Re: (313) Stacey Pullen last night in NYC
for future reference Dave... Fridays at Subtonic [The Bunker ... http://www.klever.org/thebunkernyc ] still seems to be the best fun in town. It might not always be Detroit-ish, but it usually is pretty interesting, to say the least. Especially when Plaslaiko is on for the 3rd time in the night. Upcoming.. Matthew Dear + Rob Hall I'd love to recommend Deep Space on Mondays at Cielo w/ Francois K, but it's not totally consistent. I've had a blast when Rhythm Sound and Derrick May were guests, but other times were letdowns.. Rhythmism.com + fusicology.com usually have most of the Detroit-based events listed on it, fyi. later, +odd -- Odeluga, Ken wrote: LOL! The five of us got there early and luckily avoided the $15 admission (saved $75) The Sullivan Room is closing for a bit to do some renovations, I think a new sound system is on order. So this was billed as a pre-renovation blowout bash. There were even 2-1 drinks till midnight...sounds pretty good right? The unfortunate thing about it was everyone who spun sucked. It could be I'm suffering the let down from expecting too much. The opening dj's; Function (Infrastructure), Victor Ridi Fong (Minitek), Sleepy Boo (Basic NYC) played not one interesting track. The sets sounded like a mix of minimal tracks from the sale bin and a few old Transmat and Rob Hood numbers thrown in because Stacey was there. I was ready to leave more than an hour before Stacey started. But I decided to stick with it and have another drink. (more alchol seemed to help) 'Do NOT miss this rare NYC visit from the techno innovator on this very special night.' Said the flyer. As soon as Stacey took to the decks, I thought finally, amateur hour is over. Stacey started with a vocal sample of a guy talking about soul. Good sign eh? Well that was the last bit of soul I heard in the half hour before I gave up. Maybe it was that Stacey forget to restock his record bag with something new and ditch the pounding NYC house tracks circa 2000. Reguardless the New York University frat kids who showed up seemed to like it. Hope that gives you an indication of where the bar was set. I would have been mad if I'd parted with the $15 to get in, instead it was rather sad that there is still such a shortage of challenging and INNOVATIVE music in NYC. -dave -- Todd Sines director + SCALE: http://www.scale.gs/ +1.646.330.4873 studio 195 Chrystie St. #403A, NY, NY 10002 // connecting the space between + within.

Going out to clubs for years and not hearing any Detroit shxt and then they bring in a Detroit artist and suddenly the local jocks pull out the five or ten Detroit classics they own because they want to be down. Re: (313) Stacey Pullen in SF
Friday's at 1015 have been getting less meat markety and security is a little less bitchy. Though it's still mostly breaks and some techno. Next Saturday I would recommend checking out Pheek at Kontrol www.kontrolsf.com. He played at Fuse-In. Tonight, Dub Tribe Sound System is playing their final SF gig at Blue Cube at 34 Mason st. The music is somewhat uninspiring but if they are still playing on the massive live rig they used to have on their website it's something I'm very curious to see in person. Re: (313) Stacey Pullen Australasian Dates
Good question. By co-ordinating dates across Asia. Usually they tie in with Singapore as we are very close culturally and there's a lot of exchange as well as Japan. Then all the promoters contribute to flight share. If you get Australia, you can get NZ or vice versa. Almost all the promoters here have contacts in Asia. It's still hard to make money at times... ;) Sponsorship helps. just out of curiosity, how do promoters in australia cover their costs? it must be expensive to fly someone to the land of roos, plus the artist fee... RE: (313) Stacey Pullen Fabric CD
Sorry to rain on the parade, but pls be aware if not already, Stacey Pullen @Fabric is very much in Fabric main-room style - meaning, big, linear, uk tech-house. I can see why he does it - if Fabric pay you well, which they do, you do what they pay you for - but to me it was boring and not very representative of the excellent, exciting and wide-ranging, Stacey Pullen sets I've seen elsewhere. I've not heard the cd I admit, but to *me* (I recognise a lot of the producers) it looks likely to be in the same style as I've described. I'd say he is very unlikely to ever drop 'Music People' in a Fabric set! k -Original Message- From: Ramon Crespo [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, December 14, 2003 3:59 AM To: 313 Subject: Re: (313) Stacey Pullen Fabric CD Cyclone Louise Wehner wrote: Has anyone heard this yet? (313) Stacey Pullen or Derrick May??
