Hello RK,

This might happen when you use the following link to log in to the

2008-05-15 Thread ITSM Support

*Hi Tarun,*

For the BMC Site Time out error, please contact BMC Support Person..they
will definitely reply...

For the missing fields, when you are trying to create change
request...because of your change mgmt is not installed properly.

You can see in change mgmt installation log files

I had faced this situation before..for this i exported def file for
‘CHG:Association-CI Join’ and related object from another ITSM machine...

And import it in my machine...
Then I was able to create a change ticket...

Hope this will help you
Please let me know, if any further query!!!

Hi,

Can somebody share ITSM 7.0.02 Change/Asset/ Problem Management
patches 7 for all three modules? We tried at BMC site but not able to
load due to time out error.

We are using Windows environment with ARS 7.1 and CMBD 2.1. Actually
when we are trying to create a ticket in change module after
successful completion of installation, it is giving some error on some
missing fields and forms. e.g. ‘CHG:Association-CI Join’ form is
missing although it’s field’s reference are there in filters and other
workflow objects.

Re: Import into HPD:HelpDesk ARS 6.3

2008-05-15 Thread Susan Palmer
I have an older version of HD but one example of a filter name is
SHRH:SHR-SubmitConsolidated. You find one under SHRT: and SHRTC:You'll
find the fields on the consolidated form that are created when a new record
is first created. I think you might be able to check Merge on the filters
and the records you import should then create the consolidated records.
You'd have to test that. The SHR:Consolidated form is the key to many
things.

I had tried that, but just did it again just to make sure. Made no

I'm on a different PC right now and it reacts the same as my office PC. I
cleared the cache on my office PC serveral times today also. Trying to

Re: Import into HPD:HelpDesk ARS 6.3

2008-05-15 Thread Heinzel, Jamie
Does this work in ARS 6.x or is it for 7.x only?

Also I see in 7.x there is a form called HPD:IncidentInterface_Create
that will do what I am looking for. Is there an equivalent on 6.x or is
it possible to modify it and use it on 6.x?

Thanks again,

Jamie

Fred, I think I can see how pushing data to that record would fully automate
the task of turning on a SQL log. It's a bitmasked value, so just pushing
the right value to the record would turn on the appropriate logs. I'll give
that a try.

I looked at using the new Server Event calls, but the
AR_SERVER_INFO_SQL_LOG_FILE Run Process call can only be sent from an Active
Link, and it isn't intended (or probably even enabled) to deal with server
settings, even though the event can be logged as such.

It would be more doable on 7.x, I think, but I still can't quite noodle out
a way to make it happen there, either.

Re: Roles and Dynamic Groups

2008-05-15 Thread LJ Longwing
Well...other dynamic groups such as 'Assignee Group' and 'Public' are
available in Deployable Apps without the need to give them roles. So I must
assume that you don't need to give ones you create yourself roles either...I
had never even really thought about that before...:)

Subject: Roles and Dynamic Groups

**

Okay, this is my last question today, I promise. This is kind of a wrap-up
of some of the questions I've posted lately.

How do you create the role for a dynamic group when using deployable
applications?

I tried by creating the role like normal. I kept the same name for the role
and the group, they are both Purchaser. To the roll, I gave the negative
group id, 60003 was the group id, so I gave the role -60003.

The problem I had was that whenever I went into an object to add
permissions, both the role and the group showed up. Basically, Purchaser
showed up twice. None of my other roles do this, only the roles for dynamic
groups.

So, I deleted the roles thinking maybe you don't need roles for dynamic
groups, even though what little I can get out of the documentation says you
do, even though it always talks about regular and computed groups when
creating roles. Now, any time I add a dynamic group permission to an object,
everyone in the world gets access to the object, not just the person in the
Purchaser field. So, basically, once I deleted the role for Purchaser, and
put just the group for Purchaser on the field, then remedy started giving
everyone access.

I can kind of see why it would do this, but my main question is why does
Purchaser show up twice in my group list on my permissions tab for an object
if I have a role created for it?

I'm sure this is an elementary question, but I've never needed to use both a
dynamic group and a deployable application.

Hi,

When the AR Escalation tries to update the record - there is an error that
says the Login ID can only be deleted by members of the Contact Organization
Admin or Contact Support Admin group - which is preventing this from modifying
the record to LOWERCASE. AR Escalator is Admin. Did you experience this
error - perhaps this can be fixed by changing the permission on the login
field?.

