Palin is a woman.

Somehow, she made it to the top. Somehow, she can't be a total idiot.

Ed Koch was on the radio a couple weeks ago and someone asked him of
her and I think he responded something like ...listen, anyone that
has risen to that level...has skill..administrati ve etc...there are
only 50 people in the US ELECTED to the level of Gov, she is
one...give credit where it need be...

I'm sure I didn't get the entire message. The point being, she is a
woman how has somehow risen to where she is - say it was her looks,
she's a bitch etc. No one has said she slept around.

If she was an african-american women as gov or vp choice one owuld
guess it would be different. A woman, under state and federal laws is
genrally considered a minority in terms of bidding on state and
federal contracts. That's why many gov contracts are issued
to minority owned businesses - 51% owned by a woman or african
american or other class.

So if she is caribou barbie or not she has/had something that got her
where she is - like OBama has something that got him where he is and
he won - whites, blacks, hispanic etc educated, uneducated etc.

I married one tough woman woman as well. Pop taught her how to hunt,
fish, ride a motorcycle etc. Most people who know her if stuck
somewhere and needed to survive would be happy to have her there.

For some reason, when we were adrift on a tiny sunfish off the coast
of mexico and land was getting tiny, she was jumping off and going to
swim in. I was just going to drift off. Good thing we were saved by a
passing boat

I'd rather be with a caribou barbie any day of the week vs some other
ding bat that only knows how to shop or bitch about her hair or
nails.

The actual intent behind Senator Obama's misstatement is easy to
discern without the need to invoke an obscure international
organization. He was trying to express the thought that in all the
time he had spent on the campaign trail so far in 2007-08, he had
visited all (48) of the states in the continental U.S. save for one
(i.e., one left to go, excluding Alaska and Hawaii), but in his

forty. (Note the long pause in the video clip between the words

John I think the point is that of course, everyone knows Obama knows
there are 50 states and not 60. Certainly he made a tired slip of
the tongue.

Follow anyone with a Camera for 2 years and you'll catch them in a
slip of the tongue.

The problem is sometimes the media targets someone as stupid, and
will take any slip of the tongue as proof of stupidity.

For some reason, they were looking for any slip by Palin as proof of
stupidity.

They did the same to Dan Quale. There are a great deal of stupid
quotes on the net attributed to him he never said.

Go check out the video of the Potato incident. The teacher handed
Quayle the spelling words on index cards. You see them right in his
hands. On the index card, potato was spelled with an e.

Honestly, if I'm sitting there with a misspelled index card handed to
me by the teacher, I'm going to go by what was on the card.

I think almost anyone would.

The media can ruin anyone once they decide to tell a story and stay
with it.

Probably the biggest chord she struck was her promise to advocate

Another lie:

Sarah Palin Slashed Special Needs Education by 62%
For those of you who seem so enamored with Gov. Sarah Palin, it might
be worth noting that she oversees the budget for the Department of
Education and Early Development Special Schools in Alaska. These
funds provide supplementary educational services to students with
severe disabling conditions and the Alaska Challenge Youth Academy.
The resident school where the child would normally be placed does not
have the resources to provide an adequate educational program.
Without the supplementary services the child’s needs would not be met
by the local school district in most cases.

The Annual budget for 2007, which preceded Gov. Palin was $8,265,300.

The Annual budget for 2008, enacted by Gov. Palin is $3,156,000.

The Annual budget for 2009, enacted by Gov. Palin is $3,156,000.

This is a cut in special needs services to children in Alaska of
5,109,300 , or 62%.

2008-11-07 Thread justifiedright
Nice job quoting Daily Kos.

The reduction was done by the man she defeated, Murkowski.

Here's the real story, staight from Alaska:

Gov. Sarah Palin and state lawmakers have gone ahead with an overhaul
of Alaska's school funding system that supporters predict will
provide much-needed financial help to rural schools and those serving
students with disabilities.

The plan, enacted in the recently concluded session of the
legislature, is based on recommendations issued by a legislative task
force last year. It will phase in a greater flow of money to
districts outside of Anchorage, Alaska's largest city, over the next
five years.

Advocates for rural and remote schools have lobbied for years for
more funding, in particular noting the higher fuel, transportation,
and other costs associated with providing education in communities
scattered across the vast state.

A second part of the measure raises spending for students with
special needs to $73,840 in fiscal 2011, from the current $26,900 per
student in fiscal 2008, according to the Alaska Department of
Education and Early Development (emphasis added).

...but I understand she has been invited to every talk show in
America right now (most are probably looking to make themselves feel
better after the way she's been treated).

No. It's like having William Hung on your show. She's a freak act
from the side show tent now. Plus, when it mattered:

For the first time ever, we have a vice presidential candidate who
has been shielded from the press to the extent that she has not held
a single, full-length press conference at which reporters are
permitted wide-ranging leeway to ask questions on policy issues,
campaign developments, personal and professional qualifications of
the candidate, etc. The closest we probably will come is this set of
fluff questions and answers from a brief question and answer period
aboard Palin's campaign plane. I guarantee that the reporters were
told that they risked being shut off completely once again if they
strayed from the approved list of topics or attempted to press her on
any of her responses.

