2008-12-10 Thread Vithur
Actually, the Snap is nothing but the old smile of ARR , he with a Guitar
which was taken during the SOk Photo Shoot.

Kalaipuli Dhanu, who was involved in SOK, has been the producer for this
movie, and this is clearly his marketing and advertising efforts.

Re: [arr] 'Sakkarakatti' runs a sweet 50

2008-11-14 Thread V S Rawat
I am curious about how they are calculating 50 days and jubilees nowadays?

I mean, a few days ago, a film was releasing only in a single theater in
a city in four shows a days, so it was easy to count days.

Nowadays, it is unusually released in more than one theater having 4
shows a day, and multiplexes show even more shows, 6 or more a day on
their various screen.

A recent film (probably fashion) got released in 4 multiplexes showing a
total of 24 shows in a day, plus in 2 cinema halls showing 4 shows a
days. That would mean 32 shows a day, that is equivalent to 8 days
equivalent if we count older 4 shows per day method.

Now, with 8 days per day, it would give 56 days equivalent of screenings
in a week that means any film running this way would complete 50 days in
the first week itself, by older standards.

How do they calculate it nowadays when various cities are screening in
different counts of theaters and multiplexes? In bombay, if a movie is
released in enough number of theatres, it might be completing 200 shows
(50 days equivalent) in a single day.

By doing this your are actually influencing people. Some might even wont want

Dear all,

I saw Sakkarakatti for the second time, and achieved the Guiness Record for

the Theatre operators would be seeing it the second time...

Boss would use the BGM he has put in the scene Reema takes a shower and goes
with the hero in the bike, for a forthcoming Hindi Movie. Its just superb. I
think, some new instrument ( may be the Dolak ) was used at that scene...

At the end scene, the way he has used the mixing of Chinnamma with
Marudhaani is simply superb. All credits to the Boss, for giving us such a
musical treat.

we were a group of five people ( all members of our ARR Fans group), who went
to see it today evening. In fact, the movie is running full theatres in Satyam
Cinemas, and we couldnt get tickets there. we had to go to Devi theatres in
Chennai, and see it somehow... That means, people are willing to come and watch
the movie for the songs and for getting the RDX ( real Digital Effect) ..

Eagerly awaiting the DVD for just ripping the BGMs... Hopefully soon.

Thanks.

Re: [arr] Sakkarakatti - My Guiness Record ( LOL)

2008-10-05 Thread Madhavan Rajan
Two things I liked in Sakkarakatti:
1) Our boss's BGM's, especially the first heroine's intro song (May be sung
by Viviane Chaix, not sure) and the final powerful remix of "Marudhaani"
tune and "Chinnamma" tune.
2) The power of Taxi Taxi that made everyone to stay back even after the
movie was over. They repeat the whole song once again!

What I hated the most:

1) Till date, this is the worst film one can ever imagine. It's a shame to
call it a movie.
2) The way the music was wasted...I hate the pathetic graphics done by Ocher
studios.

Since Rahmanji was forced and emotionally blackmailed to do this project,
the producers got a correct result for such cheap behaviour. As much as we
are happy to see AR working with Danny Boyle, it feels so sad to see AR
putting his efforts in these kind of cheap movies. Was it any other MD, they
would have either said "No" or would have given some simple tunes but it's
AR's dignity and his love towards music that makes him to put every best
effort irrespective of who the director is or what the movie is all about.

The movie really sucks but is there any lack from Rahman's part??
No, he did a great job in his part.
He cant do anything if the story is good or not.
thats not rahman's problem.
The Songs and BGM are very good.
WHat else u all expect from rahman..
Change the story??
It not his job.
Sometimes certain story is nice to hear without picturization and some story is
not good to hear before picturization.
But when they come out with scene then only can judge whether really good or
not..
maybe when they tell the story it sounds good and Rahman accept it and he have
no choice to rejects since the team can wait for rahman for years...

Again Rahman did a great job in his part.

