Re: In ITSM, should users be able to select a person if the people Profile Status = Delete/obsolete

2013-04-04 Thread Peter Romain
Your observation is correct; if you look at the workflow you'll see that
profile status field isn't included when selecting a person.

However, the client type of 'Vendor' is used to exclude people selection so a
workaround could be to set this field as well as the status field when soft
deleting a person.

Cheers

Status = Delete/obsolete

Hi Guys,

Hopefully a simple one here.

If we set a people record 'Profile Status' to Obsolete or Delete users can
still select this person in the Incident/Change modules.

I have seen it written in previous posts that this field is only a marker and
does not affect the record, but I have not seen anything in the official
documents and other people I spoke to say that it is a defect.

So before I go to support does anyone know is this indeed a defect or is it
working as designed (badly?)

I would hope that marking a profile as obsoltete or for deletion should
restrict the use of this record like it does for other records.

What does anyone else do with the old records when people leave - archive? I am
trying to think of the implications of deleting the record and the only thing I
can think of is that you would lose a bit of an audit trail on the people
record itself - the incident / change records would not be affected even if an
open Incident was linked to a person that was deleted.

Thanks

The first Swedish mobile phone call was made in 1950, and the first commercial

There were only three very powerful base stations (cells?) in Sweden. The

If it is blank, it is going to pick the licenses from User form, and you

If there is no specific reason to use chaining mode, it can be set to off,
as by default it is set to first go to ARS and then to AREA. If you are
using any sso plugin, then in those cases chaining is usually helpful and
 enabled.

By default, the way it works with chaining disabled is, first it go to user
form, it will check if that user exists in user form, and if that user have
blank password in user form (with CRBP=true) and then it will authenticate
via the password of AD .

 Hope this helps.

Actually when you set up an event like this you're never going to please
everyone so the earlier posts are correct about finding a venue that is easily
accessible for most of the audience based on prior years, etc... The only
thing I'd venture to say is California and Washington are not the only areas
with nice hotels and great airports. Someone mentioned maybe Chicago in 2014 -
that's fairly mid-country. Heck, their even going to try and hold the Super

Chris,

I’m not sure I completely understand your concern. For me flights from the
East Coast to San Jose or San Francisco are a small fraction of the cost to
attend the conference. In turn there are many folks coming in from out of
country and flying into a major airport on the East or West coast reduces costs
for them and is more convenient.

I believe Houston was looked at as a possibility. Yet there were limitations
that caused it to be dropped from consideration.

I usually use the Product Catalog form to normalize to set the Catergory,

How would I set the BMC_Component relationship type attributes to be

(without setting the defaults in the BMC_Component form) or do I have to set

There is a form BMC.Core Config Normalization Rules - that has entries. I

You need to do more than thatI just went through this fortunately -

You need to make sure the field is on the source form (I believe that one is on

Then you also need to add it to copy that field to NTE:SYS-NT Process Control

Then you need to alter the workflow that replaces the text - I think it is this
but there may be more.

I also had to do this recently. Here are my notes for adding a custom field to

Adding a custom field to Notification
1. Add the custom field to the main form. In this case it was TMS:Task
2. Add an entry for this new field in the SYS:Form Field Selection form
3. Add this new entry via the pull down to the corresponding entry on the
SYS:Notification form
4. Add this custom field to the NTE:SYS-NT Process Control form under the
corresponding section. In this case Task.
5. Modify the filter that Sets or Pushes the fields to the NTE:SYS-NT
Process Control. For Task it was the TMS:TAS
NotificationGenerator_899_ModifyNotificationProcessControl’!
6. Modify the NTE:NPC TranslateNotificationMessagexxx. In this case it was
TAS_632

Re: passing a parameter to an SRD url built via the Context URL Builder?

2013-04-04 Thread Matthew Perrault
Tim,
The way we are doing this is to create an Advanced interface form.
Have that Form on submit push to the SRM:RequestInterfaceCreate form.
Once you have your own form, then you can use a standard URL to pass parameters
like:
http://MID_TIER/arsys/forms/SERVER NAME/FORM
NAME?F100079=SGP1777mode=Submit
where F100079 is the field ID you want the value passed to,
and SGP1777 is the value you want passed.

Then you don't have to worry about the visualization window in the request
console.

Reposting, hoping for some direction. I have a BMC request opening but nothing
substantial.
- (Outside of allowing the logined in user to submit survey under there id,
doing this will be negate the survey, as some users try to get around the
system).
- we were hoping upgrade which includes SW00293926 would resolve the issue but
doesnot; and it may not be the solution.

MT:7.5P5 on Websphere 6.1 all 32 bits. Upgraded to 7.6.04 SP4 (same issue)
ARS: 7.5P5 on AIX 6.1.7 on 11g
(We are in process of upgrading to 7.6.04 SP4 on test)

Win7/Xp - On IE8, all windows opened share the same session. Unless start new
session/ cmd: iexplore.exe -nomerge.

We have a survey, that is emailed to Customers. This email uses a its generic
id to login and bring up the survey form; overall multiple log in.

No. of Remedy Users: 1300.
No. of Customers: 15,000.
So this issues only affects 1300 people, 9%. Even thought not a lot - politics.