Is it just me or does the track listed on the first Transmat comp cd as the collaboration between May and Hillage sound awfully similar to (or just a stripped down version of) Stacey Pullen's Vertigo? The track on the cd comp almost sounds like the beats-only Mayday Mix of vertigo, as the System 7 Mix of Mysterious Traveller on the vinyl sampler sounds completely different than this one. Any clarification would be greatly appreciated, on or offlist. Cheers, Wojtek

Stacey Pullen press release What has now become a veritable institution, New Used have succeeded in producing one blistering event after another, delivering the cream of the world's DJ's across a plethora of Melbourne's most unique venues. Following the sell out success of DJ Sneak, Motor City's Stacey Pullen returns to take the New Used stage for a massive six hour set. Stacey Pullen is an innovator, an influencer, an energising DJ often rating in the Top 5 of people's named favourites in the world. His technical skill, his way with the music, his Motown upbringing, his drumming history could all be attributed to the growing legend however the truth of the matter is that he is a people's dj - playing music that refuses to be bound by any journalistic label. Notorious for his exhilarating, marathon six hour sets - Stacey communicates at a higher level, building the anticipation as he prepares the crowd for an onslaught of cross genre mayhem, playing everything from house, techno, drum n bass to ol' school funk, jazz and Latin groove. You will gravitate towards the spirit of his music as it wafts through your system in a mesmerising sound epic - leaving you wishing the sun hadn't come up so soon.. The fertile sound bed of Detroit nurtured his style, the stages of the world from North America, Europe, Asia, Australia, South America and the Caribbean have provided an eclectic audience, his own Blag Flag label project combining art and music, all have influenced his aspirations to reject the impulse to conform, to thrive under innovation and promote the evolution of the music genre. There are many reasons for Stacey Pullen's avid fan base in Australia, his sets are something of club history, his reputation second to none, either way he warrants the accolades and attention that has been bestowed on him in this country and we wait with bated breath for his return. Stacey will be supported by a special performance of The Little Beasties Set by Angela Maison and Ant J Steep, well known in Melbourne circles as the key people behind Honky Tonks fresh musical approach. They will perform their first Little Beasties decks and mischief performance at Hi Fi with Angela and Ant on multiple decks, beastie effects, cdj's and perhaps a live Maison vocal! Not to mention additional local support from Christian Vance, Grant Smillie, John Course, Andy Murphy and Chris Buchanan. Historically a grand ballroom and later a news reel cinema, The Hi-Fi Bar Ballroom is now one of Melbourne's premiere event venues. New Used will be held here for the first time, aptly chosen to suit Stacey's unique, underground style. The back lane entrance, off Little Collins St, down the fashionable Howey Place provides the perfect setting for a crazy night of Motor City style mayhem. (313) Stacey Pullen - Melbourne
Rare occasion to hear some inspirational Detroit music in Melbourne. SEVEN IN CONJUNCTION WITH GASP ENTERTAINMENT PRESENT AN EVENING WITH STACEY PULLEN SIX HOUR SET WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 25 @ SEVEN NIGHTCLUB Detroit's Legendary Maestro returns to Melbourne for the 7th Consecutive Year. Exclusive to GASP Entertainment Seven Under the influence of Kraftwerk, Derrick May, Juan Atkins, Jeff Mills, Chicago and Italian house music and the radio icons of the Electrifyin' Mojo and WBMX/Chicago, Stacey Pullen was nurtured in the rich musical soil of Detroit in the mid 80's. Inspired by the mystical epicentre of the techno earthquake, the music institute, Stacey began spinning at local venues and underground parties only to chuck it for a short two years to pursue a collegiate career. Drawn back by what he knew was his destiny, Stacey followed the voice of his muse, releasing his ritual beating system under the alter ego known as Bango. The full resonant tribal percussion of that release opened the musical minds of others who later followed with tribal dance tracks of their own. So the legacy was passed on to the next generation. Similar to the innovators that came before him, Stacey's first release was a big sound influencing others throughout the world. After working on remixing projects and accumulating releases on KMS Records, Eclipse Records, BMG/Ariola, Buzz, Pias/Belgium, RS, Warner, Virgin, and Transmat Records, to