If you are sharing with a friend it makes a lot more sense. I also got one
and I have probably used it twice in 4 years, but to be fair I don't hang
out at the garage as much as I used to. And yes, Manitoba is a bit too far
from SoCal to borrow mine.

Let me try to address everyone’s comments in one reply lol!
I want a good carb sync tool because of my OCD in making everything perfect.
First, get it running again, sync. Then I will be getting the exhaust ceramic
coated and installing a K air filter. Small changes, sync again. Check
If you have more than one multi-carbed bike and already do your own
maintenance, it might be worth it. My bikes get a carb sync twice a year,
just because I have the tools.

Yup, found some evidence of rust in the tank. The metal inside that I can see
is barely stained. I suspect the rust that was mobile got sucked into the
carbs. I took the tank off and shook it and no more apparent loose rust is
coming out with the fuel. Any advise on cleaning the tank any better
Took them out, all looked good. At first I didn't even see anything in there
until a got a light. The orings looked fine. No cracks and still pliable. One
less thing to work about.

Reddish gunk sounds like dried up gasoline. You should get the carbs cleaned
sonically. You can also soak them in kerosene for a couple days. I would not
use WD40.

Actually the fact that the pin had shifted may not have been the cause of the
flooding. It may have been a spec of dirt on the float valve seat. If tapping
the bowl doesn't work, sometimes draining the bowl and allowing it to refill (
you have to activate the vacuum petcock manually) takes care
I know that as well, unless somehow the wrong bowl was on it.
But just shifting shouldn't cause it to flood.

by 3/8 of an inch. However Now that you mention it the bowl does hold it in
place. It must have just shifted as i took the bowl off. That is the only

If you can't get the carbs to sync you may have a vaccum leak... Most likely
the manifold is no longer properly sealing, either damaged, oring shot, or carb
clamp not tight. You may also have a clogged or damaged pilot jet. This assumes
you followed the correct sync procedure.

I just finished rebuilding my carb for my 83 cb750sc and got the 1st three
carbs running nice but the 4th is still running lower then the rest. Does
anyone know how I can get the last one to fall in line with the first
three? I used my carb synchronizer.

I believe the carb boots that go from the air filter to the carbs on
my 83 650 are shot. Honda no longer sells them. You can find some
used on e-bay, but 30 year old rubber is 30 year old rubber. Has
anyone ever tried going to individual air filter pods on each
carburetor?
