Even without 'no service config', it shouldn't take 10 minutes to get a
router up. If you are consoled in, you will see the router attempted to
get a config automatically, but again, even with that, you should get a
command prompt you can control in less than 10 minutes. My 2 cents.

What is the router doing? At what point is it broken? Does it try to boot
the image? Is it stuck in a loop?
You can try CNTRL-BRK, but I know that this will not work with some versions
of Microsoft Hyperterm. You can try hyperterminal Private edition

Ok, I know this is probably a simple issue, but I can't find a resolution.
I have several 2610 routers that show the following when they are loaded:
Configured I/O Memory Percentage Too Large, using 10%.
They then proceed to reload forever. If I go to rommon and skip the system
config using 0x21
Could you please give me the cisco web link about this diagram?. I did a lot
of search, but can not find it. Many thanks.

If there is a boot system command in the config file, and that command
doesn't list a network boot, then the router will NOT boot from network. If
the file in the flash is corrupted, it will go ROM right away. Cisco web
site has a nice diagram that shows all possible combinations.

Hi,
If the router is configued to boot from flash. and the boot file corrupted.
Will the router boot from network then to ROM?

I think if you leave your config reg at 2102 and then add the following boot
statements to your startup config:
'boot flash'
'boot system tftp x.x.x.x filename'
you should be OK. The router is supposed to try the boot statements in
order from top down.

Hello,
I have been booting my 3640 router through the tftp

If your router is able to boot up, change your router register value,
0x2102.
Then write mem.
If you router is failed to load up IOS, you need to upload your IOS via

Good luck

Your IOS is probably corrupted. This usually happens when your IOS didn't
get loaded properly.

Config register setting 0x2102 is not a problem in this case.

During cold restart, try the Break key. If that doesn't work try Ctrl-Break.