name a few, Stacey has been in demand all over the world mixing magic on the dance floors to countless fans. His exotic style has taken him all over North America, South America, Europe, Asia, New Zealand, Australia and the Caribbean. Essentially honorable and independent, Pullen is faithful to his techno roots while blending in airy house and ethnic elements. His production work has hit fame once again with his latest album Today Is The Tomorrow You Were Promised Yesterday, regrettably only available as an import in Canada. In demand on all continents, this DJ transcends his mixes on a host of dance-floors sending out inventive passionate rhythms for a state of total well-being. Stacey is currently following in the footsteps of his Detroit brothers by putting his energies into his own vision, Black Flag Recordings. Stacey's new label hopes to separate itself from the other Detroit labels by combining both music and art. Black Flag holds no boundaries in the approach to music as an art form. Each release will be a conceptual artistic endeavour, a concept influenced by famous 80's/90's art house labels. The end result is to use god's gifts to be free, to destroy the enslavement of conformity. SEVEN IN CONJUNCTION WITH GASP ENTERTAINMENT PRESENT AN EVENING WITH STACEY PULLEN SIX HOUR SET WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 25 @ SEVEN NIGHTCLUB 52 Albert Road, South Melbourne. Doors open 10pm. Presale Tickets $25 + bf from selected outlets. More on the door. See street press and flier for ticket outlet details.

Re: [313] STACEY PULLEN 'Today is the Tomorrow You Were Promised Yesterday'
Well here's the review I wrote for World Technoi Nation at the time The long awaited new album from Detroit's Stacey Pullen has met with mixed reviews since its release. This may be due, in part, to the high expectation following his excellent Theory of Silent Phase album on Transmat, an album that, with great standout tracks like 'Bodyrock', was soulful, organic and very Detroit sounding in the tradition of Mr May's label. What we have here, however, is something of a departure, an exploration of the kind of jazzy electronica that artists like Ian O'Brien or 4 Hero have been doing for some time now. Whilst all respect has to go to Stacey Pullen for trying to push the boundaries of his own music, the overall effect is of an artist experimenting and trying to find a groove that really works. The album lacks a clear direction and, whilst the majority of it spawns from Pullen's love of jazz and funk, the sense is of a collection of tracks as opposed to a cohesive and flowing album. Having said that there are some high points on offer. The Nu Jazz fusion of 'Futuristicfreakqueen' provides a frantic and live sounding drum beat (I'm not sure if all the drums were programmed or not, but its definitely the live effect that is desired), with a deep bassline and all manner of spaced out and futuristic effects that rise out through the drums. '40thstreetblack' is a slightly more laid back and groovy affair with a nice squelchy bit of analogue bass. Where the album is at its weakest is with the epic sounding and somewhat trancey workouts of cuts like 'Tsunami' and the more 4 to the floor orientated 'Powershot'. These tracks sound rather old and are not at ease sitting with the jazzy experimentation of the rest of the album. On the whole though, it is an interesting, brave and surprisingly mellow album that shows a lot of ambition, but lacks an original edge to really stand it apart from similar excursions. ___ Freeserve AnyTime, only £13.99 per month with one month's FREE trial! RE: [313] Stacey Pullen
Havent heard that, however, it would be very cool... Pure Science's last outing on B+ was smashing. For those who haven't heard it yet, I highly recommend it. Three tracks of housey techno, all of which are quality tunes-- one with a touch of acid. 'I Get Deep' uses the vocal sample from Norman Cook's *69, but uses the whole thing, not just the cheesey part he hooked. He just likes to change up his style, that's all, and he will tell you as much - it's a Gemini thang - hence the divergent reports on his style. He played Erykah Badu/The Roots last time in Melbourne and no one believes me on that one! He's very into his craft, always has been. Thx, I also have a similar query with the 1st Model500 LP on cd - that seems quieter too, but I guess the explanation might be the same ... rather than an audio equipment problem. (Excuse my atrocious grammar, earlier - I'm trying to do other things in between rapping about more interesting stuff so I rush occasionally.) ... I blame Tom Stiehler who masters for Tresor - on those CDs everything seems 'up' in the mix, crystal clear and hard ... one