Re: Audio games as an alternative for someone who has recently lost sight

Glad to help. Note that "playable" in the case of mortal combat is a fairly relative term, sinse to play the game a person would need to carefully listen to it's sounds and have a clear knolidge and memory of which each sygnifies to act accordingly, (and with a lot of different characters, voices and special moves this could be a long process), it is certainly not an instant apprehention process the way playing an actual audio game would be.

Re: Tentative Entombed 2 Design Decisions

On the pet issue, I think  job specific pets would be nice provided their affectiveness at lower levels will remain fairly constant, however if some jobs are to start without one a pet shop might be fun as well. On multiclassing I personally loved the two jobs system in Entombed. One of the things that always made the game interesting to me was the fact that you couldn't just minimax your party to oblivian. it wasn't just a matter of choosing all the best complementary race, spells, skills and equipment with the biggest bonuses and wailing away, you actively needed to play the hand you were dealt, and if on occasion that hand could be pretty scummy such as an ogre mage or a halfling fighter, well that was what you had to deal with. I don't think I've ever seen another game that had this level of judgement and adaptation required of it's players. The only thing I would like to see would be a bit more randomness about who you rescue and wh
ere and perhaps some choice about who joins your party in the end, rather than specifically giving you characters on the third and fifth floor and no more (particularly sinse the chance to get extra characters later on would encourage players to keep playing if one of their characters died), plus of course with essentially more picks from the random race/job pack you would need to make more choice, do you let that halfling brawler join your party? or do you hold out for the chance of finding someone tougher later on. the only major issue with the job system in Entombed 1 is that the correspondance between magic based and technique based jobs didn't work out very well, meaning that playing a multiclass fighter/mage style would simply not be functional either way, sinse the magic based jobs just start with one technique point meaning  they won't get to used techniques very much, while the technique based jobs get very little by way of mana per level (plus of
course their statistics don't advance very much meaning their spells are not very effective). Within the two bounderies, magic type jobs and technique type jobs there was a lot of scope for variety, but some better correspondence between the two at higher levels might be nice, I once finished the game with my party comprised of a monk/healer, a trickster/thief and a bard wanderer,  and actually couldn't kill the last boss sinse even though I killed the lich thanks to some luck with the monk's break bones skill, neither the monk techniques, nor the harm spell, nor either character's attacks could damage the white chrystal more than it was regenerating. Racial skills or techniques might also be a nice thing to have in the game, stilll more if interaction with the environment is going to be part of entombed ii, after all some races like dwarves and goblins will naturally be better underground, also I was mortified that dwarves did not get th

For example, other than it's properties in weapon use or the effectiveness of brawler grabs, I was never completely clear what changes to size with the grow or shrink spells actually did. Likewise, at least a tocan explanation for how your characters attain their second job in game might be nice. For example, when you reach the correct level: "character name stumbles on the corpse of insert name here, reading her/his diary character name learns the skills of the new job name" Or "As you rest, character name explains to you that she/he didn't always want to be a "insert first job name", and that his/her true profession is as a "insert second job" T
hat would at least give things a little context and backstory rather than randomly having a paladin assassin for no reason, and in some sense be realistic, sinse hay in reality we don't just do one job or have one thing we're good at (or at least we don't unless we're really! boring).

Re: Psycho Strike - New Strategy/Action game

I think that this game could really do with a story mode. The biggest turn off for me is that there is absolutely no structure to the game. You can play the missions in any order and as many times as you want. The only guide you have is your objective to kill enemies or gain money, and maybe the gang members themselves get bored because that's all they can do. I know I do, .

Moderation!  As has been said, new releases is for announcing newly released or discovered games, general game discussion is for asking questions, so this topic is being moved. Please remember in the future. Also, I will take the liberty of changing the subject of this topic sinse "question" is a bit ambiguous, as people looking at the topic list won't know what this is a question on, and your more likely to get an answer if people more quickly know what you want.

With upgrades, aerobatics, the ability to crash, you get the idea.I've been looking into it with bgt and so far its been going decently. You all let me know and who knows. Re: AG Debate: Apple Watch Acccessibility, Equals More iOS Blind Users?

@Afrim, funnily enough I bought an Iphone primarily for the games and other functions, but have found the access to the phone bit surprisingly useful. Previously I used a none speaking nockeer phone, which worked fine as a phone, I could call numbers and get voice messages, and I had a parrot voicemate which I used for contacts, addresses and phone numbers and what not.Though I was getting it primarily for games and useful aps, I bought the Iphone because well if I was spending that amount of money I might as well have the hole shebang, and yet I've found the Iphone's ability to store contacts and even the ability to read text messages surprisingly useful, indeed I've found myself using my Iphone for some quite odd things I wouldn't have expected, and that quite aside from all the cool games like king of dragon pass, the choiceof titles, audio defense etc.Btw, one thing that lots of people are finding amusing about the  Apple watch is
that you can have gestures to activate various things such as siri, one of them is a hold up fist gesture, and people have been programming some very amusing things to play when this gesture occurs. "this! is! sparta!" from the 300, "Shoryuken", The dragon ball Z "ka may ha may ha" (appologies for mangled spelling), etc. I would rather like one that has paul Mcgan saying "I! am the doctor!"  just for awsome factor .As I said, it's a rather silly gimmic at the moment and until someone  actually creates some interesting  aps that interact with it will likely remain so, especially at the inflated price, but I do think the gestures part is amusing!

