Rick, The purchase of EMS by TuringSMI fell through. I wonder how many of the other purchase offers made by TuringSMI did not proceed. Wow, I was not expecting this to get heated when I first sent the question to the list. Thanks to everyone who has replied both on and off list, your help has been appreciated. Unfortunately we were told point blank that we could not renew support as BMC would not accept it via Turing SMI. However, we have since been successful with another third party support company. Thanks again and lets hope we can turn the heat down and all get back to being friends. Re: What's going on with TuringSMI?
That's assuming that BMC keeps their web site up to date better than they used to, which was practically not at all. My former consulting company had incorrect and missing data about them on BMC's partner site for years, despite numerous requests to update it. I would trust nothing short of an official announcement from either BMC or Turing, which is up to them to decide whether to publish. Toby, that is your name right? I'd just like to agree with Matt, I've not long left TuringSMI, the Companies house website does show an old company prior to the Group creation in liquidation, this happened as part of the wider consolidation of EMEA, APAC and the expansion into the US territory some two years ago. If it helps any, I have dealt with Turing about slightly over a year ago, for an engagement in MD, and didn't have any payment problems with them. I got paid as scheduled in the contract.. And I second Rick.. Lets not let rumors fly and if any of these are true let a representative of Turing speak up for themselves.. We do not want to negatively impact any johs of contractors or consultants who may be currently engaged with them.. Re: What's going on with TuringSMI?
I think prudence would call for one or more of these in future responses: 1) A response from someone who can speak for Turing. 2) Responses that are more than rumors. Rumors can cause damage to relationships of all kinds, and it would be unfortunate if Turing's were damaged for false reasons. If you don't have evidence to back up your rumor, prudence would dictate keeping it to yourself. 3) Not assuming something bad about Turing unless and until evidence appears to support those assumptions. This past year utilizing TuringSMI support vs 12 years with Remedy/bird/BMC support has been wonderful. Responsive and problems get resolved. I get no compensation for that endorsement just being a happy person. Re: What's going on with TuringSMI?
The waiver process as you call it has been in place for awhile but was a well concealed fact. We went through it last year filing it only 2 days before the 90 day deadline. The only reason I found out about it was that someone on the list alerted me to the process. Even though 90 days were allowed for it, it ran right down to the last day before being granted. Re: What's going on with TuringSMI?
TuringSMI and BMC renegotiated how they deal with the $$$. BMC collects them and doals them out to Turing. I just renewed for October 1st and bought 2 licenses. My timing was bad since they were in the middle of figuring it out. It turned out to be collaboration between Turing and my BMC account rep. It was not a pretty thing. Re: What's going on with TuringSMI?
And the waiver/approval thing is not new. BMC has always had stringent rules on who can offer and use third-party support. The rules may morph over time, but like I said, this is an unfortunately normal set of events for this time of year. By the end of the week, it should be all sorted out. All I can say is that this seems to happen every year about this time. Don't panic, and talk to your sales rep. if you feel the need to get something done via support until it's fixed.