That is the way I did it, including defaulting some NULL fields that Remedy
requires. I have an escalation that pulls the AD data (via a vendor form)
into a staging table, which then uses filters to do validations and
auto-population of some data, then if it passes all the validations, passes it
into the
CTM:People form and all the related forms that need populated. It sounds
like you already have that, but need to use a LOWER() function in your Push
Fields that passes the Remedy Login Name field.
Something else that will be useful for you is to set up another filter to
find users to automatically disable too. In my filter to do that, I have:
(( 'userAccountControl' = 514) OR ( 'userAccountControl' = 546) OR (
'userAccountControl' = 65538) OR ( 'userAccountControl' =  66050))
The userAccountControl field are set to those values when a person is
de-activated, so you can create a filter to set them to “Obsolete” in
CTM:People
as well as set Support Staff? To No and remove all their permissions. This
helps quite a bit in keeping license costs down because you’re not wasting
licenses by maintaining them for people that are no longer with the company.

Hi,

AR System: 7.0.1

Thru workflow, data is passed from Active Directory into Remedy vendor
tables then thru escalations into Remedy CTM:People. We have users that
sometimes
enter the field values in upper/lower case. Whenever they enter
uppercase/lower case or leave certain fields BLANK, the record does not get
into the
CTM:People form. I would like to build workflow that changes the case to
LOWERCASE and does error-checking on records that come from AD that don't make
it
into the CTM:People form. Am I approaching this correctly, or is there a
better way?

Re: Cmdb-new class,new attributes

2008-05-15 Thread john rosquist
BMC has a white paper on this.
Yes, you can extend the class.  Create a new namespace to put the new fields in
and give them UNIQUE names.  As long as the names do not come into conflict
with a BMC field name all will be well.  Storage in the new namespace will
protect it from most things that an upgrade will do to it.
IMO, removing BMC_ prefix will seriously break the ENTIRE cmdb, but it can be
done. Instead of renameing the form consider changing the display name to be
computersystem. This would give you the same effect, but a minimum of impact
You can join the CS to the app forms assuming there is a good key.  Be sure not
to prefix it with BMC_ and it should survive an upgrade unless one to the two
end forms are dropped for some reason.

LJ, I found the post from Feb. 2006, though the attachment wasn't saved
(apparently) to the archives.

Fred, I think I can see how pushing data to that record would fully automate
the task of turning on a SQL log. It's a bitmasked value, so just pushing
the right value to the record would turn on the appropriate logs. I'll give
that a try.

Thanks to you both!

Re: Automated server logging control

2008-05-15 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
Just do a Push to the "Configuration ARDBC" form (as long as you have
the ardbcconf plugin loaded). This form allows access to the ar.conf
file thru the User Tool.

The record where Name = "Debug-mode" is the log level. I believe a
change to data on the form automatically forces the server to re-read
the conf file.

I looked at using the new Server Event calls, but the
AR_SERVER_INFO_SQL_LOG_FILE Run Process call can only be sent from an

with server settings, even though the event can be logged as such.

In addition to what LJ says, I think you might want a char field on the
child form to hold the filename of the jpg (put a filter on the child form
to update it on submit & modify). Then you can use the char field in the
table field on the parent form so they can see the filename.

Also, if you put the display only attachment pool on a hidden tab, make
sure the user has permissions to the tab as well as the pool (or put the
pool somewhere else). I think this is a registered bug, but I don't have
the number handy. This bug was for a 6.3 server, I haven't tested on 7.x.

Really quite simple once you think about ityou already have the
attachment form with its attachment pool and field, you already have the
table field on your main form showing you all of the records, that's 90%
of the way. Now you need an attachment pool on your main form, and a
display only attachment field. Disable table drill down on the table
field, create an AL that fires on dbl click of the table row that does a
setfield from the attachment form to your main form into the display only
attachment field. Then have a second AL that fires on dbl click that
opens the attachment from the main form. This will give them the ability
to open the attachments stored in your attachment form. Let me know if
you get stuck on anything I have said...I've implemented this a number of
times with great success.

Hi everyone,

We have a need to store many .jpg files that we will periodically access.
We want to access them from our Site form but to store them on this form
would probably not be efficient. There will be approximately 10 .jpg
files per Site so I thought a child form would be a better storage area.

