will file a bug report. And sorry - for me a not working alarm is so critical that I'd expect a fix (or at least a sign that someone is working on the problem or at least treats it with the upmost importance) within days. I failure rate of 20% for alarms (2 days out of 10) really annoys me very much (don't ask my wife). If a product (however cool etc) is sold as a direct replacement for the bedside radio then the alarm simply has to work, and compared to all the other clever things the Radio does a bit of code that says 'if current time == wake up time then play music' sounds rather bovine to fix. Some patience will be given but Logitech do concentrate on core functionality and stability of the products before racing off to the new wizardry. Remember that while cool features on marketing brochures may make an initial sale a few upset customers ranting on forums like this can undo a lot of hard work. The SBRadio is the one player not listed on SBS . The SB3 and the SBBoom are always listed on SBS even when both are connected only to MSBox.com. However, when the Radio is running on SBS it the does show up in the player listing on SBS on the pc.
