RE: URGENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [7:8061]
If each router has a built-in CSU/DSU then you don't need to configure a clock rate on the serial interface. The CSU/DSU will have a RJ-45 interface. To connect back-to-back on T-1 cross pins 1&2 with 4&5. On the T-1 Controller interface configure one for internal clocking. The other for line. This works for two routers. I'm not sure from your question what the final topology should be. If it is to be a hub and spoke with 10 routers then you need additional interfaces. If there are nine leased lines then the hub router needs nine WAN interfaces. If this is to be a Frame Relay network then you need something to emulate a Frame Switch. Do some searches on CCO. You will find exact examples of what you need. > -Original Message- > From: Ravi Varma [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] > Sent: Monday, June 11, 2001 4:31 PM > To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Subject: URGENT ! Re: URGENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [7:8061]
You can start the troubleshooting from the Physical layer onwards. Ensure you use the correct cables - crossover cable instead of back to back. Then if that if fine, then check the datalink connections. Then go higher up the stack, to see if you need to add anything in the configuration. If you are using T1 card and u want to use only 56k out of it, you might be in need of this configuration : config t controller T1 0/0 channel-group 0 timeslots 1 no shut something like that. let us know the outcome. rajesh CiscoG wrote: > Even if you accidentally configured the DTE with the Clock Rate command > instead of the DCE, or for that matter entered No Clock Rate command at all, > I don't think you would see Serial0/0 down, down. Hth? well, not really what, exactly, is a bandwidth statement going to achieve?? would you enable MultiLink-PPP by adding "bandwidth 128000" to a BRI interface? - well probably in your case Oh yeh, and use "show controllers" for determining DCE/DTE do we really have to put up with yet another "how do I connect routers back-to-back" question. Connect all the routers together? Well if the serials are all going to remote sites, connect the ethers to a switch/lan segment.. RE: URGENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! [7:8061]
Hth, well, you can't really answer that, since you didn't ask the question can you??? The bandwitdh statement is NOT necessary, but it is always "nice" to add while you're there anyway, so your routing protocols can make decisions based on it. I don't know what you're trying to say with your "in your case" quote, but please don't insult me or other people on this list. I can make mistakes too - I am human in case you were wondering. What's wrong with "Excuse me sir/madam, but I believe you made a mistake in your reply to mr/ms". I do not have my routers setup at this point because I had to move them, so I can't test it at this moment, but I am fairly sure in my argument that you can see if your interface is DTE or DCE by doing a show int. If you know this, please disregard. T-1 crossovers, 56k and ethernet crossovers are all different. I beleive its 1&2 to 4&5 for t-1 1&2 to 7&8 for DDS{56k}, CDDI, and ATM 25 and 155. Ravi, Please check the T1 controller first and make sure the line is up. You can find useful guide for T1 troubleshooting in http://www.cisco.com/warp/public/116/index.html.It has a very good flowchart for T1 troubleshooting. There some config you should notice:clocking,line-code,framing and also use cross cable. Hope this will be helpful!