gets habituated to expect that kind of sound. -Original Message- From: Ian [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2002 10:05 PM To: Odeluga, Ken; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Org Subject: Re: [313] stacey pullen - electric relaxation on 1/24/02 5:54 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: It's melancholy but upbeat at the same time ... By the way, cd owners, do you find that it is 'quieter' than normal, certainly than more recent stuf you may have, or do I have a (audio!) equipment problem? More likely related to EQ than anything. The CD release does not appear to be lower in overall volume, but has tons of high frequency stuff, and is pretty soft on the bass end. If your system is geared in the opposite fashion, or if you simply dig bass, it might appear to be quieter than other CDs. -- im - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I remember the night you're talking about although I think I was mainly in the main room for Hawtin Aquaviva that night. I caught him the time before at The End and that was only about a month earlier. That time was the first time I heard him spin and I liked what I heard, all good dancefloor material. I imagine this style to be a more typical Pullen set, somewhere in between techno house but all excellent tracks to dance to. After that night I remember going record shopping looking for Stacey Pullen material as I was so impressed by what I heard. My point is really that he must have played a lounge set in the lounge, let him play in the main room and you'll get the harder side of Pullen - unless you're at Motor of course ;o) GG - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

So the final verdict on DJ Pullen? :o) I vote yes (as in I think he's 'good'). My reasons is that he's versatile and competent. Any reports to the contrary I'd attribute to fatigue or deliberate archness. Someone said that one of the nights upon which it's claimed he played poorly there were a lot of 'MTVers' in the crowd ... I know of at least 2 other occasions I've seen djs deliberately attempt to rile a crowd they didn't like: Aphex Twin - when his assessment of some skinheads he'd spotted at the front was not good, Carl Craig at The End - when no one liked his remix of Buena Vida - that was funny: 'What The Fuck!' he said when no one danced - But it got a cheer! -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, January 25, 2002 12:22 PM To: s mcgill Cc: 313; :P Subject: Re: [313] RE: (313) RE: (313) stacey pullen - electric relaxation I remember the night you're talking about although I think I was mainly in the main room for Hawtin Aquaviva that night. Wasn't Aphex's NYC debut playing sandpaper on one deck? I'm sure I read something ludicrous like that some years back? Saw Mills in Zurich late last year and after about 2 hours he looked at the admittedly lame crowd and raised his eyebrows, and probably thought I can't be arsed with this... he had been dropping a number of classics throughout. - Original Message - From: Odeluga, Ken [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Org 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Friday, January 25, 2002 12:48 PM Subject: RE: [313] RE: (313) RE: (313) stacey pullen - electric relaxation So the final verdict on DJ Pullen? :o) I vote yes (as in I think he's 'good'). his the shittiest DJ I've even gone to see 3-4 times I think most people agree that Stacey Pullen is a top DJ. I've only been to see him once but he made me get off the seat I was sitting on and go dance to a great selection of solid tech-house grooves for the rest of the night. I'm just waiting for his return to the U.K. On a production note I can't really comment but I do like the remix of 'Air Frog' (the only record of his I own!) well OK then, since I was promptly attacked by several people, let me qualify my statement: when you play at the motor and you actually make the crowd MOAN because you keep taking the bass drum out and slowing records all the way down, you are a shitty DJ. I have given him at least 4 trys now. I shit you not, the people at the motor collectively moaned because he's not able to mix without removing the bass drum... maybe I caught him on 4 bad nights, but then again, john acquaviva over the years has raised my expectations of DJs. no more flames, I wouldnt blast all of you for not liking a certain music.. even my own. -Joe -- R17 is not a fixed velocity, but it is clearly far too fast. -- - Original Message - From: Toby Frith [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: :P [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 313@hyperreal.org; Niko Tzoukmanis [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2002 9:41 AM