For some reason, they were looking for any slip by Palin as proof of

They did the same to Dan Quale. There are a great deal of stupid

Go check out the video of the Potato incident. The teacher handed
Quayle the spelling words on index cards. You see them right in his

Honestly, if I'm sitting there with a misspelled index card handed to

Of course it does, but the dialog going on doesn't relate to how this plays out

We all let this group drift away from matters directly concerning AP, myself

why not let move the political talk to the AP Political group, and let AP

To be a Governer in Alaska is the highest level in the nation. The Governer of
Alaska is not just a governer. The are givin one of the Highist security
clearences in the USA. They have information givin to them every 3 hours on
National security. Alaska is the last state on the nuclear strike list for
America. They have to be able to respond incase of a nuclear strike. There is
no other Governer in the United States of America that is givin this clearence.
The governers of 3 major cities in the country are givin basic clearence which
means nothing and the rest of them are not givin anything in security
clearence. To get the clearence she has you have to be trained and your
background check has to be clean. Unlike some other shit voted in.
She is excellent at what she does. She would have done what had to be done with
securing our borders.    I cant say much for the new group thats in now. I dont
think they are interested in security. But I am hoping that I am wrong.

Really? A college degree evidently did not make her smart or
informed. Why does she have her husband, an unpaid, unelected
relative, doing her dirty work? Apparently, she is illegally
allowing her husband to sit in while her cabinet is present. It
must be some kind of intimidating and unprofessional to have your
spouse overseeing, that NO ONE gets out of line!

I had 5 kids and one husband, too! I also had day care for the baby
and after school care for one other child. Expensive? You bet, but I
had a position that payed well and I could afford it, just like HER!

I had a job that involved using my brain and intelligence to solve
technical problems. I did system testing of many telephone systems
that all of you enjoy now, but back then, systems such as caller ID,
was not available to the public, as what is now the World Wide Web,
(USENET). I've been online since 1982 and a UNIX user since 1977, so
with my superior intellect and problem solving skills, I did 20 years
with ATT Bell Labs, a professional think tank! On my 15th year, I
became and still is, a Telephone Pioneer and a gold watch with Mercury
on its' face.

Everything I have, I worked for and I'm not ashamed. My children
think I'm brilliant, as does many of my friends. I'm a bird watcher
and amateur astronomer. I have an extensive coin and stamp collection
and I collect white porcelain. I live a very quiet life, now that the
kids are all gone, but I still love to sit in a stadium and watch a
good football game or track meet. No, I never entertained running for
office, because my 5 kids and husband, came first!

5 kids, she took on the challenge of having her own career and her
family is going to learn from it.

We all make decisons in life about marriage, family, work and careers.

Shit, I sat in a huge office in AIG in NYC during an interview and
made a choice family vs working anywhere in the world, probably 24
hours/day with AIG. I knew the drill. One of the toughest ceo's in
the world... I walked away. I walked out of an office when the vp
told me to cancel my planned family vacation and tell my wife that
 he'll buy her a steak...and go another time...I walked out on NY's
 eve to get home...

We all make choices and sacrafices if given the opportunity.

So you have great kids and apparently she does as well. And yes, even
 if her kid got pregnant.

Parenting is one thing. Keeping your fingers crossed and hoping your
kid does the right thing and survive stupid things is another.

One of the most interesting things about “Joe the Plumber,”
currently enjoying his 15 minutes of fame, is that he has an unpaid
judgment against him from “St. Charles Mercy Hospital” for about $1200.

http://tinyurl.com/6gqpz8

I find it interesting that a pretty healthy guy (he works full time
as a plumber, even if he’s not licensed) and an ambitious one too (he
wants to buy a business that makes $250,000, though it’s not clear
if that’s gross or net) has such a bill. Does he have health
insurance? If so, for what does he owe this prodigious amount? If
not, what care might he have possibly purchased that cost ONLY $1200?

Palin is a woman.

Somehow, she made it to the top. Somehow, she can't be a total idiot.

Ed Koch was on the radio a couple weeks ago and someone asked him of
her and I think he responded something like ...listen, anyone that
has risen to that level...has skill..administrative etc...there are
only 50 people in the US ELECTED to the level of Gov, she is
one...give credit where it need be...

I'd rather be with a caribou barbie any day of the week vs some other
ding bat that only knows how to shop or bitch about her hair or
nails.

I don't think she is an idiot at all. I think she is cunning and a

But my problem with her and McCain is the negative tone of their
campaign. Each of us makes a personal choice. Theirs was to listen to

I come from common folks. I disagree with Palin's views (I find them
dangerous) and her tactics (liars, smears and politics of the past).
JTP - because he is a fraud and a callow opportunist -also why I
called him an asshole. He is not a licensed plumber, he was not in any
position to buy any business let alone his boss' and then he tried
(stupidly) to capitalize on his 15 minutes.

The real Joe the Plumbers rock. When you were in law school I was
cleaning subways signs for a few bucks an hour. I loaded trucks at
night to work through college, which I had to drop out of. I went back
and didn't get my degree until I already had two kids. There were
years of night and weekend classes. Like Obama, I may be liberal, but
I am no elitist.

Not sure you are hip to the plumber's license issue. Most plumbers
have no licence. Generally, you don't need one. Some states have laws

sign the permit.

Sounds like we have similar stories. I not only paid for law school
and college, I even paid myself for the 2 years I went to private high
school. 100% paid by me with money I earned.

We didn't live in AP when other white folks moved out because we were

had to pay rent and buy your own clothes starting at 14.

Like you I did college at night and weekend classes only because I
worked full time.

I, am Joe the Plumber.
