There are languages that do require to transcribe all foreign names
because a language is not using a Latin script, it is using right to
left writing, or simply because a language grammar says to do so.

When we have such generic product names, users not fluent in English
would not have a clue what this extension is doing.

At the same time users fluent in English would instantly understand that
this is something about to make presentations smaller.

This is not fair to our users as it does not transfer associations
present in the English language to the localized software. I see this
practice against the goals of the localization project.

For the reference, other software vendors do translate such generic
names (like Notepad, Wordpad, Paint, Control panel...) keeping users
happy.

[l10n-dev] l10n and nlc wiki pages

2010-08-12 Thread Goran Rakic
Hi all,

I made few small updates to our wiki in an effort to separate UI/Help
translation documentation from docs on other localization tasks,
localized release QA and NLC topics like managing a native language web
site or documentation.

This will leave space to add more info and make links to other pages
describing extras localization (autocorrect data, dictionaries,
hyphenation patterns, templates and other non-messages resources).

It will also help to remove duplicate and obsolete content.

For a start, I made changes to Translation:General Information page:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Translation:General_Information
separating pootle and non-pootle workflow and refreshing documentation
on SDF/POT/PO handling.

There are still some info on release testing I would like to move into
some other page.

Then I removed duplicate info from NLC:New Translators Start here page:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/NLC:New_Translators_Start_here

I believe this wiki page can be a gateway to all other content together
with a famous NLC:ReleaseChecklist wiki page:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/NLC:ReleaseChecklist

As a next step I will move some info from
http://l10n.openoffice.org/localization/ to the mentioned wiki pages.

Can someone with write permissions add HTTP meta redirection from
http://l10n.openoffice.org/languages.html to
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Languages killing deprecated
table on the web site? The notice is already there but I believe that 3
years after the notice obsolete content should be deleted now.

Martin, would you like to start a new wiki article on this topic?

I will join and post some info I have from guides like "Translation of
the OpenOffice.org Extras How-To Manual" by Volker Ahrendt and Ilko
Höpping [1], Translate Toolkit OpenOffice.org localization Guide [2] and
famous KhmerOS localization guides written by Javier Sola [3].

We could than work on this item by item to see if documentation is still
valid and are there any recent updates to the sources.

On some other items requiring external translations we already have wiki
articles like:
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/HowTo_localize_qatesttool_environment
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/SL/Using_TeX_hyphenation_patterns_in_OpenOffice.org
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/HSQLDB_Localization
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Extensions/website/Translating
http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/Templates/website/translation

Still information on many others mentioned in the (obsolete?) guides is
missing. I see your comment about having a clear list of items that need
updating between releases as very important.

My guess is that with translation delivery deadline this close this
discussion does not get necessary attention from other native lang
teams, but hopefully this will change after the translation handover.

Goran

[l10n-dev] Issue 111003: glibc locale modifiers

2010-07-28 Thread Goran Rakic
I would like to raise attention of Issue 111003 that ads a mapping between
OOo language codes and glibc locale modifiers under Unixes for few
locales: Serbian Latin, Bosnian Cyrillic, Azeri Cyrillic and Uzbek
Cyrillic.

It is integrated in DEV300_m84 (so AFAIK it should be available in all

locale/document language but I can not get it working to select UI
localization, as stated in the issue comment.

Azeri, Bosnian and Uzbek teams may want to test and announce this feature
inside local communities.

I use plain old text editor with PO syntax coloring. Poedit and Virtaal[1]
are some of the tools I see others use. Lokalize is also good option if
you can run KDE applications on your OS.

You can always count translated messages. If you want to know how many
were translated in the past, you need to do before and after count. If you
manage your PO file in version control system you can run the pocount tool
on the latest and previous revision.

> 3. Can I access po files via svn?
> -> http://wiki.services.openoffice.org/wiki/OOo_and_Subversion

OpenOffice.org does not use SVN anymore, all sources are in the Mercurial
repository[2]. But OpenOffice.org does not use PO files internally for
message handling. You can extract SDF file from OpenOffice.org sources and
then convert it to PO. There are some recent changes so I do not if I am
right, but you will need complete source tree to run localize script and
extract SDF file.