Initially my thought was to simply use a table field on the Site form
displaying the necessary fields from the child form. On the child form
there would be an attachment pool. There would be only one attachment
per child record because other identifying information goes with each .jpg
file. So in the table field we'd see the attachment file, description
name, and view name for each child record associated with that Site. Ten
child records, ten rows on the table field, ten .jpgs.

Problem is, you cannot select the attachment field (filename) in the table
field. Yes, we can double click on the row and access the .jpg file
directly on the child record but of course that is not what they would
prefer. They want to see the .jpg filenames, double click on them and
whalaa they are open directly from the Site record. I thought it sounded
reasonable until I'm playing around with the concept right now.

I've looked through the documentation for some way to display this other
than a table field and if it's there I'm missing it. Any suggestions on
how I can accomplish this?

Roles and Dynamic Groups

2008-05-15 Thread Gary Opela (Corporate)
Okay, this is my last question today, I promise. This is kind of a
wrap-up of some of the questions I've posted lately.

How do you create the role for a dynamic group when using deployable
applications?

I tried by creating the role like normal. I kept the same name for the
role and the group, they are both Purchaser. To the roll, I gave the
negative group id, 60003 was the group id, so I gave the role -60003.

The problem I had was that whenever I went into an object to add
permissions, both the role and the group showed up. Basically, Purchaser
showed up twice. None of my other roles do this, only the roles for
dynamic groups.

So, I deleted the roles thinking maybe you don't need roles for dynamic
groups, even though what little I can get out of the documentation says
you do, even though it always talks about regular and computed groups
when creating roles. Now, any time I add a dynamic group permission to
an object, everyone in the world gets access to the object, not just the
person in the Purchaser field. So, basically, once I deleted the role
for Purchaser, and put just the group for Purchaser on the field, then
remedy started giving everyone access.

I can kind of see why it would do this, but my main question is why does
Purchaser show up twice in my group list on my permissions tab for an
object if I have a role created for it?

I'm sure this is an elementary question, but I've never needed to use
both a dynamic group and a deployable application.

Thanks,

Re: How to open an attachment in a child form record from a tablefield on the parent record?

2008-05-15 Thread Grooms, Frederick W
If you want the table field to have the name of the attachment do the
following:

On your attachment form have a Character field to hold the attachment
name (i.e. Short Description).
Do a Set Fields action to set the Character field = the Attachment
field. This will put the following formatted text into your character
field.
FileSize;CompressedSize;FileName ( i.e. 60921;4333;C:\Temp\My
Picture File Name.jpg )

You then have to do 2 STRSTR/SUBSTR passes ( 4 Set Field actions) on the
text to drop off the 2 file size values.
  zTempInteger  = STRSTR ($Short Description$, ";") + 1
  Short Description = SUBSTR ($Short Description$, $zTempInteger$)
  zTempInteger  = STRSTR ($Short Description$, ";") + 1
  Short Description = SUBSTR ($Short Description$, $zTempInteger$)

Bingo, you have your file name.

Re: How to open an attachment in a child form record from a tablefield on the parent record?

2008-05-15 Thread LJ Longwing
That's a bug? I always thought that was 'by design'...I considered the Tab
to be a 'container' for the fields...if you don't have access to get into
the container, you can't get to the things in it...even if you have
permission to them...:)

In addition to what LJ says, I think you might want a char field on the
child form to hold the filename of the jpg (put a filter on the child form
to update it on submit & modify). Then you can use the char field in the
table field on the parent form so they can see the filename.

Also, if you put the display only attachment pool on a hidden tab, make sure
the user has permissions to the tab as well as the pool (or put the pool
somewhere else). I think this is a registered bug, but I don't have the
number handy. This bug was for a 6.3 server, I haven't tested on 7.x.

Really quite simple once you think about ityou already have the
attachment form with its attachment pool and field, you already have the
table field on your main form showing you all of the records, that's 90% of
the way. Now you need an attachment pool on your main form, and a display
only attachment field. Disable table drill down on the table field, create
an AL that fires on dbl click of the table row that does a setfield from the
attachment form to your main form into the display only attachment field.
Then have a second AL that fires on dbl click that opens the attachment from
the main form. This will give them the ability to open the attachments
stored in your attachment form. Let me know if you get stuck on anything I
have said...I've implemented this a number of times with great success.