Sorry for the poor language but still i'm fan of rahman.  :)

Sakkarakatti' laurels overseas

IndiaGlitz [Tuesday, September 30, 2008]

Sakkarakatti Gallery
Gained a spectacular opening, thanks to the opera composed by AR Rahman,
'Sakkarakatti' is now attaining laurels beyond the four seas. The usual
speculations rage high abroad for flicks starring Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan.
If not otherwise movies directed by the likes of Shankar, Mani Ratnam gains an
overseas market, for they are sure to enthrall the audience with their magnum
opus.
The habitual occurrence has been renovated for 'Sakkarakatti' as the movie
starring an all new cast in the lead has bagged a red carpet entry for the
first time in history. Erstwhile, about 32 prints had been distributed to be
screened abroad. Later, more prints were dealt to meet the demand.
Elated by the news Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu is on a high spirit. He preens on
the fact that this is the first time a movie starring debutants, which was
directed by a first time director has been acclaimed so wide.
Sakkarakatti' s feat has been made possible by a significant reason which is
the music composed by AR Rahman who came out with a spectacular show that
pepped up the movie.

ARR gave value for money earlier but it is not the case now. Busy
schedule is taking toll on him. ARR had earlier mentioned that if
there are 4 songs, he would give 4 perfect songs so that people get
VFM. Is that the case now? His quaility of output has decreased
sometimes and it is only because of his limited time and not
anything else. the arrangements are become stale. say out of 6 songs
in an album, only 2-3 are ok now which was not the case earlier.
there is nothing significantly refreshing in some of his recent
works. And being one of the ARR's oldest fans, I expect perfection
everytime.

that person's music sense need to be seriously questioned... .
And according to my perspective Rahman Sir has jus kept on excelling over the

ARR gave value for money earlier but it is not the case now. Busy
schedule is taking toll on him. ARR had earlier mentioned that if
there are 4 songs, he would give 4 perfect songs so that people get
VFM. Is that the case now? His quaility of output has decreased
sometimes and it is only because of his limited time and not
anything else. the arrangements are become stale. say out of 6 songs
in an album, only 2-3 are ok now which was not the case earlier.
there is nothing significantly refreshing in some of his recent
works. And being one of the ARR's oldest fans, I expect perfection
everytime.

2008-10-01 Thread Reformed Sinner
sriram - It all depends on your expectations. I guess you expect totally
out-of-the-world fresh music everytime an ARR album releases. Most of the
times that is not going to happen.

Things were different in the 90s. ARR's music and sound stood out among the
other music that was coming out then. But since 2000, if you notice, lots of
music composers are sounding more & more like ARR. They have incorporated
lots of Rahmantic sounds into their music. So the uniqueness of Rahman's 90s
music was diluted and Rahman was forced to change his style.

Just think from ARR's point of view. If he keeps giving 90s style of music,
people complain he is repetitive. If he changes his style to something
different, people say his style is gone and his quality has decreased.
Either way there are only complaints. He cannot satisfy all every time.

coming back to expectations, i guess if Sakkarakatti was composed by any
other MD, you would have probably called it good music. But since it is from
ARR, you are expecting much more. i wud say sakkarakatti is not that bad,
but it is not fair to compare it with ARR's previous works. It is good in
its own way.

If some one says Marudani and Elay are atrocious compositions then I think,
that person's music sense need to be seriously questioned...
And according to my perspective Rahman Sir has jus kept on excelling over the

Dude hows does the usage of such language/words amount to constructive
criticism. .

"has ARR scored the music or one of ARR's servants"
or
"nothing but pure jink"
or
"trashed out "
or
"atrocious music"

Your message without these words could have been considered some form of
feedback...but this to me does not seem like it

Its ur choice ...its ur liking ..u r welcome to express yourself (and people
will respond with their thoughts ...as you might have noticed by the number
of responses ...your mail has generated)

But please dont disguise it under the garb of "constructive criticism" or
whatever

2008-10-01 Thread sriramvr_in
ARR gave value for money earlier but it is not the case now. Busy
schedule is taking toll on him. ARR had earlier mentioned that if
there are 4 songs, he would give 4 perfect songs so that people get
VFM. Is that the case now? His quaility of output has decreased
sometimes and it is only because of his limited time and not
anything else. the arrangements are become stale. say out of 6 songs
in an album, only 2-3 are ok now which was not the case earlier.
there is nothing significantly refreshing in some of his recent
works. And being one of the ARR's oldest fans, I expect perfection
everytime.

Why should we as fans break our heads about which  director  ARR choses? IS he
not the best judge of the situation? What Knowledge do we have to make such
accusations? As for Harris, he is a good singer who was nurtured by ARR. Am
sure ARR n Harris share a good rapport so why don't we just sit back and enjoy
ARR's music which is in tune with the times instead of being over critical
about him. Healthy criticism is always welcome by all but pointing an accusing
finger at some1 as great as ARR is simply not accepted..

