Its always been like this. I made it a point long time ago to not to
 comment anything up untill I listen to ARRji's new composition for 
atleast a month or more than that. Its like a "SLOW POISON". I am sure 
the veteran RAHMANIACS would agree to this.

Iam writing this after listening to this album for a month. This is a treasure

Well I disagree.. I tried to listen to HR's Kajaree and after like 10 listens i 
gave up liking 1 song and the rest didnt work for me..

Honestly i give most of the good ones from other MDS abt 5 to listens.. 
somework and some dont..almost all of AR work for my ears and thats the reason 
i am in this grp.

also.

Earlier Rahman music was so unique and melodius..if u hear first time then u
will like it but nowadays rahman has lost that quality

[arr] Endhiran - The magic have finally been revealed to me

I have been listening to Endhiran non-stop ever since it released. I must 
admit. I didnt like it at the beginning. I felt as though most of the songs 
have fallen short of expectation. I was expecting to be blown out of my mind 
from sheer brilliance of the music. But what I got was songs that were at best 
brilliant at some point in bits and pieces.

But, boy oh boy, I couldnt be more wrong.

Many have spoken of ar rahman songs as slow poisons. I have also experienced it 
many times before. But this time, the effect is far more profound.

I am now singing a different tune. I now feel that Endhiran is one of Ar Rahman 
most briliiant commercial compositions of all time. 

It must seem as though I am overly exaggerating. But this is how I honestly 
feel. 

Why the sudden change in opinion you may ask?

Well, I dont know exactly why. Its as though my brain has started to finally 
tune in to the right frequency. 

Its as though I have finally come to a realization or an awakening to the 
genius. The Endhiran songs brilliance were revealed to me one layer at a time. 
Each song is a revelation. Every one of them.

I am at loss for words. I cant seem to express my thoughts clearly in words but 
the music is brilliant guys.

Music composed with the Super Star, The Robot element and Shankars grand vision 
in mind with plenty of magic all over.

Melody, Groove, Rap, Techno all mixed into a concotion of such potent musical 
brilliace that Tamil music has never seen or heard before.

I truly believe that many will come to experience the bliss of realization of 
the magic in Endhiran music once they are ready for it. Some realize it earlier 
and some will realize later. Everyone is different and will have to go through 
the process themselves to discover the magic. 

But without doubt, once the movie is released every one of us will be hooked to 
the songs.

At the beginning, many would only hear the beats and noisy sounds. But slowly 
the melody will reveal itself to our senses. And the combination of melody and 
modern grooves will bring us to a new experience in tamil music.

I cant only wonder what will happen when the movie comes out and we get to see 
the visuals together with the music.

Cant wait for that moment.

ARR is awesome in telugu in Inumulo O Hrudayam..
I think for this particular song he actually sounded better than
the tamil version Irumbile..
specially when he sings..
"poovaasanakochaadu; manmadhudai vachaadu"..

Oo maramanishi / pudhiya manitha is a clear winner..
grand, innovative; SPB is perfect and Khatija is equally 
soothing and innocent.
Wonder why is SPB missing in hindi version.

It is interesting to see how ARR switched the male and
female tunes in charanam-1 to female and male tunes in charanam-2 
of kilimanjaro.

PS: If I dont see the name, I might mistake Khatija for Harini
15 years back.

rythm.. but the little variation in the rythm & the rap section proves Rahmanji 
is Genius.

'Kilimanjora', wht to tell abt this song.. this song is Rahmanji Punch.. a love 
duet, heavy drum rythm, Melody, Folk based.. all in one song.. hw is this 
possible for u Rahmanji.. Awesome Song.. but javed ali's voice is not 
matching.. (My Choice is Udit Naarayanan).
'Boom Boom Robo', is it a Tamil Hip Hop..?! somewhat it remember earlier songs..
Overall i'm Fully Satisfied with this Album 'Endhiran'.

As Super Star Fan -
All songs are ok, except intro song 'Pudhiya manidha'.. i expected a much 
higher pitch, rythmic, fast beat like 'En peru padiyappa' or like 'Balleilakka' 
or like 'oruvan oruvan muthalali'..
Even I miss a Super Star Style song like 'Athiradi karan'.. i know this movie 
is not like earlier movies of super star.. but even though the intro song could 
have been in much little High Tempo..
Except that, i'm somewhat Satisfied with this Album.

