Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Fw: MVA load issue in proctor rack

2011-07-21 Thread Adil Shaikh
hi Erwan,

is this H323 gateway or MGCP gatway?

if this is H323 gateway you do not need to do hairpinning,

if mgcp then you need to do hairpinning,

most likely, you are getting error message due to 'server mwa' command in
voip and pots dialpeer.

could you please post your full config of this router.

thanks

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Fw: MVA load issue in proctor rack

2011-07-21 Thread Ashraf Ayyash
Hello All ,

This error indicates that while loading the script, the VXML file
IVRMainpage.vxml failed to be downloaded from 10.10.210.10:8080 (HTTP
GET).

maybe a firewall in the network is blocking the request from your GW
interface to 10.10.210.10:8080 or the GET HTTP souce ip is the reason
of this problem but finally this is a connectivity issue ,

i have seen some other post here for people who have MVA VXML loaded
but they have another issue , not sure how proctor lab is working
internal but this is the reason of the fail of loading the VMXL script
,

you can Telnet/ping/traces route using specific interface sources etc..
if you found that there router to 10.10.210.10 is routable from
specific source you can add static route for 10.10.210.10 via the
routable interface .

#The reason for the static route is because of the fact that the
router will always use the interface closest to the destination, there
is no
command to bind the http to an specific interface so static route can
be a solution for such situations

Best regards
Ash

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CCIE VOICE LAB PHONES [7940-7960] CME SIP QUESTION.

2011-07-21 Thread Mike Thompson
An important difference between 40/60 and newer phones are actually specific to
SIP. When dialing from a 40/60 in SIP, it uses en bloc dialing, meaning that it
sends the called party as one big set of numbers. 41/61 and later do KPML
which acts more like SCCP in that each digit is sent as it's hit and call
routing decisions are made with every key press. In en bloc dialing, the
decision isn't made until the number is presented to UCM, which occurs after
either the inter-digit timeout expires or you press the dial softkey.

Sent from my phone, apologies for any typos.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] CCIE VOICE LAB PHONES [7940-7960] CME SIP QUESTION.

2011-07-21 Thread Bill Lake
Use your CUCM to load sip, even in the lab or real world it works best.
Then once upgraded point the tftp (option 150) back at the CME and you then
can get registered on the CME.

I have done this several times without issue. However, I seldom work with
7960, mostly 61/62/65.

I think from reading the forums that the 7960's might be more difficult to
get SIP working on but I know getting SIP working with CME is very difficult
(which is why I have VM of CUCM on my PC, to upgrade phones in the field
that need SIP and not to local CME or over slow WAN to CUCM)

Can anybody weigh in?

Which OS/VMware version combo is the fastest for CUCM?
32-bit Windows Server?

64-bit windows XP / Server / 7?

If 64-bit, which VMware combo?

I'm currently running workstation 6.5

phone loads for both the 7940 and 7960's. I didn't buy the newer phones to try
and same a little money. I got new 7940s and 7960s, 8 for 384.00 - a guy made
me an offer I couldn't refuse. Thanks for your response.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] 1:1 pre-lab class

2011-07-21 Thread Voice Lab
I was wondering if anyone interested in one-on-one pre-lab class. And if
yes, how much you're willing to pay for it.

Here are the details:

Duration: 8 hours.

Delivery mothod: Virtual classroom (webex and voice conference) with CCIE
instructors.

Targeted audience: For the candidates who have taken CCIE voice lab at least
once. You may still enroll anyway. But you'll get the best out of it if
you had taken the lab before.

The class will focus on strategy, tricks and traps that was never told on
any exsiting official or "unofficial" study materials.

Instructors credibility: Most of the instructors are holding more than one
active CCIE certifications including CCIE voice. Some instructor passed the
lab lately in 3:45 (yes, you read it right, 3 hours and 45 minutes).

The following are optional and will be provided in best effort basis:

Material: Lab 1 - 5. Detailed questions and solutions.

Lab: Full lab (4 x 3825, 1 x 3750G) with all modules (ESW, T1/E1, CUE,
etc.). IP addressing, port numbering and num plan are set up in such a way
that you'll feel like home when you in the lab. PSTN router to simulate
Frame-Relay switch, PSTN T1/E1 switch, backbone GateKeeper and PSTN phones.

hi Erwan,

is this H323 gateway or MGCP gatway?

if this is H323 gateway you do not need to do hairpinning,

if mgcp then you need to do hairpinning,

most likely, you are getting error message due to 'server mwa' command in voip
and pots dialpeer.

could you please post your full config of this router.

