Starting out with BGT

Hi guys,So Im considering learning BGT, and I had one question in particular. Would BGT serve as a stepping stone to Mac/IOS developing? Ive got some ideas in my head, and as far as Im aware, we really dont have much in the way of multi-platform audio games.I guess a minor question would be, would it be worth it to learn BGT vs all-purpose programming languages? Hi Hanif,Please, but please, for the sake of your phone, don’t let your battery drain to very low percentage. For example at 2% or 5%. The reason why? It’s quite simple; the battery of your phone maybe destroyed soon and you may need to send it to a special service. My close friend bought an iPhone 4s as well, and he used to spend lots of hours using that phone. Unfortunately, iPhone 4s is not a phone that is famous for its long battery life, so he charged it twice a day or more. While he was playing a game on his computer he heard an alert on his phone: Something like this “please plug in your phone to charge the battery, your battery is at 10%. He ignored and ignored untill it drained to 2%, and then his phone shutted down. After that, he was unable to turn the phone on again, and he has sent it to a service because the phone won’t charge.I’d suggest draining your battery to 15 or sometimes 10%, and then plug it in. That’s highly recommended. At least it’s what some services say.

@Sean and @Chris: Ill have some answers when I try doing a clean install of Win8.1 on my MBP Retina. In short, though, youd better have a pair of headphones handy in case the output levels are not up to it, though the standard chipsets all seem to be supported. I dont know about USB audio, though that would also be a very good option if it is available in this set.

Hi. This game has some elements that seem straight out of SC and or Miriani. SC is a good game but Miriani is not, their hosts pander to the lowest common denominator and basically allow teeny boppers to wreck it. Anyway this game seems pretty cool, just started a new char the other day. Would you guys, that being the admins / hosts be open to a podcast of this game once I am more proficient. It would go up on coolblindtech.com. Just a thought as I am looking for more podcasts in the future.

Aliases is sorta like a command or thing you type in to execute other things. Example: instead of typing c soulsteal to soulsteal, you could make an alias, say, ss. So everytime you want to soulsteal you just eed to type ss and there you go. Even better imo are the function key aliases which basically means pressing a function key to activate an alias. For example, for me, to soulsteal I just need to press f2 since I set the aliase that way.No, its not ultimitly required, but its highly encouraged. Think of those times when you need assistance in running xp or defeating a hard-to-defeat monster like Lux or Hefustus etc. I dont like the sped up and blurry way when grouping, but I love the xp and fame!

Currently, i dont know how to buy weapons or items in the npcs of the city.Hanif, with the xbox controller, try to jump forward, then press the right stick forward too and still in the air, jump forward. If you use the keyboard, try to jump forward, then press the left shift and still in the air, jump forward.

Hi. First, you need the full version of Vipmud, sinse materiamagica uses Msp (mud sound protocol), which is one of the very few things which is restricted in the free Vipmud. Then, bang all the sounds in the sound folder in your vipmud directory, then make sure the option in Mm to use sound is set on (I believe its setsound on but Im not %100 certain as its been quite some time sinse I played the game). Hth.Btw, Id be interested to know how you find mm. I originally got a little narked with the marks system making it so hard to find marks, and the timed quests, but I know both of those things got fixed and several more elements like crystal quests got added as well as some access fixes.

i have to say this mod is pretty awesome. ive only had it now for about two days. so im not that familiar will all of its workings, but it is rather extensive and i know it will make for some interesting gameplay. i wasnt all that good at the original mod, but i think that was due to the fact i didnt really know it that well. so now that there is even more to learn and master, i better get back to practicing. is their any possibility of a campaign mode made directly for the crazy mod? the built in campaign is impossible to complete with the crazy mod. i see there is something about orcs. but i beat that chapter 1 and it doesnt give me anymore.

Never mind about that actually. I was having trouble with lava lake, but then I discovered you could use both control keys so I could kill all the enemies before I even had to wory about the fireballs because my focus was on either one or the other so the one I wasnt paying attension to would kill me. Im on the lab level, act 2 now. so, never mind. Although those friggan pits with no noise just the metal footsteps are annoying.

Trying to mod. Anyone know how to open Vipgamezones >VGZ sound files?

Hey AllSo I was thinking of modding the Galaxy Ranger sound effects and voices, to make the game viable again, even if its just for my self, because, unlike allot of older games, all this one really needs is some TLC, since it has a good platform with decent commands, ideas, and mechanics that still runs well on systems up to Windows 7.Unfortunately of course, Vipgamezone uses their own custom filetype for all game sounds, so without being able to import and export to it, my hands are pretty much tied in this area.I was really hoping that in all this time, at least one person has figured out the correct settings for importing these files in their raw form, then exporting them back to that same raw form but with a .VGZ extension.Hopefully someone has at least some kind of answer for me, otherwise, I dont think Im going to be able to stand the overly loud distorted audio and atrocious Sapi4 voices for long.