Hi.I'm still quite new in the game, and I'm a total newbie regarding to all the features. Have you considered making more guides or updating the readme? I would gladly help where I can regarding to this, but first I have to get more used to the game. It seems as there are a lot of Things which could be added to the readme or any guide. I'm not asking for walkthroughs so you don't have to figure out something on your own, but just explanations on how Things Works.

If what the above post said doesn't work, make sure that epitaphworld is located within the epitaph folder, make sure scripting is enabled by pressing alt enter, shift tabbing to the treeview, and arrowing down to scripting, then tab to enable scripts, it might be checked already, go ahead and uncheck it, and then re-check it. then hit okay. If the problem continues let me know.

Reality mud client, a small and lightweight portible mud client

Reality mud client, a small and lightweight portible mud client

A while back, I had got fed up of vipmud's demo limitations, and I didn't have the 30 bucks to spend on it. So I sat down and rote my own mud client. Today I decided to go back and rewrite it, updating it with newer libs and a cleaner interface. Note, this is lightweight as in its extremely portible, so you could carry it around on an externnul hard drive and not need to install it. At present, their is no soundpacks support since i'm releasing it to see what people think. I've tested it with mainly miriani, but any mud should work. This will work with the same screen readers that dmnb did, nvda, possibly jaws, and super nova. If anyone gets any use out of this and want's me to continue adding features, please let me know. If you need any help, you can contact me on dmnb, here, or on miriani. I go by simen anderson their. And with out further ado, the link. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/266 … client.zip

Re: Would you be interested in an rc flight simulator?

yeah that would be cool, because products like RealFlight require that you have a radio which can be interfaced into the PC and not just any controller like the one I have which is not a heli radio but just an xbox 360 wired controller. Of course then you gotta figure does BGT have libs for dealing with input from controllers, if not, then that could be a challenge.

Well, I really agree that apple accessibility is precious and I think no one has done such a great job like them. I previously used an old Symbian phone, and than a non-speeking nokia device which spoke only the names of your registered contacts and a voice training option, but I went for an Android device. Comparing it to Symbian, it was noticeably better, but iPhone's accessibility is clearly the best. Although I like Android the most, accessibility is what convinces me to go for an iPhone. if I wasn't blind, I'd choose an android device, certainly Samsung, but accessibility has more extensive work to be done. That's why I'll buy an iPhone 6 after this one gets a little obsolete.

2015-04-29 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — General Game Discussion : Dark via Audiogames-reflector

Re: Tentative Entombed 2 Design Decisions

As far as the magic/technique imbalance went, the basic problem was simply that your primary job dictated a huge amount in terms of initial startup and advancement, ie, your amount of mana/technique points, your weapon and armor skills and (I believe), the bulk of your character's stat advances, although I'm less sure of these sinse we never really got to know much about how our stats such as strenth, coordination, intelligence or creativity advanced throughout the game.If however your secondary job had some affect on these factors, eg, ganing more mana if you had a magical job, or getting extra technique points at higher levels, that would even things out to some extent. It is also quite possible that part of the imbalance was due to the general problem Entombed 1 had towards the end of the game of making all enemies hugely armoured hulking mountains, meaning that only spells powered by maxed out intelligence or attacks powered by maxed out strength (plus
the hardest possible weapons and crytical hits),  would do any good at all. I have no problem with the idea that a fighter/mage is less good at magic than a mage/necro or less good at combat than a fighter/assassin, however "less good" shouldn't translate to practically useless. I think though the damage types mentioned in entombed 2 will help a lot with this, sinse it's much better to have a fighter mage who can do less of a given damage type to a target, but can still have the target affected by that damage than one who simply can't do enough damage to get through the enemy's impenitrably tough  hyde. Then of course there is the environment question which will be a totally new aspect to gameplay, sinse I love the idea of having to think about whether it's a good idea to go all out melee monster when you risk your big tough fighter stumbling into traps they can't detect, getting jumped on by ambushing enemies or
zapped by items with magical curses that they're too dumb to figure out, not to mention the new rank system providing room for other styles of combat rather than just  hammering away with the max damage possible.

What I'd really like to say, is that wireless or Bluetooth headphones are much harmful to your health and your brain. The reason Why? it's quite simple. Such headphones built-in with wireless connectivity provide electromagnetic waves which are said to be very harmful to our body. You, but not only you, many people, would say that why do they allow their sales to go on if they are harmful? alright, this business is undoubtedly the most profitable one in the market. Cable headphones are much more recommended although wireless headphones offer a variety of options for a pear of headphones.

Parser is super clunky, the learning curve is steep and some of the mazes boarder on the insane, but don't let that put you off. Braminar: https://www.sendspace.com/pro/3c7hpdA really nice little rpg with lots of random encounters and strangeness. Repeating stats screen can be a tad annoying but it's worth a try all the same.Drone:https://www.sendspace.com/pro/ehsfu5A game based on braminar with even more randomness, and some audio challenges, though only using the pc speaker I believe. World of legends:https://www.sendspace.com/pro/yc0q93A console window rpg released in 2006. I'm not sure if this one needs dosbox or not but I know it won't work under 16 bit. Rather silly in parts, but very epic in others and with some interesting mechanics, albeit it is a little easy to cheat.Castaway: https://www.sendspace.com/pro/uicaa8An old if style game, set on a desert island. Re: AG Debate: Apple Watch Acccessibility, Equals More iOS Blind Users?

