Hello Mahendra, Are you talking about the Atrium SSO? I was trying to install and work with Atrium SSO on our 8.1 environment and having so many issues and support is not that great. Is there any other product besides Atrium SSO? Also this is for our 7.5 environment and what I read was that for anything below 8.0, Atrium SSO has to be installed first. Since we are upgrading, I was trying to find something that does not take too much engineering. If you have any inputs it will be much appreciated. I see this behavior with the buttons grayed out when selecting the field when I have clicked on Show fields not in view. I think you need to add the field to a view temporarily or select a view one that it is already on. If you look at the Default User View of the Help Desk form instead of Best Practices View the field should be in the view already. Then select the field from either just tree overview or table overview mode of the outline. When I do that, the buttons are not grayed out. Lightboxes and SRM
Good morning, A while back I embedded some SRM stuff in SharePoint, and while it works, it's not the most beautiful thing I've done and I'm revisiting it. One thing that I think might be good is to use a pop over effect, otherwise known as a lightbox. I'm not really a JavaScript/CSS guy even though I can tweak it some when needed. However, I'm sort of stuck in trying to figure out the best way to do this. Basically, what I'm thinking is that from within SharePoint, we can have a button or hyperlink that rather than loading a URL with a Content Editor Web Part that has Remedy embedded in an iFrame, we can have a lightbox pop up with the iFrame embedded in a div that pops up (without an actual pop up) and makes the screen darker behind it, so it looks like it's part of SharePoint rather than a new place. The closest thing within Remedy that you would be familiar with are the boxes that pop up on hover to display more information, such as when you hover over the Customer*+ field on Incident 7.6+. Has anyone done something like this? If so, any advice and code would be appreciated. I know that the Mid Tier leverages jQuery, which can do some of this, but I'm still struggling to pull it all together. Also, I too question the requirement of trying to make it look like SharePoint has SRM inside of it instead of treating it like other applications, but due to internal office politics we have to make the SharePoint application look like it's more than a glorified blog site and HTML version of a network file share. Remedy Refresher needed
Hello everyone I have not posted on the ARS list in years, but I find that I am now in need of the brain power of this list. I have been a developer for about 12-15 years, going all the way back to Remedy 2.0 and Baystone up to remedy ARS 7.6. Unfortunately I now find myself in a situation in which I am derailed. My company has switched off of remedy (and they regret it) and is now using an application called CA Service Desk which is at least 10yers behind Remedy in its evolution. I have been painfully working with CA Service Desk since October of 2012, and have done almost nothing with Remedy. The remedy job market seem pretty good lately and I have been trying to jump back in. I have had several interviews for some great jobs but I have bombed them all because my Remedy detailed knowledge is way too cloudy (use it or lose it). When asked to provide any kind of detailed knowledge I stumble because of my 9mth hiatus. So what I am looking for is this. Is there some kind of free self test, self assessment, or study guide that I can get my hands on to help bring my skills back to the forefront. A simple list of 100 questions would help (anything would help). Thanks in advance and I look forward to your replies. Oh and some final parting advice. Used By Relationships updating multiple CIs at once
I have about a dozen new CIs in the Hardware Package class (two HW packages, each with multiple versions), and I want to associate Companies to them as individual associations. The only real differences between the CIs are the Name, Model/Version, and Short Description. They have the same Product Categories. So I go to the People tab on the CI, answer the dialogs to associate the CI as a Used By by the Company/Organization, and it all works. Except that it also associates all of the other CIs in that class (and perhaps others, I haven't checked yet) with the same relationship to the same company. Deleting the relationship from one also deletes it from all of the records. What I want is to be able to relate these one at a time. I don't see a way to do that, though I thought that was the way it functioned. I did verify that the Filter in play is NOT doing a table walk, so it isn't related to that. The logs show the Filter is firing one time, updating one record. What am I doing that is causing what I'm seeing, and how can I make the relationship for only one record at a time? Re: Remedy Refresher needed
Scott, I'm not familiar with any sort of 'primer' or sorts for Remedy. The best I can suggest for you is to get in contact with BMC, ask for a temporary license...any sales rep should be able to give you that...from there, it'll give you a Support ID...generate yourself a support.bmc.com account (if you don't already have one, if you do, associate the id with your existing account) and go to the docs.bmc.com web site and download all of the documents in PDF format for both Remedy as well as all of the application suites. For your activities, most of the material should be 'review', but you should be able to cover the What's New material and get the latest/greatest of 8.1...there have been allot of changes in Remedy since 7.5/7.6.03. in relation to base/custom/overlay stuff, and it's really a big change..so that'll be something you want to pay attention to...but honestly, that would be my best recommendation. Re: ARSList Award Voting Time