Sakkarakatti may not be a classic like his works in the 90s but it
definitely is not bad like you said. Couple of numbers are rocking and sadly
that is all you get from ARR's recent works. Once in a while an album like
Jaane Tu or Ada comes from ARR where every single song is enjoyable.
Otherwise it is mostly just 2 or 3 numbers. Just enjoy the songs you like
and don't listen to the rest.

And don't ever hope for another 90s kind of album. He was at his prime then.
Back then he had to prove to the world that his success was no fluke. Today
he is the greatest composer in Asia. He doesn't have to prove anything to
anyone. After Lagaan, his style has changed to a more matured kind. Let us
live with it.

oh ya, director bharathiraja was saying this in sakkarakati audio release.

hats off to ARRs guts to stay away from bharathiraja and i wish he never
does music in his direction again. ARR gave excellent songs for tajmahal and
kangalal kaidhu sei and that director jus WASTED all the songs and both
movies were flop.
i watched the kangalal kaidhu sei movie 2 weeks after the release and i
remember only handful of people watched that movie.. also, most of em' wud
never know if there was a movie like that..

and s, i absolutely agree with keeny's comments..
if u remember in sakkarakkati launch function, ARR said to the press
reporters that backiyaraj is a legend and he partly accepted the movie under
that concern... absouletly, it is an emotional blackmail. another guy who
will join this league is SJ suryah.. man, if he screws up with his
forthcoming movie puli, then i wish ARR stays lightyears away from him.

It is Srinivasamurthy who has done the re-recording. He said that he
has the habit of fast forwarding the scenes, which do not require any
recording work, but for Sakkarakatti he was never inclined to do so.
All credit for that goes to the screenplay.

Re: [arr] Sakkarakatti releasing this Friday

2008-09-24 Thread Sreekrishnan R

Sakkarakatti got cleared by the censors, with a clean 'U' certificate

It is a classic confrontation this week at the box- office.

Two
films with debutants and having chartbusting songs- Kathalil Virunthe
and Sakkarakatti are going for each others throat, as they try to woo
the youth audiences.

The producers of both the films are good
friends on the same side of the political divide and tried desperately
not to clash. But both want their films to have atleast a four week run
before Diwali, so are forced to release on Sep 26.

On Tuesday
(Sep 23), Sakkarakatti got cleared by the censors, with a clean 'U'
certificate. The producer of the film, Kalaipuli.S. Thanu says he is
planning the biggest ever release for his film this Friday.

If Actor Shaantanu, who is the hero of Sakarakatti, is to be
believed then the Movie is releasing on the 2nd of October. It seems
there was some problem with the distribution of the movie.. It has
been solved and it'l release on the 2nd..

Rahman is in a league of his own. The master composer that he is, is not tired
of trying new sounds and experimenting various variations with his musical
score.
Having achieved terrific feats in his filmi career, Rahman comes up with
musical scores that challenge his previous bests. This is the stuff that genius
is made of. A music composer, who can come up with melody, hip-hop or peppy
numbers at his will, Rahman has brought out the youthful fragrance in him with
'Sakkarakatti' .
Working with a debutant Kalaprabhu, Rahman has brought out new sounds that have
the potential to mesmerize listeners. With right vocals and excellent
instrumentation, 'Sakkarakatti' is as sweet as sugar candy.
Songs like Taxi, Chinamma are sure to become anthems among the young at heart.
The likes of Blaze, Benny, Madhusree and Chinmayee truly scintillate.
The songs have been designed in such a way that hearing them once is good
enough for the tunes to stick on to hearts. The melody maker in Rahman is at
his best in 'Sakarakatti' and the music album is sure to go places. From a Blog
which unfortunately contains download links for the songs

My system is replacing sakkarakatti CD tag details with that of

ARRs Dubai concert thing..whats the deal with it?

Something messedup while CD track registration I think.

Taxi song has become - intro speech and

Marudani has become - kehna hi kya? similarly other tracks.

Does it happen to anyone else?

How can Good Morning Tamilnadu be in Sakkarakatti, when the song is from
another Tamil Film by name Thalaikizh... Whats happening here ??.

