OK, let's say there is a fair number of people using OpenSolaris at home for
personal use. But as far as those bugs discussed in the forums here are
concerned, is it fair to say that most of the time these bugs arise out of
work-related problems?

Oooops! Thanks for catching that.
Currently, I'm using a customized version of Epic to author the
book. The source isn't available y

Stop the service.
# svcadm enable network/ssh
Are You writing it in Latex?

It is a choice-of-words issue on whether the word "abandoning" should be used.
But as hartz said, Sun is clearly diverting its resource to OpenSolaris. As to
how bad (as far as Solaris 10 is concerned) the diversion is, that's a
judgement call. Whereas one can point to all these Solaris 10 pa

Hi Dennis,
Yes I have seen this. /opt was set up as a separate file system by the
installation process, and the "canmount" proterty was set to "no" (not
sure by which step yet), as a result post-upate /opt is no longer
mounted. If you run
# zfs mount rpool/ROOT/opensolaris/opt.
It should s
A couple of questions might help to clarify the best way to get your
answer;
1) What are you trying to achieve;
- developing an application for enterprise deployment on Solaris 10
- personal use
- deploying Solaris 10 in a production environment
2) What do you want as a result of getting to a
I performed a pkg image-update from os200805 ( snv_86 ? ) to snv_93
and my compilers are gone. In fact all of /opt is gone.
I ended up with *multiple* /opt filesystems from multiple opensolaris revs :