So, Daniel and I have been talking offline regarding 'what is a good turnout'. Daniel says that 740 people have posted to the list since roughly 10/1/12...at this moment we are at 51 voters...that is roughly 6.9% of the readership that cares enough to look at the list and vote. Looking at the US Presidential election, we average somewhere in the 50% turnout range, Daniel says that during its hay day, the voting got roughly 1/3 of the population voting...in this case that would be about 250 votes...we aren't even at 10% and I'm not sure if we will be able to reach it...so I pose this question to the list...and I would like to spark a lively discussion and debate on the list regarding this topic. If you haven't voted yet, why not? I have heard discussions in the past along the lines of 'I don't pay enough attention to be able to make an informed decision'...I counter that with 'you don't think that stops the US public when voting for their president, do you?'...no...that's not the right message...I'll counter with 'then pay more attention, do the research in your own mailbox, and help promote someone's career' Honestly, I have never gotten a job offer based on my nomination to MVP, nor my win last year, but I will tell you that my participation in this list has made me a better developer, and I think I speak for YOU, yes you...reading this, that you are a better developer, more aware of what trends are happening, and better equipped to do your job because of this list. Subscription to the list is free, but I'm positive that running the list isn't free...someone is paying for the servers and bandwidth necessary to maintain it (no clue who foots those costs, but my guess would be Daniel) I would say get off your butt and vote...but most of us type while sitting...so in this case I want you to stay sitting (if that's how you write emails), and send an email to arslistawa...@wwrug.org...vote for your top 3, and whomever you feel deserves the BMC Beyond the Call most. So...out of the 740 people that posted in the last 'year' on the list...how many can we get to care enough about this award? if you can answer say 2/3 or 3/4 of those, you should be relatively good at Remedy core administration, but a completely different list of questions would be involved in determining ITSM capabilities of a developer., and those questions don't do anything to determine what sort of process a person would follow to customize an ITSM form. S UBSCRIBE arslist Anonymous has a good point about YouTube. BMC has been putting a lot of videos on YouTube the last year or so. Also create an account on communities.bmc.com. There is a lot of activity, much about the newer ARS/ITSM versions (and ADDM, BPPM, MyIT, etc.) If you want to fully dive back in and gain first-hand knowledge via the firehose effect you should consider attending WWRUG13 http://wwrug13.com/. Understandably it might be hard to justify since you are in the process of looking for a job (it sounds like you are still employed though). Hopefully you don't have to wait 65 days for a new job but it might be a good investment? Not only will you get g33ky details about everything Remedy but you might meet your next employer there (or somebody who knows your next employer is looking for somebody). Re: ARSList Award Voting Time
I think the majority of those 740 only pay attention to the list when they have an issue they need help with and probably won't even read this thread. How many of those 740 posted more than 10 times since October (more than once a month)? I bet that 80% of the post come from less than 20% of the people. What is a good turnout depends on how many people are actual active in the list. So I'd say if you get 10% or more (and I hope you do) or more than 74 votes per round then you are getting a good turnout. Ken. If anyone ever tries to point you in the direction of CA Service Desk Run..Run as fast as you can in the other direction. _ARSlist: Where the Answers Are and have been for 20 years_ ___ UNSUBSCRIBE or access ARSlist Archives at www.arslist.org Where the Answers Are, and have been for 20 years inline: image003.jpginline: image004.jpg
Re: Remedy Refresher needed
LJ this list is great. Everyone keep them coming. Its not that I don't know the answers. It that they are cloudy when asked to deliver the answer on the fly. I'm very proficient in ARS and ITSM, but it not at the forefront of my mind. Like on one interview last week for a $100hr 1-year to hire job, I was asked How do you delete entries via workflow?. I could not for the life of me remember that the thing was called RUNPROCESS. Although I have ran the gambit on the RUNPROCESS commands in my sleep. Re: ARSList Award Voting Time
The point being: There are 4200+ current registrations for the list, far more read it. Those that post are asking or answering questions, they are the active interested ones. That is the 740. Since 740 is less than 20% of 4200, 100% of posts come from 20% of the ARSlisters. Once again, to me if there are 74 votes, that is 1.8% of those on the list, which says they aren't interested. Voting for MVP is about the only way to say thank you to that small percentage that provide most of the invaluable content on the list. Re: ARSList Award Voting Time
To make things easier, I wonder if we can spoon feed our readers a little - Make this voting thing electronic.. Hint to John Sunderberg about leveraging Kinetic Survey for a quick and easy poll and use that data for this voting process in addition to the data already collected after all the necessary reconciliations.. That would be a really good ad for Kinetic Survey too :-) Joe _ From: Action Request System discussion list(ARSList) [mailto:arslist@ARSLIST.ORG] On Behalf Of LJ LongWing Sent: Friday, July 26, 2013 2:32 PM To: arslist@ARSLIST.ORG Subject: Re: ARSList Award Voting Time ** So, Daniel and I have been talking offline regarding 'what is a good turnout'.