Is it that you downloaded that song from somewhere and thought it to be
Sakkarakatti and are still enjoying it, thinking it to be Sakkarakatti.

I guess he would have got a pirated CD.. This makes me remember an old
incident.. During Mudhalvan, I was hearing to AIR sitting in my friend's
shop in Burma bazaar chennai.. The song, kurukku siruthavale was about to be
played and the singer's list given by the comperer included actor Arjun's
name.. I had the CD at home and I didnt remember seeing Arjun's name in the
credits.. So asked my friend to give me a copy of Mudhalvan audio CD and
interestingly it had Arjun's name in the credits.. Bingo it was a pirated
CD.. ;o)

It means "only passage of time will make her realise her mistake"  (meaning,
she will learn in course of time)

Hi Rawat,

Thanks for that effort!! But, there are a few mistakes I could spot...

here u go:

This one is not a mistake, but I felt it could have been put better to bring
out the complete essence of these lines:

Avan idhaya veetil vaazhum tamil degam venthu poagum
ena avan arunthida maataan SUDU neerum sudu soarum

He won't have hot-water or hot-rice, as it would burn the girl who's inside his
heart
(This idea is an adaptation of famous verses from Thirukkural)

The other place where I made correction was:

oruthikkaaka vazhkira jaathi, unaravillai innoru paathi...
(He is) someone who lives for (and loves) just this one girl...
But, his other-half (the girl) doesn't understand it!!!

as for the line for which
you couldnt get the exact meaning -- I too couldnt make out what the first
part was - all because of one word... i dont think it is vooda, but i dont know
what it is!:

aathiram naethiram vooda .  paalayum KaLLaai aval paarkiraal
She suspects even milk to be toddy   (kaLL =
toddy)

Cheers,
Aravind

Thanks Aravind, for correction. You are most welcome.

I don't know tamil, so when I saw English translations posted, I picked
that and translated from there. Several things could not become clear to
me, in these two as well as the other songs. It is good that you corrected.

Hope members would enjoy the songs more, now that they know the correct
lyrics in three language.

And yeah, let me mention that I have Vali's name a lot. So, I am
enjoying the moment of having translated Vali's lyrics.

ஆத்திரம் நேத்திரம் மூட, பாலையும் கள்ளாய் அவள் பார்க்கிறாள்
Aathiram neththiram mooda, paalaiyum kaLLaai avaL paarkiraaL
WITH ANGER AND HASTE COVERING HER EYES, SHE SUSPECTS EVEN MILK TO BE TODDY

Exactly. RDB was also instantly likeable while JA needed time to grow.

So, with 3-4 albums which are instantly likeable, ARR has definitely
answered people who questioned this need-to-grow attribute of his music.

Hey Karthik Great review. I liked the way u keenly hear a song and review it
one by one. By the way naan Epoudha and chinnamma are his older compositions.
They have been already composed in Hindi for the movie Meenaxi: The Tale of 3
Cities. Nevertheless I agree. Mindblowing stuff in Elay.

I guez this album wud create history..

A best album given by Rahman after Boys..

A fabulous stuff.. watt songs.. nearly 500 times I have listened all songs are
good..

1."Eley" Waata classy composition. . I felt its a better version than
"roobaroo"RDB which has more of an Irish Jazz touch..I feel this bcz Roobaroo
has a simple scale transition.. The harmonica and violin are said to be
perfectly rendered.. The acoustic guitar scale transition in the "Eley" when it
is repeated seems to be an outta world progression. . No tamil or hindhi song
has such a transition, I find a mixture of Jazz &Blues genres.. The lyrics
seems to very suitable for the tune it carries away anybody to 500 yrs from
now..

2."Marudani" This song is gonna be the song of the year.. The melody, the tune
and freshness it has in it can beat any track. The loop seems to be very unique
and new. The important point is that the tracks tune overlooks the
orchestration. . The first Piano interlude starting of with a major transition
just flows in ur mind straight away and the middle parah's highlight seems to
be our Rahmanji's humm it comes in fades away within phew secs.. the song's
lyrics is said to be very colorful based on the tradition of a gurl and her
love..

3."Naan Epothu" This song would capture anybody in the first listen.. Watta
tune man it kills anybody with its feel.. The best part is that the remade
lyrics suits well in tamil.. I feel this song seems to be different in tamil ..
The lyrics and feel made me cry.. I simply love it..