I will agree on that score. Apple do many things I don't like, their proprietory attitude to data and software development, their bloody annoying insistance on not letting you have any control over your media organization, their habbit of ramming so called "Vertical intigration"  ie, just allowing support and connectivity between their own devices and system using their own software (Itunes on the Pc at least is the spawn of satan!). However, all that being said I can't deny the fact that Apple have come up with a bloody good screen reader that runs by default, can interact with all of an Ios device's native functions  and handles a touch screen interface extremely well, and because of that compatibility there are a huge number of very awsome aps being developed for Ios, from games, to satnavs, to recognition aps etc. I'm not one of the priests of Apple who think everything they do is covered in golden glorious shiny goodness a
nd rale against heretics for using any other system, indeed the way such people actively support Apple's monopolistic policy sort of gets up my nose, however I will say there is no denying there are huge bennifits to Ios, and I'd highly recommend an Iphone as a device just on the basis of what it does and what has been released for it. That is why while I haven't bothered with the Iphone 6 series (sinse there really is nothing wrong with my Iphone 5), I probably will be keeping an Ios device around in the future, indeed depending upon it's functionality I suspect I'll be trading my Iphone 5 in for a 7 at some point in the next few years.Of course, whether I bother with the Apple watch is another question entirely.

Re: Epitaph Soundpack

I'm really sure many people use mush-z to play it, not just the normal mushclient. So, I'm going to place the guide for instaling it on mush-z here. It sure works 100%. At least it works for me.Mush-z users who keep every single mud in one pack and want to try this out, please consider reading :steps :1. Get the soundpack file (of course), extract it somewhere you prefer.2. Ignore the rest of the folder except worlds. Go inside the worlds folder and you'll see Epitaph folder. In this folder, there is a world file, world script and all sounds.3. Coppy the epitaph folder, and Epitaph only, not the plugins thingy, especially if you have more than one luaaudio plugin (like me). Go to your mush-z folder, go to worlds and place it there.*if you don't know where the mush-z main folder is, have a look in start menu>all programs submenu>mush-z (or mushclient, or whatever you name it, for some people).4. Open the wor
ld file using notepad or wordpad, scroll down until you find this :script_filename="C:\blah blah blah\bla blah blah\whatever\Epitaphworld.lua"Leave the notepad window right there and get out of the window. Remember the Epitaph script I mentioned earlier in this guide? That is how you make use of it. Go to worlds>Epitaph>Epitaphworld.lua, don't open it, just press alt+d and hold shift then press down, then control+c to coppy the thing. You now have the script file path for your lovely Epitaph world.5. Go back to the notepad world file, delete all the "C:\blah blah blah\blah blah blah\" or whatever path you have it (don't delete the quote. If you accidentally do, rewrite it again), place the new path file you coppied, add the epitaphworld.lua or whatever your scrip file name is, if the path doesn't have the file name (most likely). After you're done adding, control+s to save the thing then close the window. Open mush-z a
nd load the world. Everything should work properly from now.*Regarding to this step, if you feel like it's hard to type down the script file name, just delete all that in the quote, except epitaphworld.lua then place the file path you have. Make sure the \ key is still there before epitaphworld.lua.N.O.T.E! :*If you encounter the luaaudio runtime error, control+shift+p to sshow the plugins window, remove the luaaudio plugin you have and relocate it again. If that doesn't help, get the plugin from this link :https://www.dropbox.com/s/if20qdbpgjl7jjq/Lua.xml?dl=0In this case, place the new plugin in the folder and remove luaaudio.xml from your world file then add this one. It's not the same plugin. I can't remember which one I use for Aartwolf soundpack since I have two, one is the lua thingy, which I renamed for easier adding, and one is luaaudio. I think this o
ne is for Aartwolf, though.*If your sounds don't play, despite the script you added, and you're very sure you've done everything correctly, load the world, alt+g to go to the game menu then go to configure>script, relocate the script file and everything should work properly.*Don't remove the luaaudio from your computer. If you do, you've gone terribly wrong and might have to reinstall mush-z again. If you have two luaaudio plugins, just rename one of them to whatever you feel comfortable having, then try adding each of them to see which one works. Installing Aartwolf soundpack is much harder, I can say. That's why I'm really concern of you deleting the luaaudio thingy. I've done the same before. It was horrible.Hope this helps, and sorry for any mistake I might have made in this post. English is not my native tongue.

Hi,it's great to hear that the game will get more content in the future! That's really good to know and I'm very much looking forward to whatever updates there will be.And I can only aggree, a story mode with speciffic missions to do would be great! I don't mind running around and randomly kill stuff to blow of some steam, but I also like to have some kind of objective and a sense of progress in a game, be it through an ongoing story, reaching certain goals and getting unlockables for it etc.

Well Turtlepower I don't know about pets but the other suggestions you made definitely make sense within the context of the game. I personally et no small satisfaction from smashing the hell out of a vault or prison door while knifing or beating the guards to death. SPeaking of weapons I think it'd be cool if you could get your hands on other types of weapons, golf clubs, baseball bats and things of that sort. That brings up another idea that might be interesting. You could have certain criminals specialize in certain weapon types. So you could have a criminal who prefers guns over other weapons, so if you gave him one he might do more damage and better maintain his loyalty to you.

I also hate that connectivity method they use in their devices, I don't find it quite useful only an airdrop option and no Bluetooth is there. But accessibility is perfect, isn't it? there are so much options that you can't make out whether is it made especially for blinds or for all people despite disabilities or abilities. Anyway apple takes a high control over your activity on the phone and that's where I hate it. You can't make many changes and you are stuck on the available options it offers.

Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone

Here is the Loot Points feature as I understand it. Aprone, please correct any mistakes.* Instead of going HC, leveling up to 150, then converting back as a title character, you can now gain titles just by looting... A lot. A normal character can gain the title of Private with 9,000 loot points, for instance. Yes, that's right: no need to go HC at all if you don't want to, and no need for HC characters to revert to normal if you don't want to. Title in either mode!* Each piece of loot, or broken/special item, you find gains 1 loot point. Crates in missions do NOT count.* Counting began when the /lifetime command was added, so some of you will have a few points, others will have many thousands.* Points persist; if you die, your points will not be reset.* Use /lootpoints or /lifetime to check your points. No names are associated with these commands, just type the word. That means that, to check the status of other characters you own,
you must log in as that character.* Points do not reset when you gain a title, the next requirement simply moves up. Specialist, for instance, is 17,500 (or somewhere around there); that means you have 9,000 from gaining private, and must gain points to add to that 9,000 rather than starting back at 0. The system is very similar to Experience Points in that way.I hope that's mostly accurate, and proves helpful.

Yeah, the pets thing was just something totally random I thought of. Of all the suggestions I made, I would be ok if that one never made it into the game. But your idea about members specializing in different weapons made me think of something else. What if you have gang members who aren't good marksmen, or who take too much time to break open vaults? Each member could have their own strengths and weaknesses, in other words, and these things could be taken into account when deciding who to take on missions with you. This way, it isn't just a case of whose level is higher, but who can benefit you the most in certain missions. For example, the guys who aren't great with shooting people could go to the farm and kill goats, or go to stores and loot if that's added, while you and some of the other guys go and free prisoners and so on. And if there are members who get more attention because they're better at the more high profile missions, other members mig
ht get jealous, decreasing their loyalty. The other thing I thought of right after I posted last night was an electronics store. I think this is set in modern times, right? So there should definitely be a way to steal computers and cell phones and stuff like that. There wouldn't have to be any brand names or anything, before anybody starts talking about the possible legal ramifications.

Re: AG Debate: Apple Watch Acccessibility, Equals More iOS Blind Users?

@Afrim, you are unfortunately correct on Apple's rather streight jacket methods (even something like creating folders for your ap icons isn't the easiest thing in the world).  However, I would say it's only with media that this system becomes a real nightmare. When I bought my Iphone I bought it with the full understanding that Itunes was not good for compatibility with my existing media collection or indeed doing anything outside of Itunes. I bought my Iphone for the access and the games and other aps. For a while I did find a way to make Itunes work for me, but as per Apple's interface changes in version 12 that didn't work out, and it was a pain in the arse anyway, hence why I bought myself a Victor stream instead to be my portable audio device. All that being said however, there is no denying the accessibility is great, and what developers have produced  using the Ios technology has been nothing short of awsome in some cases. For example, there is nothing like playing audio defense and having to physically turn and shoot the zombies with your Iphone, or on a more crytical level getting streight satnav information about your current location and what shops your passing automatically spoken as you walk around.

Re: A Modern Day Comparison of JAWS and NVDA

2015-04-29 Thread AudioGames . net Forum — Off-topic room : tward via Audiogames-reflector

Re: A Modern Day Comparison of JAWS and NVDA

I have been using NVDA full time for the last three years, and I personally see no reason to switch back to Jaws or Window-Eyes. I find NVDA  is adequate for everything I do from reading e-mail, to browsing the web, to working on office documents, to programming so really can't see myself paying hundreds on Jaws when NVDA does the same for less.Of course, the cost is probably NVDA's best selling point. I suspect most blind computer users doesn't really have the money to spend on a new Jaws upgrade every time they release one. Especially, since over the last few years I have seen very little benefit in upgrading Jaws because most of the new features or updates never were that important to me. I was just spending money for features and updates I didn't need. When I need a particular upgrade I got hit with penalties for not keeping my SMA up to date so had to pay for versions I hadn't used or planned on purchasing. The other thing I particul
arly like about NVDA is that it is written in Python, an off the shelf programming language, and all modules/scripts are written in same. Freedom Scientific expects people to pay for their training materials to script Jaws where NVDA's scripting is again free. So if someone really wants the full power of their screen reader NVDA offers an off the shelf scripting language which can be learned for little to nothing compared to Jaws's proprietary and expensive scripting capabilities. As far as performance goes I find NVDA works well enough. I have three laptops with different specifications and NVDA works on all three without lag or issue. Jaws always seemed to lag or slow down the machines which is another reason why I don't use it. I am absolutely unhappy with Jaws's performance on my machines and don't like the way it lags and slows down the system. NVDA doesn't seem to do that so that is what I have been using.Last of all no security. Mayb
e this doesn't bother some Jaws users but I absolutely hate Jaws's anti-piracy protection. Regardless if we are talking their old security keys, dongles, or online activation it always, always, always seemed to get in my way and cause me problems. I understand why Freedom Scientific institutes such draconian measures to protect their product but all the same they have been problems from day one.For example, several years ago when I was in college I had to reformat and reinstall Windows 98 on my desktop. Finally came the part where I had to reinstall Jaws. To my utter dismay the floppy disc containing my Jaws keys was bad and I could not install my keys on the desktop. It was my misfortunate that this was the weekend and I was effectively without a computer until Freedom Scientific sent me a new floppy with product keys on it. Even worse I had reports to write and no computer. All because of Jaws's crappy anti-piracy measures.A couple of years later Freed
om Scientific were switching over to dongles. I thought that might be a good idea so purchased one. Big mistake half the time when it was plugged into my computer Jaws didn't recognize it, and rather than replacing the damn thing for free Freedom Scientific wanted me to buy a new one when the thing was defective from day one. So I feel I personally got screwed buying a piece of junk dongle and them not honoring that purchase by at least trying to send one to me that worked. With NVDA I don't have to worry about any of that crap. No dongls, no product security keys, no online activation. I just install it and it works. For me that is worth its weight in gold since I rely exclusively on my screen reader to speak to me and absolutely hate fooling with the anti-piracy garbage when trying to get something done. I gave up on Jaws years ago simply because their security was a hassle and nowadays NVDA is a better alternative for me without the headaches.