[OSL | CCIE_Voice] QoS bandwidth calculations

2011-07-21 Thread CCIEVoiceKP
I'm good with how to calculate BW from the QoS SRND, however it seems to get
a little squishy when it comes to values for cRTP and rounding the output.
For example, say I have a requirement to allow 5 g729 calls and I'm using
MLP with header compression. We know that by default CRTp should be 2
without checksum and 4 with checksum but in going through the Vol1 and Vol 2
labs and VoDs I've seen both values used with no metion of whether or not
checksum was a requirement. So if we calcualte first with cRTP of 2 bytes
we get 13 + 2 + 20 = 35 * 8 * 50 = 14000 = *14kbps* with cRTP of 4 we
get 13 + 4 + 20 = 14800 = *14.8kbps.* Now if we multiply this out by the
number of calls we get 14kbps * 5 = *70kbps* and 14.8 * 5 = *74kbps
*respectively
or do we? Because I've seen the rounding take place earlier on so we
would in essence have 15kbps * 5 = *75kbps.*

Keep in mind this is if your following the SRND. Vik and Amy recommend
using 9bytes as the L2 value for MLP as opposed to 13bytes... I realize this
is a more accurate number but do we have any official guidance as to how the
proctors are grading this? Are they using values strictly from the SRND?
How big is the window or margin of error for these calculations?

I know this sounds like splitting hairs but I've taken the lab before and
walked away with 0 points in QoS not knowing why. Thanks in advance for any
insight?

That being said:

2) is there a dual-boot option where I can boot ESX and Windows?

2011-07-21 Thread Bill Lake
Yes you should be able to dual boot, I doubt that the boot loaders would
work but you could use the BIOS controls to select the boot device. Some
systems like Dell/HP ect let you pick the boot device from a menu.

So if I was doing this, I would load windows on 1 disk, disconnect that
disk, install ESXi on a second disk, not the same SATA channel. Then I
would connect up both disk and use the BIOS to pick the OS to boot.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Memory for your VM & VMware follow up.

2011-07-21 Thread indigoboy
This seems like a doable solution. to dualboot from the bios.

In terms of quantifying the cost-benefit of going into a ESX environment,
what would you say the advantages are?

That is, in terms of speed, is it about 20% faster than a windows platform?

Just trying to put it in numbers to justify the extra work involved =)

Also, one advantage having my CUCM sit on top of windows is that I don't
need to hook up a monitor or keyboard to it.

I have it set to just boot up and run on VNC. Does ESX allow for any type of
remote desktop feature where I can bypass keyboard/mouse/monitor solution?

LOL!

3:45 can easily be done with you know all the questions & answers AHEAD of
time.

At that point, you are just typing in commands like a monkey.

Monkey see, Monkey do.

What is funny/interesting is how the plan to cover 5 labs in 8 hours.
that would require doing each lab in 1.6 hours.

Now THAT is impressive! Even for a Monkey.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Fw: MVA load issue in proctor rack

2011-07-21 Thread Adil Shaikh
hi erwan,

if your router is an H323 and you are getting inbound for Mobile Voice
Access, you need 'service mwa' command on POTS dial-peer which has
incoming-called number 3000.
you do not need the same command on voip dial-peer.

You will always need 'application' 'service mwa http://..'

Please post full config of router and let us know what have you configured
on Call Manager (including service parameters) for MVA.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Memory for your VM & VMware follow up.

2011-07-21 Thread Bill Lake
ESXi is loaded via a keyboard and mouse in this situation, after that is
complete, everything else has to be completed remotely. You first go to a
web page, get the VM client, install client and begin installing your
Virtual Machines (VM's) that is it. You might want to play with shared
resources if your system is a little low on memory but otherwise you should
be fine.

As far as performance, I find that by using some old SATA disk I had laying
around and spreading the servers out over several disk, that I can not
really even tell I am on a VM, it seems as responsive as a real server for
the most part, sometimes if I am booting another system that is on the same
HDD that will slow things down so I try to avoid that but otherwise it works
great. Much better than multiple machines in a VMware server or workstation
running in windows or OS X. The only disadvantage is there is not an OS X
client but if your doing your IE study in OS X you have to have a windows
machine to run some things anyway.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Fw: MVA load issue in proctor rack

2011-07-21 Thread Erwan Erwan
hi Adil,

My issue is not able to load Application service mva.
I load this

application
  service mwa http://10.10.210.10:8080/ccmivr/pages/IVRMainpage.vxml

and gave me the error:

*Jul 21 10:52:15.755: //-1//HIFS:/hifs_http_cb: hifs http callback: load of
http://10.10.210.10:8080/ccmivr/pages/IVRMainpage.vxml failed. Status=httpc

  http://10.10.210.10:8080/ccmivr/pages/IVRMainpage.vxml

It has nothing to do with dial-peer for for this to be able to download.

Re: [OSL | CCIE_Voice] Fw: MVA load issue in proctor rack

2011-07-21 Thread Erwan Erwan
hi Ash,

Thanks, this is very make sense. I will test in my next session.
I was able to ping from router to PUB 10.10.210.10.

I have loaded with basic image in proctor rack, should not be any ACL blocking
it,
And from their diagram it only show BR router connect thru FR to PUB.

tks

Ash

2011-07-21 Thread Rashid Khan
Hi Friends,

I am facing issue with some IP Phones, these phones are able to places any
calls
but unable to receive any incoming calls; neither internal call nor calls from
outside network. Also when I search for these phones in CallManager 4.2 search,
there status is shown is UNKNOWN rather than showing IP address of Subcriber.

Kindly help me, I am receiving too many calls from users.

Regards
