Before I had mysql-workbench-gpl package installed (I don't know whether I installed it through ubuntu software center or from mysql web page). I opended MySql workbench and closed it 15 minutes later without using it. When I closed it it created a crush report and notified me that this is not a supported ubuntu package so the report won't be sent (this is why I'm describing this part - I don't know if this realy wasn't an ubuntu package in 12.04 or if this is another bug). I had ubuntu software center opened and listed all the software that contains word workbench. I couldn't install MySQL workbench package from ubuntu software center (error message popped up during instalation) so I deleted the previous package with: sudo apt-get remove mysql-workbench-gpl I started installing MySQL Workbench and noticed that mysql-workbench-gpl is listed below so I clicked Remove button (this was already after I deleted the package with the command above). At this point this crash report popped up. All this time I haven't closed the ubuntu software center. The error that you are seeing affects a small percentage of credit card authorization services, and unfortunately, it appears that your credit card is one of those affected. This is an active bug already, bug 1043011, and I will mark this one as a duplicate of that one. Please monitor bug 1043011 for the status of a fix for this, and to add any additional info or comments that you may have. In the meantime until we get this bug fixed, and if you like, you could instead use the PayPal option for payment. Using that option you can pay with your credit card and you will bypass this issue. This allows me to copy a web or email address for contacting the vendor. However, I cannot then paste it into most X11 programs. The normal mechanism is to use a X11 atom which can then be sent to any other program, usually with a middle-click. It's not exactly a clipboard as such, since it doesn't store a copy of the data... but it is the traditional mechanism used in X11 programs. In USC, the GTK clipboard seems to be used instead, exclusively, which means only programs written in specific toolkits can be pasted into. Most GTK programs I've seen support both the X11 method and the GTK method, but USC lacks the X11 support. I have some sample pygtk code for a working example, if it helps, but I wrote it in ~2000 or so and the API may have changed since then. I'm using USC 5.2.5 in Precise amd64. I was presented with a screen asking me to login to Launchpad. I chose cancel instead of logging in to LP. Expected results: I expected to see either the screen I was looking at (the app I was looking at previously) or the home page of SW center Actual results: The main SW center UI was cleared out, no longer showing the screen for my app. Instead it's a blank, grey panel with the large spinning 'wait' cursor (see attached screenshot). It's stuck in this state, and has been for a couple minutes. The app clearly isn't going to do anything on its own, despite the wait cursor. To get SW center out of this state I clicked the Installed button then the All Software button. The UI is now back to normal. The UI was never blocked, it just wasn't doing anything. This would require implementation on both server and client. The server side needs to provide an api for client to call when recommendation caused user to install an aplication. The client side needs to track which recommendation (if any) was displayed before user installed given application. This requires tracking user behaviour, but it's part of getting feedback of the quality of recommendations we are computing. [Desktop-packages] [Bug 1043152] Re: Strip whitespace from the Package name(s): field in the exhibits editor
** Changed in: software-center (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Michael Vogt (mvo) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Desktop Packages, which is subscribed to software-center in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1043152 Title: Strip whitespace from the Package name(s): field in the exhibits editor Status in Developer registration portal: New Status in “software-center” package in Ubuntu: In Progress Bug description: I set up and published an exhibit for multiple packages yesterday, and had some fun this morning debugging why the exhibit was not visible on the client. It turns out that (apart from some other issues on the client, discussed with mvo on IRC) the client cannot display multiple packages for download if there is whitespace between the comma-separated list. That is: * 'lightread, fogger, picsaw' - does not work * 'lightread, fogger, picsaw' - does work In order to be a bit more robust, I think the server should strip the whitespace before publishing the JSON for the client to consume. Alternatively, the client could also do the stripping, so I'm adding a task for it too.