Almost nothing will serve as a stepping stone to iOS development because the iOS development tools manage to technically be accessible while highlighting every single issue with Voiceover. If you want to do iOS development, you probably can by purchasing Ruby Motion, but thats going to cost several hundred dollars and if you dont know programming youre very, very far away from being concerned about iOS. Theres possibly another way around the problems, but it involves a windows VM, SSH, and a bunch of esoteric knowledge of which I only have a small piece at the moment. Mac development can be done via the command line, but Im not sure quite why you would and its almost certainly going to involve Objective-c. If you want to target the Mac, you can. But its only got 20-30% of blind people, many of whom have windows installed to get around VO shortcomings. To that end, you probably want to consider stepping s
 tones to cross platform development instead. Im not sure what to point you at in that area: I personally know Python, but theres also C#, _javascript_, and a bunch of other options thatd do it depending on what youre trying for.BGT will teach you programming in general. Many of the concepts transfer. If your goal is not games, you almost certainly want something else. In the long run you will probably leave it. But it will work as a first language if you want games. It supports classes, something I consider very important if youre planning to move to something more mainstream; everyone uses classes these days. If you have a specific project in mind and its not a game, some of us might be able to point you at something more appropriate.

As my friend pointed out, Apple resells them because people still buy them.If they didnt, CNET and PCMag and such wouldnt even review them, but because they are popular, they feel obligated to do so, and give ratings that are higher than what they deserve. This is all very bizarre and I probably have no idea what most of you are talking about. I really dont associate sounds with texture and such at all. But I do get the random tones in my head sometimes, but Ive had that for as long as I can remember. I really dont know how often it happens, I sometimes go weeks without them but there really isnt any pattern to it.The falling down sensation while asleep I have experienced too. For the rest, I dont even know what synaesthesia is lol. Is that the associating sounds with other stuff?

Ive had a go with duckduckgo, which is great for converting currancy by the way, you can type convert 40 usd to gbp which is convert 40 us dollars to british pounds, you have to learn the currancy codes though.

Its a fighting game using characters from the DC comics like batman and superman, made by the same people as Mortal Kombat. I believe the accessibility mode just beeps when theres an interactible object in the background to let you know its there, these objects arent strictly speaking necessary to play the game but I believe they have special effects like doing extra damage by blowing up and damaging your opponent and so on.

I just realised, I have one of the Turtle Beach DSS2 units and it can be used with pretty much any console and any standard 3.5mm headphones. It connects via optical toslink so it should work with pretty much any modern console out there whether it be the newer X bone and PS4 or the older X360 and PS3. It wont give you a headset microphone if you do it this way but you can use whatever headphones you already may have, or may buy in the future. It requires a USB port purely for power since it does signal processing and creates virtual surround as well as generally enhancing the audio, and yes it does make a difference even just listening to music, and it also gives you a USB pass through port for power in case your headphones use USB for a power boost. You could even get a toslink switch so you can swap the optical input source, and it has a 3.5mm auxiliary input if youd rather just plug your computer in with a 3.5mm male to male cable and swap between the sources with 
 the box, plus an old fashioned volume knob.

Hi, so. Im not sure if its just the iso Im trying to use, but I was trying to do an install of windows 7, and I got something like. This version of windows isnt compatable with the version you are running. If you are trying to upgrade, please use a different windows disc. If you wish to do a clean install, reboot into this disc and choose custom advanced.How can I fix this, or is it just an iso problem.

If you dont want games, youve got a few things you can make, but its gonna suck, being as thats very basic stuff were talking about.Bgt is based on angel-script, which in turn is based on C++, so if you learn BGT youve got it coming for C++, just gotta learn about maybe a third or two of the language after that. But I hear pure basic is good, its a programming language, it makes many things, but people are using it for games. But pure basic is its own thing, so if you wanna develop for mac youre kinda stuck on C++, or XCode, which is only for mac. But now XCode is dead, you gotta use swift. Swift will develop for both IOS and mac, but its a full fledged programming language, so yeah. I personally say script first, then program. Scripting is bgt, python, and _javascript_. Programming is anything C, java, pure basic, XCode, swift, all of that.

Gun sound works! I have made it so now you may pick from the sounds/guns/ folder in a dynamic menu and you may play it or play wait it. THis is in 1.6B, and I might remove the target destroy sound entirely, as that pans from the position of the target. In the future, I will try to add a bonus round where theres multiple targets at random speeds and pitches and you have to shoot as many as you can in 60 seconds, but Id have to use classes and arays for that, and Im no where near mastering that yet.