4."Chinnama" This song seems to be a pure south Indian composition. . It makes
anybody to dance.. A next "Chayya Chayya" in the making.. The voice of Benny
seems to be better than that of Sukhwinder and Chinmaye I doubt whether it was
her voice bcz it was totally different from "I miss u da" this shows her
versitalty. This song wud be a mass hitt.. The lyrics and tune seems to be even
more better in tamil..

5. "Taxi Taxi"  This song a pure youth anthem on the cards.. The track has an
international ffeel..It has spanish & french lyrics..The backgrounds pads and
bass seems to be the best part of the song..

The song has French lyrics..

il faut que je me depeche parce qu'on m'attend au chennai
il faut que j'aille prendre le taxi à Paris
It means "it is necessary that I myself depeche because one awaits me to the
chennai i must will take the taxi to Paris"

Another main part is the lyrics on friendship..

6. "I miss u da"

The song tune is of 50's but the song's beat and orchestration seems to be
trance and a bit of arabic in the interludes.. The song is like a dream ..
nobody could imagine an orchestration this way..

tamil ppl.. will know more regarding this sorta compositions. .I guezz Well bcz
.. These kinda songs where given by MS.Viswanathan in the past 1950's, tracks
like "Maalai Pozhundhin Mayakam" which is considered to be a super hit in the
50's which is too of the same kinda genre. I feel he is trying out new style of
compositions like bringing out old 50's music touch with a new unique kinda
orchestration. . Well!! tracks like "Mayail Iragae","thigu thigu","Munbae Va",
"Inisaai", "Thazhuvadhu" , "Maja Maja" will all come under this catogory.. The
track "thottal poo malarum" new was too a track of M.S.Viswanathan re-tuned
version of Rahman..

Tamil ppl like these kinda songs bcz the old type feel is still considered to
be evergreen.. And since it has been softwares dominating the period of time..
Well, Rahmanji is trying something to look back, i.e to look back to old music
which is said to be lost..

I feel this could be a trend change.. Soon there would be a demand for these
kinda songs..

Whenever i listen to this i find something new.. It grows on one slowly...

-Normally I wud not get completely satisfied.. with an ARR album.. but this
album seems to be something above, it seem

-Normally I wud not get completely satisfied.. with an ARR album.. but this
album seems to be something above, it seems to be more than expectations. .
This album would surely be noticed for many more years to come.. Sure that its
gonna create a history.. Rahmanji has done his best ever..

Lets hope the best & pray for the Director to equalize the expectations &
standards something creative in his videos.. Bcz the video would play an
important role to make the songs familiar among ppl..

Regards
Karthikh

MUSIC: A.R.RAHMAN

LYRICS: NA.MUTHUKUMAR, VAALI, PA.VIJAY, BLAAZE

RATING: 4/5

The
maestro is back this time in Tamil to make u dance to his tunes with
some hip shaking, mind blowing music with all the experimentation’s you
can ask for in a Rahman album all of it which gives it a fresh feel.
Some songs will take time to sink in as all Rahman songs do but all
songs are sure to make u tap ur feet.

Chinnamma (Benny Dayal, Chinmayii)

Adapted
from ARR’s earlier film in Hindi “Meenaxi” this song sets off with a
brilliant flute composition and Benny Dayal just dazzles with this
number. He is the highlight of the song taking over the music and
lyrics , just gets you with his haunting voice. Chinmayii falls a
little short to cope up with Benny but has done nothing wrong. The
background music and percussion’s just blends with the song that is
ought to be a huge hit among the masses.

Elay (Naresh Iyer, Krish)

A
song that starts off with traces of “Roobaroo” from RDB but then the
guitar strumming and violin which have become Rahman’s obsession just
takes over and is the main attraction of the song overshadowing great
vocals from both singers. Naresh and Krish do what they do best and
this song can go on to become Mustafa Mustafa-Part 2. Na.Muthukumar’s
lyrics are just right to make this song click among the youngistan’s.

I Miss U Da (Chinmayii,Indai Haza)

This
song is brilliantly set up with Chinmayii chanting the “Eminee…” with
her amazing voice and just pulls you into this song. Rahman has done a
great job with the background instrumentation to give a unique feel to
this song. Chinmayii has put in a lot of effort into the song to give
the perfect feel for the song. A song that will be popular among the
radio stations.