Re: Audio games as an alternative for someone who has recently lost sight

I tend to agree with Dark here. That is why I did not reference any games like Mortal Kombat because while some blind players find them playable in this case playable is a very relative term and state of affairs. We must keep in mind the person we are talking about is a 16-year-old boy who has only recently lost his sight and has cognitive issues with short term memory. Both of those make playing a game like Mortal Kombat very difficult. Since most blind players depend on sounds and their short term memory quite a lot to play they might be providing false hope to this person who might not be up to that type of rigorous memorization and as adept at using sound to figure out to do what when. Moral of the story try and give suggestions based on this person's potential capabilities not your own.

I hate the most, the way iTunes work. Transfering music into your iPhone is a real frustration. You can't copy and paste music like you do in a removable media, but you have to do it through iTunes. It will convert the files into its needed format, then transfer them in the music folder and so on. It could be easier, couldn't it? + the price of an iPhone is always high. There won't be special offers any time. If you take a look on apple.com, you'll see that the price of an iPhone 4s is 400 dollars. But is it worth spending your money on a 5 year old phone? Sure no!I know there are other sites which offer good deals, but their policy is stupid. Who in this world would spend 400 dollars for a phone like that. it's out dated and it has the lowest specs on the market.

jaws could even be more secured. If you take a look carefully, you will find out that many blind users around the world use a cracked jaws. In my country, I don't see anyone buying any copy of jaws. They could prompt you for a serial number for the installation to begin and that would be the peak of the iceberg. I promise the number of jaws users worldwide would be dramatically halved.

Re: Swamp, zombie FPS by Aprone

Thanks Mehgcap!  The only addition I'd like to make to your list is that each piece of loot someone finds in HC mode, actually gives them 3 loot points instead of 1.  This is to help make up for the fact that HC has less loot around to find. But yes, loot points now offer players an alternate way to gain titles.  For a long time I've had a group of players who enjoyed collecting loot on the main maps, and did not want to ever go HC and get titles the traditional way.  This new system now gives players with that playing style, a way to access titles. As times goes on I may adjust the number of loot points needed for each title, based on how easy or hard it is for people.  The /lifetime command was added 2 Swamp versions ago (if I'm remembering correctly), and I waited around all this time before using it just because I needed to watch and see how much loot people actually find over time.  I want looting to be a new way to gai
n titles, but I also do not want it to be so easy that no one would ever try to gain them the old way.  So my goal is an alternative, not a replacement.  I will continue to work on bug fixes and improvements for the next update.  Enjoy!

If your player, the leader of the gang, gets taken by the police or killed, you're still responsible for paying the other members of your gang. HiHere's my thoughts on the game both good and bad.At first, after playing the game only 2 or 3 times and not really knowing what I was doing, I thought it was a total ripoff to even buy in the first place, but after playing it more, and actually understanding what I was doing, I now realize that it's still a ripoff price wise, but that it's also reasonable to pay for it in the first place, especially considering the voice work, music, and sound effects.I wish that more people would have done the same thing before posting here and letting their opinions be known, because allot of the criticisms that I'm seeing seem kind of unfounded, and are mostly based on the price of the game verses the replayability, rather than the game it's self, and even though that's an important factor, for obvious reasons, it isn't the only one, and it's usually somewhat negotiable anyway.I especially didn't
like how some of the developers on this forum reacted to the game, calling it extremely limited, boring, and an unfinished waste of time, which, I find to be highly hypocritical, considering that most of those same people's own projects were either similar or not as good to this one, being distinguished only by the fact that they were free, which, isn't really a very good excuse in my eyes, since you'd expect someone who actually cares about the community to, if not expend the same level of effort on, than at least to use a similar work ethic with a free game as they might with a payed one.Either way, at this point, I'd like to see more platforming and climbing elements, such as those that were shown in the Perilous Hearts concept demo that everyone was so excited about for exactly those reasons in the game before I'd consider it to be worth even 20 dollars, and for screen reader support to be integrated, or at least to have more control over SA
PI speech rate and pitch within the game, along with a fuller storyline if possible. That said, I'd pay 5 dollars easy for this game at the moment, and 10 dollars with out too much trouble, and even though I feel bad about that, considering the quality of the voice acting, music, and general idea for the game, I don't think that expecting people to pay 25 dollars for a game that, for all intents and purposes, would have been better off released either when it was a more polished product, or as an Alpha/Beta with the possibility to preorder.

her than the game it's self, and even though that's an important factor, for obvious reasons, it isn't the only one, and it's usually somewhat negotiable anyway.I especially didn't like how some of the developers on this forum reacted to the game, calling it extremely limited, boring, and an unfinished waste of time, which, I find to be highly hypocritical, considering that most of those same people's own projects were either similar or not as good to this one, being distinguished only by the fact that they were free, which, isn't really a very good excuse in my eyes, since you'd expect someone who actually cares about the community to, if not expend the same level of effort on, than at least to use a similar work ethic with a free game as they might with a payed one.Either way, at this point, I'd like to see more platforming and climbing elements, such as those that were shown in the Perilous Hearts concept demo
that everyone was so excited about for exactly those reasons in the game before I'd consider it to be worth even 20 dollars, and for screen reader support to be integrated, or at least to have more control over SAPI speech rate and pitch within the game, along with a fuller storyline if possible, and a bit more work on the AI, to make the game a bit less spammy and beatemup. That said, I'd pay 5 dollars easy for this game at the moment, and 10 dollars with out too much trouble, and even though I feel bad about that, considering the quality of the voice acting, music, and general idea for the game, I don't think that expecting people to pay 25 dollars for a game that, for all intents and purposes, would have been better off released either when it was a more polished product, or as an Alpha/Beta with the possibility to preorder, is either fare or realistic.