Xcode is an IDE, not a programming language. You program in Swift by using Xcode. If you wish to use the Apple technologies to develop for an iPhone, then Xcode is directly involved. If you use something like Ruby Motion, Xcode is still involved, but Ruby Motion hides it from you. Xcode is absolutely required if you wish to sign your app. If you dont sign it and dont have a jailbroken device, youre limited to the iOS simulator, and maybe not even that.Purebasic is not something I particularly like. Purebasic is basically C but with a nicer syntax and some built-in stuff you usually have to get elsewhere. Modern programming practices which are considered industry standard with good reason are impossible in Purebasic without being a very advanced programmer and knowing how to implement your own object orientation with function pointer tricks and casting. At the point wherein you can use these practices in a lang
 uage like Purebasic, you can also figure out how to install a library and most of the benefit is gone. Purebasic is also decidedly not free, though I will say that I think it can actually target Mac. If you were to consider Bgt versus Purebasic, it would be easier to jump from BGT. The idea that a language or technology is good because someone has made something good with it is a logical error: good programmers can make good things in just about anything. As a case and point, mainstream video games used to be programmed in assembly-the earliest Zeldas almost certainly have at least a large amount of it.BGT does not prepare you for C++ in any way. Bgt and most other languages (not including Purebasic) hide the fact that memory is being allocated and freed as much as possible. They just do the right thing in 90% of cases. C++, C, and many other native programming languages dont. In the specific case of
  Angelscript versus C++, however, C++ has a lot more than an additional two thirds. Try an additional nine tenths. If you want to go there, you can, but Angelscript is not really going to prepare you for it, nor is anything else for that matter. perhaps, ironically and judging from my personal experience reading real code written in it, not even C.

Id have been able too previously, but Motorola has been the cheapest actually accessible Android phone for a while now, allot of that is because most phones under 100 bucks have custom,, mostly proprietary overlays over the stock Google experience, Moto E 2015 is very new, insuring updates for at least 2 years, and its running Lollipop which is the newest version, and has several talkback improvements.If you go for an older, cheaper phone, maybe Moto G 2014, 90 to 100 bucks, or a used phone, youll not get as many talkback improvements by default, and its not for sure that you can update to Lollipop out of contract on those, plus, updates will have far less support time, though the Motog G is only 8 months or so old, so if you can find one used, that may be good.Otherwise, Id just ditch the touchscreen idea and get a still usable, but far more simple flip phone.

@grryfindoreJust create a folder on an external usb disk, copy the entire Windows dvd to that folder, boot from the WinPE and open that with Windows Explorer after boot.Now start the Windows setup program and wait for the process to complete.Note that you cant do an upgrade of a previous installation of Windows when using that method.So back up all important data on the partition on which you intend to install Windows before starting.@ChrisI dont know about support for the Mac sound card, but if you want to be safe just plug in a usb headset into the computer before booting the talking preinstallation environment.Even a cheap usb headset or an old external SB Live External will do.

@DranelementThe setup will create a new partition if none exists.If there is already an active partition Windows will be installed to that unless you repartition manually with diskpart.Its long time ago since I had to perform a Win7 installation so be warned, but the setup from usb stuff has really gotten less complicated with Windows 7.Important: Installation of Windows 7 and XP from WinPE is different, and XP is really a pain in the ass unless you know which command line options to provide the winnt32.exe and which parameters to write in the answer file.I have successfully done both but Xp did not install from WinPE out of the box, because I had to build my own custom iso and correct my own answer files several times.XP installation from WinPE is also difficult because the program must knhow about the exact distribution source with wich it must continue setup after reboot.If you really want and need XP its simply easier and more accessible to install it in a virtual machine.If you have the paid products VMWare Fusion or VMWare Workstation, no problem because you can automate the installation from the virtualization software.Workstation and Fusion will generate answer files for unattended installation of Windows XP and 7.If you havent these products, just download VMWare Player and the empty virtual machine which I provided earlier in this thread.I have created an empty virtual machine for use with VMWare Player.You can tweak the virtual hardware configuration  by editing the vmx file.512 MB RAM, sound card, 100 GB IDE harddisk (VMDK).The machine can be used with the free VMWare Player to boot up a talking Windows PE or Linux.Name the bootable iso test.iso and place it in the same directory as the vmx and vmdk file.Note that VMWare Player/Workstation creates a file with the extension .nvram in the virtual machine directory.In order to boot from the iso, you must always delete that file before starting the machine otherwise it will attempt to boot from the virtual harddisk.Download links:https://www.sendspace.com/file/auc4uwhttps://userscloud.com/gq526ix965gn---This empty virtual machine can of course be used to bootstrap the Windows setup or a talking Windows Preinstallation Environment.I know that we have Easy Install if we pay for VMWare Workstation or Fusion, but as a matter of principle blind users should have the same opportunity tovirtualize their Windows installation without having to pay for something others can get for free.