Issue Scenarios:

1. Open IE (1st session), login into midtier. If users clicks on survey, its
trys to launch in the 1st Session IE and fail.
ARERR [9361] - A current session exists for a different user

2. Open IE (1st session), login into midtier. Open IE (2nd session), (file new
session or Cmd); assumed active session. Then users clicks on survey url/link,
its trys to launch in the 1st Session IE and fail. (ARERR [9361] - A current
session exists for a different user) Therefore, click (mouse) launches
all URL in 1st session.
- Question: is there away to make the click action, open in last IE session?

3. Open IE (1st session), login into midtier. Open IE (2nd session), (file new
session or Cmd); assumed active session. Then users copy/paste survey url/link
into 2nd Session, works.

4. Open IE (1st session), don't login into midtier. Open IE (2nd session),
login into midtier. Then users clicks on survey url/link, it launch in the 1st
Session IE and works.

- Question: In the below, can the header be modified specifically to start in
new session, there by passing the click action above?

the link/url is

of each object in the list grabbed when the list is exported to a def file?

Re: Packing Lists

2013-04-04 Thread Joe D'Souza
I tend to avoid using those too and prefer Working Lists and then export
every object in that list manually.

The only problem working with Working Lists is that when you create new
objects, they do not get auto refreshed in that list until you reopen that
list.

Renamed objects do not appear to be renamed either and sometimes at random
it does refresh the list to reflect the new name. I have not seen a trend as
to when that happens and when it doesn't

I wish at some point they fixed that although it does appear like its been
done that way by design - to perhaps not perform a search on every new save.

Hi,

If you export a packing list, I have seen that objects are sometimes missed.
I
have no clear pattern as to when this happens, but it happened a lot at a
7.6.04 site I was working on some time ago.

Check that the objects in question are actually in the def file.

You might want to try rrrexportdef.exe -packlist ..., it will not miss any
objects.

Re: AR Patch Upgrade 7.6.04 Patch 4

2013-04-04 Thread Joe D'Souza
It will help to know what version to what version you'll are trying to move
from and your current architecture and environment.. Without which it is
only possible to give you very generalized information.

One advise that will work irrespective of what your architecture and
environment is, is that you got to give it a whole lot of more memory and
processing power than your previous version.

I have other than that not run into anything 'major' that's worth talking
about (considering that everyone these days knows you got to prepare your
apps if they have been customized, to compare the differences to create an
overlay layer).

Straight forward case of running the installer. SP2 to SP4 has only bug

It will help to know what version to what version you'll are trying to move

only possible to give you very generalized information.

One advise that will work irrespective of what your architecture and
environment is, is that you got to give it a whole lot of more memory and
processing power than your previous version.

I have other than that not run into anything 'major' that's worth talking

Haven't tried it on a server group yet, but I don't see why you would need
to do any of that either. It doesn't alter the database structure so the
other servers in the server group should still be able to connect when one
has been patched.

But I don't see why you would leave some servers unpatched. I would do them
all one after the other..

The only thing I would do (although I do not see the need to) is stop the
service on the other servers too and declare a maintenance outage..

The only problem working with Working Lists is that when you create new

Renamed objects do not appear to be renamed either and sometimes at random
it does refresh the list to reflect the new name. I have not seen a trend

I wish at some point they fixed that although it does appear like its been

 Hi,

If you export a packing list, I have seen that objects are sometimes
 missed.
 I
have no clear pattern as to when this happens, but it happened a lot at a
7.6.04 site I was working on some time ago.

Check that the objects in question are actually in the def file.

You might want to try rrrexportdef.exe -packlist ..., it will not miss any
 objects.

There are various ways to configure AREA LDAP.

1. Authenticate unregistered Users - If this option is set then user does not
need to be exist in user form. AR tries to authenticate user using external
authentication.
2. Cross Reference Blank Password - User need to be exist in User form with no
password. In this case AR tries to cross-reference the user using external
authentication.
3. Authentication Chaining Mode - There are various behaviors/ways using this
option. I would suggest to go through 7.1 Integration guide.

There are various ways to configure AREA LDAP.

 1. Authenticate unregistered Users - If this option is set then user does
not need to be exist in user form. AR tries to authenticate user using
 external authentication.
 2. Cross Reference Blank Password - User need to be exist in User form
with no password. In this case AR tries to cross-reference the user using
 external authentication.
 3. Authentication Chaining Mode - There are various behaviors/ways using
this option. I would suggest to go through 7.1 Integration guide.

Subject: Ad Integration with remedy 7.1

 Hi All.

In my project we are planning to use AD integration with remedy.

I have configured Area form and I really don't know how to start from
 there.

It is possible to authenticate user without using vendor form. ?

 Can anyone help me.

 I m using remedy 7.1 version.

I'm sorry to hear of this news. Your input to this community has been
appreciated by hundreds of ARSlisters, and the frequency of your input
would appear to have exceeded that of any other BMC employee. I honestly
don't know how you managed to remember so much AR System documentation
that for any subject, you always had a reference/link to hand!

I assume you can now join the 'dark side' and become a contractor, of
which I suspect there will be plenty of work ahead of you.