Marudhaani (Madhushree, A.R.Rahman, Henry)

Rahman
proves he is king of melody with this special number which has
excellent vocals of Madhushree who has worked hard to get her
pronunciations right. ARR disappoints his fans by not singing a number
but his humming and perfect background musical support gives a great
boost to this wonderful composition from the master. As a fan of ARR i
would have loved to see him sing a whole number in this album but you
cannot take anything away from this magical piece of melody.

Naan Eppodhu (Reena Bharadwaj)

Great
percussion’s and some wonderful music by the maestro take this
melodious number to the next level. Although Reena Bharadwaj’s voice is
so soothing it sometimes makes you feel she wasn’t suited for the song.
Nevertheless another melody from Rahman’s fort.

Taxi Taxi (Benny Dayal,Blaaze, Viviane Chaixe,Javed Ali)

Wow!!!Wat
a song…just makes you dance with its initial hearing. Blaaze proves why
he is the best in business and sets up this songs for the singers and
Benny Dayal and Rashid Ali yet again prove their mettle. The french
utterings in the middle of the song by Viviane Chaixe just blends
perfectly with the song. A peppy number which has all the variations
which is surely going to be the Anthem for youngsters in the coming
days.

Top 3 of the Album

1. Taxi Taxi
2. Marudhaani(Get mesmerized with Rahman’s Humming)
3. I Miss U Da

A
typical ARR album which is fresh, peppy, fun and has all the right
ingredients to make it a clear hit among the masses. Rahman yet again
works up his magic in compositions and Shantanu could not ask for a
better way to kick start his career in kollywood…and ARR proves that he
is still the best in Business…

About Chinnama song:
. " Benny sings very similar to Udit,
the singer of the original Chinnamma. But Benny beats udit with his
proper Tamil pronounciation. We could hear Udit’s humming at the ending
point of this song!."

dats strange, it was sukhwinder singh who sang original meenaxi chinnamma song
and not udit Narayan..

The long awaited soundtrack of the movie Sakkarakatti has hit the
stores yesterday. Rahman has scored half a dozen bright and colorful
songs for this ‘Shanthanu’ starrer.
1. Taxi Taxi*
Singers: Benny Dayal, Blaaze, Viviane Chaix and Javed Ali
Lyrics: Blaaze, Na Muthukumar, Viviane Chaix
Basically a friendship song like Mustafa, full of Blaaze’s Rap
interludes, Vivian’s ooh laas and french chants. The rhythm of this
song is pretty ordinary but the vocals and other additions take it to
the next level. This song gives us the feel of a ‘Bollywood’ number.
Lyrics bringout this ‘ipod’ age’s friends and their relationships with
a bit of slapstick humour. Pals dont miss this!
2. Marudhani
Singers: Madhushree, A R Rahman, Henry
Lyrics : Vaali
Probably a heroine solo melody, with soft beats and chorus. Pleasant
interludes and Rahman’s hummings complete this soft but quick number.
This is the only song which contains ARR’s voice in this album. Dynamic
Vaali’s lyrics are spoiled by Madhushree’s poor Tamil accent. So a kind
request to Madhushree:’Please find a good tamil teacher before
commiting your next Tamil song’.

3. I Miss You Da*
Singers: Chinmayi, Indai Haza
Lyrics : Na Muthukumar
Another solo female song in which ARR has experimented with converting
different ordinary sounds into one sweet melody. Appears to be a fusion
of pop music and dubstep genre. Chinmayi’s versatile voice realises
ARR’s dream. Also the song progresses with ‘Adhiradikkaran’ kind of
beats now and then. The chorus and beats are avant-garde. May demand a
lot of listening before you love it. Muthukumar’s lyrics are very
ordinary and fails to impress. The feel produced by this song is
similar to the effect produced by ‘Maja Maja’(SOK) and
‘Kettena’(Desam). A song for the world!
4.Chinnamma
Singers: Benny Dayal, Chinmayi
Lyrics : Pa Vijay
A Tamil version of the song ‘Chinnamma Chilakkamma’ from Rahman’s
soundtrack for the Hindi movie Meenaxi(2004). Though a repetitive
seranade from ARR, not disappointing. Benny sings very similar to Udit,
the singer of the original Chinnamma. But Benny beats udit with his
proper Tamil pronounciation. We could hear Udit’s humming at the ending
point of this song!. Benny’s adaptable voice eeks out his best at the
high pitch areas. Chinmayi in this song sounds very different from ‘I
miss you da’. Both the singers have given their maximum effort in this
song. Pa Vijay’s lyrics have perfectly fit this Andhra folk song. The
song begins like an old Telugu song played in a old philips radio.
Fantastic! One of ARR’s best folk numbers. The Andhra feel reminds us
‘Errani Kurrani’(Kadhalan) song. With the usage of folk instruments and
a few western equipment Rahman has challenged the kuthu song world!