Well, there's a programme called Plover, which is supposed to work with certain keyboards or some steno machines. i'm not sure if the Wave Writer will work with it. I also found out that stenography could be used, similar to the Dvorak concept, to communicate at conversational speeds especially for people who can't speak or hear.

Well yeah just do what you can do unstoppable then see if Steve or someone might be able to help you add in the controller support at a later date. I don't have to tell you that that would make it a ton more realistic.

Re: Psycho Strike - New Strategy/Action game

hello, I for one have bought the game, and I haven't been disapointed for the 2 days I've had it, not even once. but I only have one point of critasism about this. I just had a level 7 character who I wanted to get up to level 17, because my AI people were stupid enough to destroy a wooden door before actually going after the iron one so I got this low level girl. So I gave her a pistol and sent her into the bar to do some killing, and in about 30 seconds everyone in the place was dead and I would just stand by the door and cops would die in about 2 seconds after entering. so, maybe there should be a level restriction for weapons? if not a level restriction, then a third stat should be added, intelegence. if you have enough intelegence you can start using better and better weapons. Mines and bombs would also need a sertain intellegence level, but that  should be fairly low sinse their consumable items. and that idea about corrupting cops isn't bad. maybe at the
start of a mission you would be given the option to pay off the cops, giving you some extra time before they start showing up, depending on how much money you gave them. of course, there should be a limit to this, sinse if you have like 500 in cash you could probably stay in there till you got bored . ither that or making the costs of bribing the cops so high that you wouldn't be able to aford it untill a long way into the game. Hope my contribution helps move this project forward because it has amazing potencial and this could turn into something awesome.

Re: AG Debate: Apple Watch Acccessibility, Equals More iOS Blind Users?

Well Afrim, as regards Itunes I completely agree, the thing is a real bitca of the first order, particularly if like myself you like to have your own organization for your books and music.I have a sneaking suspicion it exists as it does because Apple wanted to make it as hard as possible for people to play their existing media through the thing as opposed to buy stuff from them. It's like those stupid cinemas who reffuse to let you take in your own drinks or snacks in hopes you'll be forced to pay for their overpriced varieties. (sorry, Bitca is a buffy reference). However, All that being said, the other stuff your Ios system does as regards phone, contacts, aps, games, not to mention services like gamecenter is extremely good stuff. As regards price, to be honest I don't personally regard my Iphone as a phone, when i bought it I was in no need of a new phone as I said, I could've gone on with my nokia one just fine as far as the phoning went. However, I regarded my Iphone as a tablet computer that just happened to have a phone on it, and indeed bought it primarily for the games, aps, fun features etc, (even in the full understanding that media would be a dicy prospect). on that basis, the 500 quid I paid for the Iphone 5 in 2012 was a little expensive considering I could get a good spec laptop for half that, but not as insane as compared to the £30 my none speaking but completely servicable nokia cost me, and I will say that other than in the area of media (which as I said I wasn't entirely certain of to begin with), I haven't regretted it sinse, indeed probably on a basic time factor I've likely very much had my money's worth (heck just King of dragon pass alone has occasionally occupied me for days at a time).

Re: Psycho Strike - New Strategy/Action game

I currently am addicted to this game. so Much. I play it after my jobs to get rid of agression!I have my main char at level 55, one char at 31, another at 28, another at 47, and another at 20.So I played this game extensively. Here are a few points I realized. Some might be repeated here but it's worth noting!!!1. Prison: Did you know you can jump over people you pass? If you don't want to kill them, just jump over a bunch of people with the up arrow and tapping of the right arrow as you land. You will get to a door quicker in the prison this way.2. Go to the bar right away after you are out of the party. You can visit the factory for bombs (watch for the fence you jump),  but every single leveling up will delay you from ever having a chance to free a wooden sell (not a metal one)3. Also worth to note: Train your other people in the gang up alongside you. I made the mistake of not doing this, and now the two girls who I had are level 29
/27, while I'm 55. To train, use the bar and take them solo. You could take them all together which works but I found me manually training chars is a good way to do it.4. Unless you have 2 or 3 chars at the same level of character strength and stats, do not, I repeat, do not take them to the bank. Either go to the bank solo or take only the highest characters. 5. Jumping up and down can actually help you during a battle, like if you are opening a bank vault.6. After a specific trigger, the game will allow you a very special mode that's not mentioned in the manual. This I do not know what triggers but I got access to it. I won't spoil the mode unless Philip tells us. Sorry. It's super cool though and makes this game worth $89 even.7. Food is important. Keep your people's loyalty high by feeding them often (and checking the rassions) and paying them after each mission. Also know that they will get bored if you just take yourself solo. I
have one character at 100% loyalty, others are in their 90s.8. The steel shield is more worth at higher levels when you can rob banks easily. I have $8k in cash right now and I gave all of my characters a steel shield.9. Drugs suck. I had someone die because of them. They're cool, but I like how it's implemented and done. It's a quality I would only expect from someone like BGT, and this game probably took a long time to create. Months.