Hi everyone,

We have a need to store many .jpg files that we will periodically access.
We want to access them from our Site form but to store them on this form

Automated server logging control

2008-05-15 Thread Rick Cook
Does anyone know of a way to automate the turning on/off of server logs? I
looked at using the new Server Event calls, but the
AR_SERVER_INFO_SQL_LOG_FILE Run Process call can only be sent from an Active
Link, and it isn't intended (or probably even enabled) to deal with server
settings, even though the event can be logged as such.

It would be more doable on 7.x, I think, but I still can't quite noodle out
a way to make it happen there, either.

Re: Data Chunking

2008-05-15 Thread Kais Albassir

Hi Pascal,

I don't think you can set a different value for data chunking depending
on whether you access it through the Mid-Tier or through the User Tool.

My reaction to your question would be:
- there are many, many things to look at to improve performance through
the Mid-Tier, but maybe you've done all that already.
- do your users really need more than 100 records per chunk when using
the application through the User Tool???

Cheers.

Hi,

We have recently migrated to Remedy ARS version 7.0.1 and wanted to go
to the Web access interface via Mid-tier. So currently we are using
the User tool and the Web interface to access our forms... In order to
tune the WEB performance I wanted to set the data chunking to 100 in
the "View properties". But the problem is that this chunking also
occurs for the user tool... Please not that I'm using the same view
(the default admin view) and I haven't created any additional web
views and I also don't want to create a new one just for this data
chunking...

So I was wondering if we can set this data chunking size via workflow,
so that we can use data chunking when accessing via Web and not doing
any chunk when we are accessing forms via the user tool...

Thanks

Pascal

Strange Web Link

2008-05-15 Thread Kathy Morris
Hi,

We have two URLs:

On URL #1, we click the URL link, this takes us to the login.jsp page, we
log in, select the Incident Management console, then we click on the
"Requester
Console " and application opens.

On URL #2 (that is on a different web page), we click the URL link, it
takes us to the login.jsp, we log in, we select the Incident Management
Console,
we select the "Requester Console," and nothing happens.

There had been a couple of instances where we had to delete the cookies to
open the "Requester Console" on URL #1.

What would cause this to work on web link and not the other. We spoke with
the web team, and they said the permissions were fine.

Thanks, Gordon. Nice to know that there's a fix, it's been a sore spot for
many. Interesting that it was related to content and not capacity.
Hopefully, an internal bug was created to clear up the content issues as
well.

I think the new admin tool will be "differently-abled", to be euphemistic in
a positive way. I am really looking forward to seeing what it can do.

DST calc's not correct between dst server site and non-dst problem site

2008-05-15 Thread Marc Burick
Good afternoon.

ARServer 7.1
Client 6.3 and 7.1
Sybase 12.5.4
Solaris 5.9

Has anyone run into the problem of incorrect SLA calculation's where the
server site is in DST and the problem location isn't? Our server is located
in NJ, and we have customer's in Hong Kong. In the US, during non-DST
months, the SLA calculate correctly but, now, during DST months, the SLA
calculates one hour short. This is being used on a home grown application,
not a Remedy purchased application.

Thank you in advance.

Chris,
I would contact them because they were very responsive. I can get you a
specific POC off-list if you want.

Perhaps they are working the final stages of the new Admin Tool and it's
a hot item. I would think the Sync Search would be one of the toughest
pieces to get to work from a web based application.

Is there a document on notifications from BMC that you are looking at?
If so, I would also be interested in getting my hands on a copy of this.
I am currently building my own, and would love to not have to do it...

Sync Search Timeout Defect (UNCLASSIFIED)

2008-05-15 Thread FRANK, GORDON CTR DISA JSSC
Classification: UNCLASSIFIED
Caveats: NONE

All,

If you have ARS Version 7.1 Patch 002 of the Admin Tool, there is a
defect (SW00291500) with Sync Search. I worked with Remedy Technical
Support (RTS) to obtain a Hot Fix for this and it worked great.

RTS tell me that if you encounter the same type of problem, a Hot Fix
can be provided. You will need to submit a Remedy Technical Support
Issue through SupportWeb to initiate. The Hot Fix I received is a new
copy of xrefdll.dll. This normally resides in the Admin directory on the
Thick client. They didn't want me to publish the .dll on the list at
this time. I think the .dll I received will work for most people because
my install is very close to OOTB.