5.Elay*
Singers: Krish ,Naresh Iyer
Lyrics : Na Muthukumar
Seems to be the ’soul’ song of this movie. Full of guitar sounds,
violin pieces and quick beats. Though the music is of the Rock genre,
the lyrics and violin gives us ‘at home’ feeling. A positive and
pleasant song which bridges east and west. Though a number of
instruments are used, nothing goes haywire. Wonderful orchestration and
coordination by ARR. In this song Muthukumar gains what he lost in ‘I
Miss you da’ song. The song ends by providing us a jazz feel. Krish and
Naresh sing exactly with the feel of south Indian boys. At times this
song reminds us ‘Roobaaroo’(Rang De Basanti). But the utilisation of
other instruments makes this song different.
6.Naan Epodhu
Singers: Reena Bharadwaj
Lyrics : Pa Vijay
Another reiteration from Meenaxi. The Same singer is called back. A
wonderful North Indian style song, with a lovely tune and guitar
interludes. Beautiful addition of effects at right times. Right choice
of voice. Totally an awesome song. But, this awesome song is stained by
the awkward pronounciation(Pen or pin??!!) of the singer. This is the
third female solo song of this album and the shortest one. Pa Vijay’s
romantic lyrics along with excellent instrumentation doesn’t fail to
create the intended swooning effect. A sweet song!

the sing is just excellent.. i m a big fan of groovy numbers like this.. fanaa,

blazee has rendered this song.. i have always liked his rap stuff. blazze's
excellence well showcased in PFMB where ARR proved that rap can fit inside such
a moving song.. hats off to ARR for coming up an idea like that and
experimenting it.. one should have have REAL guts to do an experiment like
that, especially when the album has only one song..

ok, rap apart, the trailer has refreshing visuals and most importantly some
amazing dance steps. its been a while since i've actually seen actors "dance"
for ARRs song. last one i remember is for fanaah from yuva. boys songs had
great dance. loose control from RDB was not a full-fledged dance number though.
needless to say that chaiya chaiya dance steps are mindblowing.
abhishek can't dance saala in guru:)
JA had hrithik but Akbar can't dance pyara :)
jaane tu had pappu cant dance saala song but i thought harman could have
handled it better :p
i expected lot from vijay in ATM but somehow it was not upto his caliber.

ok, rumblings apart, finally lands sakkarakatti wth some promising visuals to
rock and roll...awesome! !!

Re: [arr] Sakkarakatti exclusive

2008-07-10 Thread Thulasi Ram
again, an exclusive treat for our group.. thanx Gopal. it started with ATM
and it will continue forever!

the sing is just excellent.. i m a big fan of groovy numbers like this..
fanaa, oru koodai sunlight, merlyn monroe from ATM and now taxi taxi.. m so
happy that blazee has rendered this song.. i have always liked his rap
stuff. blazze's excellence well showcased in PFMB where ARR proved that rap
can fit inside such a moving song.. hats off to ARR for coming up an idea
like that and experimenting it.. one should have have REAL guts to do an
experiment like that, especially when the album has only one song.

ok, rap apart, the trailer has refreshing visuals and most importantly some
amazing dance steps. its been a while since i've actually seen actors
"dance" for ARRs song. last one i remember is for fanaah from yuva. boys
songs had great dance. loose control from RDB was not a full-fledged dance
number though. needless to say that chaiya chaiya dance steps are
mindblowing.
abhishek can't dance saala in guru:)
JA had hrithik but Akbar can't dance pyara :)
jaane tu had pappu cant dance saala song but i thought harman could have
handled it better :p
i expected lot from vijay in ATM but somehow it was not upto his caliber.

ok, rumblings apart, finally lands sakkarakatti wth some promising visuals
to rock and roll...awesome!!!