  Taimur and Kishore, its ok to be dissapointed over the album. But to say 
the album is for kids, was kind of unbearable and an insult to us who r loving 
it tremendously. Seriously, the album had the typical Shankar - A.R.Rahman 
combo punch. I feel i was listening to a Kadhalan + Boys album. Very youthful 
(Kadhalan) and modern (Boys) as well. I will post my review soon, ofcource it 
wont be musically detailed, but it will be filled with praises and some critics 
along it.



In short, Endhiran is the most youthful and futuristic album from A.R.Rahman 
since Boys. Period.

I did a short instrumental of pudhiya manidha which I've posted here -

I was really fascinated by the synth programming on this song and had

Taimur and Kishore, its ok to be dissapointed over the album. But to say the 
album is for kids, was kind of unbearable and an insult to us who r loving it 
tremendously. Seriously, the album had the typical Shankar - A.R.Rahman combo 
punch. I feel i was listening to a Kadhalan + Boys album. Very youthful 
(Kadhalan) and modern (Boys) as well. I will post my review soon, ofcource it 
wont be musically detailed, but it will be filled with praises and some critics 
along it.

In short, Endhiran is the most youthful and futuristic album from A.R.Rahman 
since Boys. Period.

Reset your expectation meter just before listening to Enthiran, the expectation 
u have on the Songs stops it from growing on you. 


When i heard Muthalvan, Alaipayuthey, etc., for the first time I didnt like it 
as much as i like it now... but it grew on me slowly like a slow poisoner, 
whereas like Rhythm, Dil Se, Muthu they hit me directly at the first time. For 
me Muthu, is direct hit for me but few of Super Star fans didn't like the songs 
and protested against ARR for Muthu... rest is history (every one now claims 
the 
"Oruvan Oruvan" is the best of all rajin's intro music ...)


Raavan & Enthiran are the albums which has all the songs i like.. even in the 
VTV i will like to skip Anbil avan song sometime... i didnt find that catchy 
to...

Bottom line : 'Ennakku ippa pidikkalanu sollu... Nalla illannu sollathaa"

Now that u asked, yup, I did find that Aaj Dil Gustakh Hai wasn't
sweet.

i felt it was more spoken than sung. it was a type of poetry 
recitation sort of song that Rajesh Roshan had given aplenty in 80s, 
like, ham wo hain jo do aur do paanch bana de.

Why mention such odd song as an example of sweetness of ARR when he 
has given pure diabetics like Chupke Se, Diya Jale, and dozens more? 
probably u wanted to mention out of recent ones. well, why is khili 
rey khili not diabetic?

i am using diabetic not as criticism, just a pun.

There is cycle in everything, in all walks of life. if one's time is good, then 
even bad news will be ignored and will be perceived as good. the same with 
endhiran. if only ARR had enough time, things would have been better. the 
annoying usage of english rap unnecessarily in some endhiran tracks has killed 
the songs. also some songs are inane. even these songs which are mundane by ARR 
standards are being glorified because ARR is at his peak now in terms of fame, 
though not by his musical standards. If ARR had all the time he could ask for, 
he would have created a pure pyschedelic album in Endhiran (for eg. like 
I-Robot/Alan Parsons project) which would have taken music to a new level. The 
simple fact is, ARR has composed many gems which no one can ever compose, but 
which were really underrated. Pudhiya Manidha which is the best in Endhiran 
could have been further engineered for example.

I haven't heard it yet, waiting for hindi release.

And, thank god that you are certifying that it is good for kids. I 
remember Shankar's Nayakan's Rookhi Sookhi Roti that appeared such a 
stupid song when the album was released. Absolutely nobody liked it, 
not even kids.

But when the movie was releases, that song acquired a new area with 
its placement in the script and we all could see that only this song 
could have been there and gave full credit to ARR for coming up with 
the accurate song.

so? I hope history will repeat. Kids are innocent and don't think too 
much, don't expect too much like you and me, so they can enjoy music 
as it is. We elders cloud our pleasure with several things and 
"choose" not to like someone's hardwork of weeks and month and write 
such harsh things condemning them. But elders are open to logic and 
the movie visuals and script might provide them the logic they need to 
understand the significance of songs.

ARR is bound to give music as the producer director asks him to, not 
what Taimur and Kishore would like ARR to give.

And members should realize that ARR can give music that are not in 
personal liking by some members.