The Symptoms of this defect are:

1. You have full ITSM 7.0.3 Patch 007 and CMDB 2.1 Patch 002 installed
2. The Sync Search stops around a count of 42065. It completed Forms,
but it stops toward the end of the Active Links. It never gets to
Filters, Menus, etc.
3. The Active Links it did finish do show up as you would expect under
the "Related Workflow" Tab of each field.

4. The arxref.log has entries like the following:

AR-XRef Version: 7.0
Removing previous detail and x-ref entries.
ERROR: ActiveLink: Business Time Segment-cmdSave_NewWithAssoc & refers
to field 98 in schema Business Time Segment; field does not exist
ERROR: ActiveLink: Business Time Segment-cmdSave_SaveModify & refers to
field 98 in schema Business Time Segment; field does not exist .
.
.
Could not find referenced schema $232$ on server
123.123.123.17.ERROR: ActiveLink: ReportSelection:RunAskExportFilename7
& refers to field 290 in schema ReportSelection: field does not
exist .
.
.
ERROR: ActiveLink: ASI:SHR:GenericSave_003_Dialog_NoSandBox & refers to
field 25108 in schema ; field does not exit .
.
.
And many more of the same.
-

5. It also comes back with a specific error:

Aradmin.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x7c168f1d" referenced memory at "0x001c". The
memory could not be "read".
Click on OK to terminate the program

I just thought I'd share this because Sync Search is used everywhere. I
hope this helps someone out there. It was driving me nuts, because I was
always thinking there was something wrong with my computer.

Let's hope the new 7.5 Admin Tool has the same capability (without the
defect of course!).

How to open an attachment in a child form record from a tablefield on the parent record?

2008-05-15 Thread Susan Palmer
Hi everyone,

We have a need to store many .jpg files that we will periodically access.
We want to access them from our Site form but to store them on this form
would probably not be efficient. There will be approximately 10 .jpg files
per Site so I thought a child form would be a better storage area.

Initially my thought was to simply use a table field on the Site form
displaying the necessary fields from the child form. On the child form
there would be an attachment pool. There would be only one attachment per
child record because other identifying information goes with each .jpg
file. So in the table field we'd see the attachment file, description name,
and view name for each child record associated with that Site. Ten child
records, ten rows on the table field, ten .jpgs.

Any suggestions on how
I can accomplish this?

ARS v7.0.1P3 (server, admin, user)
Oracle 10g
Windows 2003

I appreciate your help and ideas. Let me know what other information I
could provide.

Thanks,
Susan

The only guess I have is that perhaps the tomcat 4.1 instance is trying to
handle some of the mid-tier code. Since the mid-tier needs a minimum tomcat

I never got it to work just stoping the service, always needed to restart
the server.

But if it does work on the newer releases great, I will try it again.

Data Chunking

2008-05-15 Thread Tournier, Pascal
Hi,

We have recently migrated to Remedy ARS version 7.0.1 and wanted to go
to the Web access interface via Mid-tier. So currently we are using the
User tool and the Web interface to access our forms... In order to tune
the WEB performance I wanted to set the data chunking to 100 in the
"View properties". But the problem is that this chunking also occurs for
the user tool... Please not that I'm using the same view (the default
admin view) and I haven't created any additional web views and I also
don't want to create a new one just for this data chunking...

So I was wondering if we can set this data chunking size via workflow,
so that we can use data chunking when accessing via Web and not doing
any chunk when we are accessing forms via the user tool...

Thanks

Regards

Pascal

In my experience, the default install of Tomcat performed during the
Mid-Tier installation has the default Tomcat port 8080 commented out. The
Mid-Tier itself relies on Jakarta redirection. If you want to enable the
default Tomcat port and pages you need to edit the server.xml file
(C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Tomcat-5.5.17\conf\server.xml)

Find the following section:

And remove the comment-out by deleting the second and last lines above.

Ran into exactly the same problem. Fixing the port didn't' help either, as
not even tomcat's default config pages would load.

I was using 7.1 and let it install tomcat.

Finally, I unistalled everything, then installed tomcat manually, then
installed the mid-tier.

I had to change my port settings and some other manual stuff, and it took
forever, but that was the only way I could get 7.1 to work with tomcat. I
also disabled IIS.

What port are you using?  Check the server.xml file to see the defined
default Tomcat port.

Then go to http://yourservername:/ where is the defined port.