It is great but we can’t use it, unfortunately.It has some great features which I like so much, like editing audio options, effects, noise reduction, instruments and other features, which are read back to you, but if you want to change the percentage within an option, like cutting the song, changing pitch or tempo, it won’t read anything. I still find cool edit pro the greatest one from the accessible programs for mixing and editing audio. It’s better than Audacity.

sound forge exists on windows, it is maybe sound forge 11.0 or 12.0 now, but the accessibility is pretty bad. It is a good program in my opinion, but we cant use it so far. You can perform some tasks like cutting or trimming songs delete vocals and other stuff, but it needs a lot of work because your screen reader wont read so much.

Dentin, I believe that Vastator, my primary character, got to about level twenty-four or twenty-five necro before things started getting out of control. I might be off by a few levels either way, its been a while. But yeah, at that point I started being invited into more group-related stuff... But once the heat of that wore off, I found myself becoming rapidly overwhelmed whenever I tried to go out by myself.Mind you, the more I think about it the more tempted I am to go back in there, if for no other reason than to see all the new stuff thats been added. Maybe Ill try to return to some more familiar territory, just to get my bearings, then see if I have any better luck soloing this time around.

@DranelementThe setup will create a new partition if none exists.If there is already an active partition Windows will be installed to that unless you repartition manually with diskpart.Its long time ago since I had to perform a Win7 installation so be warned, but the setup from usb stuff has really gotten less complicated with Windows 7.Important: Installation of Windows 7 and XP from WinPE is different, and XP is really a pain in the ass unless you know which command line options to provide the winnt32.exe and which parameters to write in the answer file.I have successfully done both but Xp did not install from WinPE out of the box, because I had to build my own custom iso and correct my own answer files several times.XP installation from WinPE is also difficult because the program must knhow about the exact distribution source with wich it must continue setup after reboot.If you really want and need XP its simply
  easier and more accessible to install it in a virtual machine.If you have the paid products VMWare Fusion or VMWare Workstation, no problem because you can automate the installation from the virtualization software.Workstation and Fusion will generate answer files for unattended installation of Windows XP and 7.If you havent VMWare Workstation or Fusion, there are several solutions.

Hi.So, I have the WIndows Phone and am finding its not that bad. Sure, it needs a lot more work since a lot of the apps arent very accessible, but I love using Cortana, e-mail, and internet explorer. While this may not seem like a lot of stuff to use, I think if Microsoft continues to enhance narrator this could become another option.Anyway, I have two bluetooth questions.Firstly, why cant I connect my logitech k760 to the phone? WHen I go to pair it, narrator reads out a pairing code to enter on the keyboard, but when I enter the code on the keyboard and press enter, nothing happens. THe dialogue that has the bluetooth pairing code has an OK button, but pressing that doesnt seem to work. Any ideas?Secondly, when I pair a bluetooth headset or speaker, the audio is in that crappy 8k telephone quality and the bluetooth connection seems to be very unstable. When I say unstable, I mean it seems to constantly disconnect and connect, mak
 ing it hard to use narrator. When it works, narrator and all other audio sounds 8k.Any advice on this?Also, it looks like I cant update my OS. Im positive im not running the latest version of WP 8.1, because I dont have the option to turn off narrator hints or use touch typing. I think its because I bought a locked ATT phone. DOes this mean I made a huge mistake and wont be able to get more updates that hopefully contain accessibility improvements? If so, is there a way I can get newer software through some method like is possible with custom roms in Android?

@Grryf, yes, I really shouldve checked this earlier and Im very glad Daigonite fixed the issue with xp (sinse I really dont see what the point of upgrading is besides giving microsoft more money).I do however have nsome newbie questions which doubtless you or someone else could possibly answers now that the game is working, sinse remember I havent tried any of the versions for god knows how long. First, is there a way to get a key reference in game? I read the instructions on keyboard shortcuts, but manifestly this game has a lot, which is fine accept itd help to have a list to hand while playing.Second, I seemed to get stuck in the game, mostly because I suspect I dont know how the D info command for map objects seems to work, sinse sometimes it pointed out the locations of people and places accurately, sometimes not, (I ran into a couple of people in my rivals house and pallet town which werent mentioned in the
  command). After going to my rivals house I was told hed gone to see Professor oak, which does make sense sinse as I remember the Pokemon anime series (my major exposure to the Pokemon plot), that is where Ash started out, however when I went to Prof Oaks house the d command told me there was a table at coordinates 12-4,  which for some reason I couldnt find at all, and prof oak at coordinates 5-5, who again seemed to be missing. I did find a pinging object and when i walked over it I was told it was a pokaeball, however when I hit enter on it nothing happened. I suspect Im missing something fairly basic here, indeed I do wonder if I should be playing the game on headphones rather than speakers sinse it is possible npcs and object sounds are more used than I remember from the very early betas.