Ghajini, JTJYN was not my type of music. That was not a fault of ARR 
that I didn't like such type of music. So I had kept mum when these 
were released instead of endlessly criticizing accusing ARR that he 
had not given my type of music.

Now that u asked, yup, I did find that Aaj Dil Gustakh Hai wasn't
sweet.

i felt it was more spoken than sung. it was a type of poetry 
recitation sort of song that Rajesh Roshan had given aplenty in 80s, 
like, ham wo hain jo do aur do paanch bana de.

Why mention such odd song as an example of sweetness of ARR when he 
has given pure diabetics like Chupke Se, Diya Jale, and dozens more? 
probably u wanted to mention out of recent ones. well, why is khili 
rey khili not diabetic?

i am using diabetic not as criticism, just a pun.

Taimur,

while I agreed on some points in your review.. like the hindi lyrics. you
could try to use words that are a lot less harsh.  it is not always Rahman's
fault for not liking his albums.  it is film music and you have to
understand that the director plays a major role in choosing what he want for
his movie.  it also means  that you don't like a particular type of music.
been saying that  whenever you posted a review like this.

it's unfair to say the creativity is lacking.  there is plenty of creativity
in Enthiran. there are people who enjoyed the album and that  is enough to
prove that the album was innovative.  But, I didn't enjoy it. even after
honestly trying to like it, i don't like it.

Also, a masterpiece is something you call an absolute best work of a person.
so, there is no way you will find a 5 to 8 masterpieces in just one album.
there will always be weaker tracks.

[arr] Endhiran in repeat mode

Contrary to many at first the songs in loop for me were Pudhiya Manidha and 
Boom Boom Robo da...i was blown by the intro of Pudhiya Manidha song and the 
slow progression to SPB's thumping intro. And Boom Boom was unbelievably catchy 
with some cool interludes and charanams...I didnt even mind the resemblance to 
Ah Aah song...

But now the whole album is in a loop with Irumbil oru Idhayam, Arima Arima, 
Chitti Chitti and Kadhal Anukkal being my recent favs...I'm yet to understand 
the interesting structure of Kilimanjaro, but I'm sure its gonna be a rockin 
song soon.

Hats off to ARR for such an entertaining album with some classy snazzy beats in 
the lines of Techno and Trance Genres...Can't wait for the visuals now...Kadhal 
Anukkal visuals looked very promising..

Guys plz dun compare this to Raavan or VTV...they belong to diff 
genres...compare it with Love Story 2050 if u want as that was another sci-fi 
genre moviepun intended.

Whoa what a turn of things When Endhiran released, I was not impressed at 
all thinking it was too much noise and no tune whatsoever...but now everything 
seems to be perfectly woven and the magic is starting to slowly show up...

Ranking of songs from endhiran:

1)Pudhiya Manidha
2)Kadhal Anukkal 
3)Irumbile oru
4)Kilimanjaro
5)Arima
6)Boom Boom
7)Chitti Dance

There are flashes of brilliance in each song and one cannot but get bowled over 
by them...

Roshan,

Appreciate your input. This album will def not appeal to everyone. I like how 
you said, "it's not my taste" instead of "what's wrong with Rahman" or "ARR has 
lost it..." nonsense. I wish more could express disappointment like you do.

Give it a few more hearings...maybe you can salvage something from this album. 
If not, it's ok! Look forward to the next one and enjoy a huge ARR library 
collection that we already have.

Count me in. I have the same problem since the time i have caught hold of the 
CD. My wife has declared saying till this movie comes and goes I may have to 
live with this. Coz she knows after the music it will be BGMs. Cant wait for 
that.

from a specific timeline, please add *#t=00m:00s* at the end of the link...

For example, AR's speech starts exactly at 7 min and 17 sec...so the link

This would help a lot for mobile internet users with slow speeds

@wowjai36 - umm you can try going out, put songs in your iPod/Zune etc, and 
listen to the songs in park or something :P

First it was Pudhiya Manidha which was in indefinite loop. Now it is Irumbile 
ore idhayam. Just cant get out of it.

I am lost so much in Endhiran that my wife is now upset with me since yesterday 
evening. She is irritated that I dont do anything else. I dont know what is the 
solution for this.

Does Rahmanji have any solution for such domestic issues created because of him.
Maybe he should create another song to pacify my wife. hmmm..