Police station: Remember that the police station ends when you kill everyone in the station. It's kind of like the party at the game's beginning. Trick is to kill everyone, there's only about 10, so it's limited. Once you killed everyone the char gets released.

Re: Tentative Entombed 2 Design Decisions

Perhaps I should rephrase then.If not triforcating the classes, perhaps multiclass options could have unique identifyers? THis is purely cosmetic, but a fighter mage doesn't sound as nifty as a battlemage, and a shadow dancer sounds a good deal better than a necromancer assassin.Another point: I wasn't suggesting these learned techniques could be learned by anyone. A warrior couldn't pick up a tome and learn a spell, so to speak. Rather, it would provide room for unique secrets and the potential for new skills/spells within the game, specific to class. Only a mage could benefit from the secret library with it's magical tomes, but if you happen to have a mage and stumble onto the library, then you might just learn a chain lightning spell or some such. Similarly, a mage couldn't defeat a bladedancer and walk away with a new sword form, but a warrior could probably do it. I don't suggest that these are intrinsic to the game like the wanderer
's playstyle, but rather as very are benefits for exploration and discovery. The wanderer I think should still have it's utility, and I highly agree that it should be able to observe and learn from opponents. Though, my personal view on the wanderer is that there is a hard limit to how many skills he can learn, but he can feasibly learn something from anything. So, he could learn an evasion tactic from a kobold, but whether or not that's worth learning when he only has 10 slots available for the entire game is another thing entirely.

Re: Tentative Entombed 2 Design Decisions

@Sevrior, I agree names for specific combinations of jobs would actually be very coolin an aesthetic sense even if just as titles, though given that there were 17 different jobs in the original entombed, that is 289 different names needed, although actually coming up with those could be rather a fun challenge:D. Oh, and btw yes, a fighter/mage and a mage/fighter would need different names given one starts with all the armor expertees and just a bit of magic and the other starts with all the magic and just the flurry skill and one technique point. I also agree about the wanderer, though I do think it'd be nice if the wanderer could learn some less normal techniques from monsters as they did in Entombed rather than just making them a total grab bag of other jobs' techniques, perhaps give them two skills, an "observe" skill needed for monsters, and a less powerful "mimmic" skill needed for other jobs, and obviously having a limited number of
slots for either to make you choose wisely (perhaps one new skill per 10 levels if there are to be a total of 100 in the game). Regarding specific encounters to learn more powerful techniques or spells, to be honest I'm firstly not sure how much this is needed in the game, especially if we have more chances to find and recruit other party members later on, and even more especially if things like elemental and different weapon type damage items will be included in the game meaning that there will always be new things to discover and try out even with the set number of techniques available to you at the time.Secondly, if the chance to find powerful spellbooks or encounter and learn from skilled enemies was! in the game, I'm not sure how well it would gell with the idea of having limited advancement in techniques, sinse hay woops you just spent several levels putting points into the backstab technique and have just learnt the improved backstab, say goodbye to th
e points you just spent, (even if there are 100 levels that is still not enough for all techniques and spells in the game, and certainly not enough to waste on stuff that will be superseeded). Therefore, either advanced techniques and spells would have to be learnt at one level and unabled to have skill points spent on them, or they would simply replace your initial spell or technnique with a buffer more advanced version, eg, mages learn an ancient spell which teaches them to cast flame burst instead of firebalt. I also am a little concerned that given your party at one time (assuming a three character anda  pet limit), will have at most 6 out of 17 (or however many), possible jobs, you'll have rather too many opportunities running into the wrong job specific items, though this could be fixed by making a single encounter serve to give out advanced techniques for several jobs at once, eg, an ancient spellbook has learnable spells for mages, necromancers, heale
rs, shamn or druid (although it'd be hard to think of ways that jobs such as bard or fortune teller might advance in this respect).I don't know, I'm not against the advanced techniques idea, but personally I hope that advancing through the dungeon will be more than interesting enough with it's multi damage items, extra rescuable characters, need to search for treasure, and greater chance of traps and curses without needing so many new toys to play with to hold the player's interest, as from an over all game progression perspective I always find it more interesting to think about countering what new stuff the enemies do than playing with what new stuff I have myself against the same old attacks.

well, I suppose you're right.I myself consider a modern phone or a smartphone an all-encompassing device as it provides almost everything you need. the services will certainly meet our demands because there is a wide variety of options over there. Weather, newspapers, Location, internet, music, youtube, radio, although iPhones do not have one, games, and an extremely extensive list of apps to download. Being this kind of device, it just makes your life easier because you have all in one. Laptops are supposed to do the same performance, but they do not have the mobile service and are bigger in size.

two questions, one of which might be a bit off topic.1. How can I measure how fast I type? what program can I use because I don't like those online inaccessible things.2. what exactly is this stenography business? I'm interested, to know what it is.:)

Re: Psycho Strike - New Strategy/Action game

Ah, another Idea Comes to my mind. In some games, i knew this from GTA ronly, you can get quests wich you can do for others. Foexample, another criminal wants you to place a bomb inthe car of another competitor to kill  him, because, let's say this competitor killed the Family of thegangster who gives you the quest. Maybe that could be another Thing for the future? Just na suggestio.