We have a 7.1 system installed along with Tomcat 5.5.17. The installation
went apparently ok. However, when I checked out Tomcat by going into
the start menu and clicking on the "Welcome" screen, it gave an error
about not finding the page to display. The tomcat service is running. The
log shows that it apparently tried to load  arsys_api.xml - but when I
search
for that in the "Programs" directory it's not there. Looks like the midtier
stuff doesn't work as well. I'm trying to access the Tomcat welcome screen
on the same machine as all of the software, etc. I'd appreciate any guidance
as to what I should be checking. Thank you!

I'm sorry, but didn't you already ask this on Wed using the name/email of:

And I saw a reply from Fred Grooms stating that in 6.3, it's a system

P.S.

Tip 1: You might want to pick one email account (preferably the one with the
real name in it) and use that one instead of multiple email accounts.

Tip 2: Follow up to your original post instead of posting the same question

Re: Help with Vertical Navigation Bar and strange permissions happenings

2008-05-15 Thread Gary Opela (Corporate)
I've verified the user is only in a small set of groups, and none of
which overlap any of the groups which have permission to the button.

I've now also noticed that this is affecting other vertical navigation
bars throughout my application. It is not restricting access based on
permission at all unless I totally remove all permissions.

My test user is a member of three groups. I have only one group that has
permission to the VNB object, and it is not one of the three groups to
which my test user has permission.

I'm not running any patch, are you patched?

Hi Gary,

I have tried the scenario expected by you.on AR 7.1 and it works fine.
The problem may be in the creation of "test biz user" to different
groups.
Check whether the user belongs to the expected groups or not.

Hope this helps

We are using Windows environment with ARS 7.1 and CMBD 2.1. Actually
when we are trying to create a ticket in change module after successful
completion of installation, it is giving some error on some missing
fields and forms. e.g. 'CHG:Association-CI Join' form is missing
although it's field's reference are there in filters and other workflow
objects.

Tarun

Re: Question: Overview Console

2008-05-15 Thread Gayford, Matthew C.
Since you're calling ARDBC, you can just restart the plug-in server
process instead of the entire Remedy Service.

You will need to restart the Plug-in server.

Re: Widescreen Remedy User Tool Display 1440 x 900 Resolution

2008-05-15 Thread ITSM Support

Hi Bulls-n-Bears,

The problem can be resolved by setting AR User Tool-->Home Page-->
Administrative Preferences-->My Admin-->Window Location
The values for following fields should be---
Server Window = -137 99 1020 324 250 1
Frame Window = 143 52 768 537 1

Note--Check your Window Resolution Settings also.

Hope this helps

any setting/config I need to perform so I'd be able to utilize my

Mine is a wide screen monitor and the aspect ratio remains like this .
Anyone who could help ?

Cheers

Re: Field Meta Properties?

2008-05-15 Thread Misi Mladoniczky
Hi,

No DB/Server-traffic is needed. All fields are retrieved when the ticket
is shown. All that needs to be done, is to keep a data-copy of changed
fields in the client memory.

It would not be a true DB-value, but I do not think that it matters. What
you typically want to do is to check for changes that the specific user
has done. The user will in any case get a warning on save if the record
has been updated since retrieval.

What would be nice, both in ACTL and FLTR, would be to be able to use the
DB/TR syntax in Set-Fields Actions. Both in a search qualification and in
values for CURRENT TRANSACTION operation.

Re: Help with Vertical Navigation Bar and strange permissions happenings

2008-05-15 Thread ITSM Support

Hi Gary,

I have tried the scenario expected by you.on AR 7.1 and it works fine.
The problem may be in the creation of "test biz user" to different groups.
Check whether the user belongs to the expected groups or not.

Hope this helps

I have a user called test.biz. He has three permission groups, groupa,
groupb, groupc. I have a vertical navigation bar that has several
top-level menus on it. One of the menus is called Add/Modify Quote. It
has groupa permissions on it. The permission groupa is just a generic
permission group that everyone has, like public, but it’s explicit.

The menu option of Add/Modify Quote has several menu items under it.
They are Add Quote, Delete Quote, Approve Quote, Modify Quote. All
have groupa permission, except approve quote. If I do not give it any
permission, then test.biz cannot see it. However, if I give it any
permission group, even a group that test.biz does not have, then
test.biz can see that menu item. He cannot see any of the other stuff
that has the same permissions, such as tabs.

For some strange reason, if I give that menu item any permission at
all, it’s basically the same as giving it public. Does anyone know of
anything different that I have to do? Has anyone else run into this?

Thanks,