Subject: Re: [313] RE: (313) RE: (313) stacey pullen - electric relaxation Bit harsh to say he's a bad DJ - he plays a variety of different sets - I've seen him a few times and he's always got an unexpected surprise up his sleeve. Have to dispute the bad dj bit ... Saw him at Mass, London, when he headlined after Jim Masters (a well known guy here) he was more than a match for that experienced dj. He may not be very innovative, but then not many are. He's still worth seeing I'd say ... I've also seen him play a downtempo/jazzy/breax set at The End with techno going on in the main room - which was actually very cool indeed. -Original Message- From: Toby Frith [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2002 2:42 PM To: :P; 313@hyperreal.org; Niko Tzoukmanis Subject: Re: [313] RE: (313) RE: (313) stacey pullen - electric relaxation Bit harsh to say he's a bad DJ - he plays a variety of different sets - I've seen him a few times and he's always got an unexpected surprise up his sleeve. hmmm maybe he had issues with the motor or was just being a crabby fuck and decided to stick it to the crowd. seriously tho guys, skill wise and selection wise, I dont think he lives up to his name. but he got that name somehow and I realize some peoples forte is production. it seemed as soon as I got dancing, he'd pull the bass drum or slow the record all the way down and stop it. thats fucking evil for a DJ to do IMO. I like to dance. then again, I was the only guy at motor that was like fuck you bad boy bill when he played there last. totally an mtv type crowd -Joe -- R17 is not a fixed velocity, but it is clearly far too fast. -- - Original Message - From: Toby Frith [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: :P [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 313@hyperreal.org; Niko Tzoukmanis [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2002 9:56 AM Subject: Re: [313] RE: (313) RE: (313) stacey pullen - electric relaxation I'm not flaming - it may be that when he's played there that's happened - just every time I've seen him he's been technically superb and more importantly, has got everyone moving! - Original Message - From: :P [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: Toby Frith [EMAIL PROTECTED]; 313@hyperreal.org; Niko Tzoukmanis [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, January 25, 2002 2:55 AM Subject: Re: [313] RE: (313) RE: (313) stacey pullen - electric relaxation well OK then, since I was promptly attacked by several people, let me qualify my statement: when you play at the motor and you actually make the crowd MOAN because you keep taking the bass drum out and slowing records all the way down, you are a shitty DJ. Also ... The Stacey Pullen LP out of the Virgin subsidiary Science, last year, was a small surprise to me. A decisive turn towards 'New' techno (largely). There was only 1 4/4 track on there. Interesting, v. weird and actually good for a toke ... I think he needs to work with other producers though, I find his own unadulterated sound starts to feel a little stilted or 'dry' over several different tracks ... on the whole though, very 313, very high quality. -Original Message- From: Toby Frith [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2002 2:42 PM To: :P; 313@hyperreal.org; Niko Tzoukmanis Subject: Re: [313] RE: (313) RE: (313) stacey pullen - electric relaxation Bit harsh to say he's a bad DJ - he plays a variety of different sets - I've seen him a few times and he's always got an unexpected surprise up his sleeve. that's a good one, and one of the good techno jazz approaches, unlike the last kirk degiorgio offworld album (sorry, just an opinion, if you hate me for that, don't hesitate to tell me your opinions..) actually there are not too many releases by stacey, but what i've heard from him are brilliant. also check his kosmic messenger stuff on trance fusion, plink plonk and elypsia... and 'polyphonic destruction' on end recordings, which is a killer of a track.. Do you know what? - I LIKED that Offworld thing. Very much! ('Offworld' goes very well with 'Inside The Outway' on the '01 Pullen LP, by the way) ... We need more jazz and fusion type o' stuff in techno or we'll all be deaf before we're 40 ... I think we'll all be deaf before we're 40 anyway but still ... Kirk has only shown flashes of some real innovation, you're right ... if that's what you're getting at. He also has a solo LP out right now ... take a trip thru that at your local listening post ... I wouldn't write him off just yet. -Original Message- From: Niko Tzoukmanis [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2002 3:09 PM To: 313@hyperreal.org Subject: RE: [313] RE: (313) RE: (313) stacey pullen - electric