Re: police station, I experienced something different.  If I get my control character to the end of the level, it seems to free the prisoner.  I don't know, maybe my minions did kill everyone behind me.Tip: play the lowest level character you take on a mission, as this allows you to know when to scarper.Being able to send out your minions on independent missions makes having a larger gang make sense.  I liberated seven criminals before level 17 and it did make some things better, such as when I lost entire parties to the cops.I often have trouble hearing the SAPI voice over the mayhem and have to read the log after the mission to hear what I missed.Loyalty appears simple: pay 'em, feed 'em and you'll get 100% loyalty.  I had that across the board.

Re: AG Debate: Apple Watch Acccessibility, Equals More iOS Blind Users?

Funnily enough Afrim the size thing was never really a concern for me with the Iphone, I was just so used to carrying a laptop around it didn't bother me, after all I'd got used to wandering around with a laptop on my back sinse I was about 13, and have done lots of odd things like sit on train station platforms with a laptop on my knee or even sit on the deck of a cruse ship going down the Nile in Egypt in a sun lounger playing judgement day with my Laptop perched beside me on a little table. I regularly pulled the thing out on trains, busses, or even in cars. Indeed, at one light opera festival I used to go to I think I must've got a reputation for being a raging alcoholic sinse each morning at ten O.clock I used to go to a local pub where they had both wifi and a free powerpoint with my laptop to check e-mails and use the net. It's funny, I've seen people complain over the size of the Iphone 6 yet for me that is still tiny compared to my l
aptop, plus I carry a shoulder bag around with me anyway, (just for necessities such as reever's dog biscuites and guide dog papers). Plus of course the larger the screen the less fine your voice over  movements need to be. The major thing I do! notice with my Iphone as far as portability goes is the battery life, sinse even though i was always careful with my laptop batteries, I could only get about 7 hours max, (and that from owning two batteries), where as my Iphone, and for that matter my victor stream have a huge! battery life and will carry on going with no problems, especially if I switch to aeroplane mode and cut off net connectivity. All that being said, I wouldn't ditch my laptop and indeed still own one simply because there are things I would not want to do on my Iphone, partly because of apple's irritating setup, but also partly just out of convenience. Answering e-mails, Word processing and writing for example, sinse I don't
usually have my bluetooth keyboard with me and while either siri dictation or the on screen keyboard is fine for tapping search results into the ap store, entering your name into a game or entering a web address I'd not want it for anything long winded, plus I'm not sure about the Ios word processing options or how to get the documents off the Iphone anyway. Likewise, much as I like voiceover's performance in most native aps written for Ios, I'm still not entirely taken with using it to navigate the internet, I just find it's navigation of standard web page features even things like list boxes less than satisfactory, especially sinse even using the roter options jumping to things like headings is a bit hit and miss. For this reason I would certainly not be using Ios to say write a reply on this forum (I'm on my desktop for that). For me, I'd say a tablet or a smart phone is a different sort of device from a desktop or a laptop, it do
es different things and fulfills a different roll. I wouldn't swing my laptop around playing something like audio defense, or pull my laptop out on the buss to check what stop I was at, but I wouldn't sit and write a major document on my Iphone either.

Re: Tentative Entombed 2 Design Decisions

Dark:The names for the class combinations shouldn't be too difficult to assemble. There's already preexisting names for most of the combinations out there in the gameworld. As for advanced techniques, one solution would be to ensure that they don't replicate. I wasn't thinking so much of an improved backstab, but rather something like garotte, giving you both options with varying damage types. You may be right that such advancement would be unnecessary given the gameplay to star with, but on the other hand, I still feel there's something to be said for varied means of advancement. I understand where you're coming from in that you would prefer to learn to use what you're given and develop strategies based on that rather than deal with more and more content, and that makes sense. However, I can't help but feel that being limited to a linear level progression with corresponding skill evolution defines only one path of advanceme
nt within the game. While this is fine and pretty common, the most successful and interesting games are those that provide enough flexibility for advancement in a number of ways and directions. If I play the game again for replay value, I can switch up which skills I'm pursuing and classes I'm attempting, but the progression of level to level is the same, and this won't be altered by a difference in playstyle. On the other hand, if you introduce additional means of advancement and vary the way in which the game evolves from an exploration standpoint, then you get a new experience every time.

Re: Tentative Entombed 2 Design Decisions

One interesting question: Does the dungeon generator create the entire dungeon at the start? A more interesting option, but probably harder to code, would be to have the dungeon generator start out by generating the first few floors when you start. Then, as you explore, it can work on the next few floors, etc. This would allow for some or all of these possibilities:Reduce the number of seemingly valuable objects rendered useless by the fact that nobody in your party can use them. There should probably still be some such objects, but if you can generate the dungeon dynamically during play, you can account for new party members joining, choices the player has made which couldn't have been known at the start of the game, etc.Make the player's behavior influence future floors. For example, if someone is just zipping through floor after floor after floor going "Okay I'm on this brand new floor, now how fast can I find the stairway? Oh cool I just found
it, bye bye floor, nice to know you," you could optionally have the dungeon generator make the next few floors more of the same kind of stuff as we've already seen, since the player is probably not ready for the really good stuff yet. In other words, reward the people who really explore each floor, win lots of fights, etc. by letting them get on to some new stuff. One other idea I had would be to have several different lengths of game. E.G. you could select from a short, normal, long, gigantic, etc. game, based on what kind of a playing mood you're in. Each higher length game would have more floors in the dungeon. Of course, lots of stuff should be randomized. E.G. in the old Entombed, you always got rescues on the second and fifth floors and then never again, the drake is always on the seventh floor, etc.