relaxation that's a good one, and one of the good techno jazz approaches, unlike the last kirk degiorgio offworld album (sorry, just an opinion, if you hate me for that, don't hesitate to tell me your opinions..) actually there are not too many releases by stacey, but what i've heard from him are brilliant. also check his kosmic messenger stuff on trance fusion, plink plonk and elypsia... and 'polyphonic destruction' on end recordings, which is a killer of a track.. There was only 1 4/4 track on there. Interesting, v. weird and actually good for a toke ... I think he needs to work with other producers though, I find his own unadulterated sound starts to feel a little stilted or 'dry' over several different tracks ... on the whole though, very 313, very high quality. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Is it a distribution thing or something? And what made Transmat step out of this construction? Planet E did the same thing, for the same reasons? In the case of Planet E, Carl signed to RS early on in his career as 69, but possibly, stipulated in his contract that the Planet E logo would also appear on the packaging. Regarding Transmat, as I've been told, RS bought a minority interest in the label to to release album projects, starting with Stacey's Silent Phase album (and probably hoping to leverage itself into the often rumored, Derrick May full length album). The only other release that RS has released is the Innovator box set. All the other projects Derrick had submitted to RS (Tony Drake, Indio) had been rejected so Derrick opted to release them himself. I think that the deal with RS is no longer in effect or Derrick took his interest back. pw

Picture the scenario (and I may be very wrong - correct me if I am) Renee says to Derrick Can I release some of your stuff? Here's a large advance Derrick replys D'oh, sure you can Renee, can I cash this straight away? Yes, you are wrong. Is the RS label still running? It´s a long time I heard from them.. Changes have gone down. It's now part of PIAS. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

is Staceys release work good? MS-20 (kenny larkin remix) and TMT-01 (meditive fusion) are for me the best techno releases EVER (in the top 10 at least...) - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

I saw him I believe 4 times at the motor last year. I love dancing and was willing to pay to see a DJ I knew I didnt like in hopes of getting my dance on :) plus, he's got a good reputation, but in what context I dont know. -Joe -- R17 is not a fixed velocity, but it is clearly far too fast. -- - Original Message - From: Odeluga, Ken [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: :P [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Org 313@hyperreal.org Sent: Thursday, January 24, 2002 10:13 AM Subject: RE: [313] RE: (313) RE: (313) stacey pullen - electric relaxation ok ... I never noticed him doing that when I saw him - twice. I would say definitively that he didn't mix in such a lazy and frankly embarrassingly crap manner. I'd notice, being able on dex (but no pro) myself ... When did you see him? It's funny how people's techniques can actually improve over the years ... anyone who saw Claude Young about 3 years ago and who's seen him in the last year will tell you that. Baffling. But I accept it's your honest opinion - just doesn't concur with my experience. -Original Message- From: :P [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, January 25, 2002 2:56 AM To: Toby Frith; 313@hyperreal.org; Niko Tzoukmanis Subject: Re: [313] RE: (313) RE: (313) stacey pullen - electric relaxation well OK then, since I was promptly attacked by several people, let me qualify my statement: when you play at the motor and you actually make the crowd MOAN because you keep taking the bass drum out and slowing records all the way down, you are a shitty DJ. Lovely variety in his sets is reflected by the material he releases. The CD release does not appear to be lower in overall volume, but has tons of high frequency stuff, and is pretty soft on the bass end. If your system is geared in the opposite fashion, or if you simply dig bass, it might appear to be quieter than other CDs. -- im - To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

yeah this was one of the best nights out and the best music I have heard for ages! I'm not hugely into housy stuff but it was good he mixed styles around so such a long set didn't get monotonous. great use of FX, usually DJs messing with FX annoys me but he did it just so well. and having a prepaid ticket meant I was permitted to walk the hallowed grounds of expensive, super snob seven nightclub without putting up with the arbitrary and bullshit decisions of the bouncers.