This is why OOo developers do publish extracted SDF and you can get it
from extended folder on some mirrors [3]. You can then use oo2po tool from
translate-toolkit (oo2po -P -i en-US.sdf -o pot) to generate set of POT
files.

In the past POTs where also published by developers but AFAIK this does
not happen anymore.

If your team is using Pootle at sunvirtuallab.com for translating,
OpenOffice.org release engineers would merge your translations with new
templates and (luckily) you do not get to worry about it. You should make
backups as mistakes happens.

If I clear all duplicates in my compendium I have 100% fuzzy match with
PO too. Fuzzy match is not the same as moving the exact translation
string. Moving translation string does not require any review.

This is a missing feature in oo2po. Context is passed and visible in a
comment, not in a gettext msgctxt field where other tools expects it.

I can do the same with PO file. Maybe the semantics is not standardized
like in xliff but xliff is overcomplicated. I want to be able to grep
and sed my translations, I can not do that with xliff.

Hi Friedel, all

Thank you for your comments. I do not know a lot about translate toolkit
source, so please forgive me if I say something wrong here. What I would
like it to have your feedback on some ideas and this may lead to a
better work flow or better tools. I should say that I am very happy to
be able to use Translate toolkit. It helps me a lot to create better
translations for OpenOffice.org, as I am sure it helps many others.

What I see as missing from pomigrate2 is that PO catalogs should be
actually read on migration, relaying just on filenames is not reliable
enough.

I think about OpenOffice.org as a single gettext domain. This split to
many PO files that we have is to help us managing translations but these
files are not different domains. In KDE or GNOME you do not get string
moved from the Minesweeper game to the email client between releases
while in OpenOffice.org it is easy to have string moved between modules.

Using pomigrate2 with compendium option enabled is close to what I would
like and I can usually get better result when using it but using
compendium with the current from POT files as generated by oo2po is not
the same as moving as messages are merged together. I want to apply
compendium after the messages are moved to get fuzzy matching against
new strings, but I would like to have existing translation simply moved
between files.

As pomigrate2 relies on filenames it also can give a huge bloat. When
testautmation was included in the m83 SDF by mistake we got a new UI.po
file in the testautomation directory with 3 new messages. pomigrate2
found a large UI.po file in the source three and copied hundreds of
messages kept as deprecated translation memory. Three new messages where
actually left as untranslated. :)

= Contexts everywhere =

First I would like if oo2po could provide msgctxt field to all messages
and not just for duplicates inside a single PO file. Resource IDs that
could be found in the SDF file are exactly what gettext context field is
designed for.

I know that this will create a lot of repetitive messages but we all
learned long ago that every string should have its context. Different
languages make distinction between noun and verb or have rich morphology
and require different word forms for different adjective case etc.

Translators can always auto apply translation memory to quickly
translate same messages with different contexts and poconflicts can be
used to check if message is translated differently while it should not
be. I believe there is no any drawback from using contexts with all
messages.

= Merge reading all catalogs =

Having msgctxt/msgid, a smarter pomigrate2 could just look for a exact
match when merging translations with new POT files. This could be
implemented either by building a compendium and asking msgmerge to do it
or having a smarter dedicated code traversing every message from new
templates.

Removed messages could be kept as deprecated translation memory in the
most probably file (same if it exists, in the file where most of the
messages are moved or, finally, in the file with the most similar
filename).

Now if for any reason resource ID changes we will always have good fuzzy
matching working on that string.

I did not do any tests but I strongly believe this will keep all
translations when messages are moved and resource ID stay the same and
still provide a good fuzzy match if resource ID changes.

= Some unrelated comments =

I wrote a wrapper around msgmerge to add --previous flag when called
from pomigrate2. That is very useful option of msgmerge when reviewing
fuzzy matches. I like even more ediff output style as provided by
Pology[1] (run posieve diff-previous lang.po after msgmerge --previous)
but that can be handled later by editors.

When using version control (we are using Subversion repository for
Serbian OpenOffice.org translations) pomerge from translate toolkit
makes a mess. It outputs all messages, not just a modified ones making
version control diffs hard to comprehend.

I like the speed of pogrep and the power of pofilter but for merging
correction back I use Pology and posieve with merge_corr_tree sieve.
(with pogrep output in ui-check run posieve merge_corr_tree ui
-spathdelta:ui:ui-check to merge fixes).

It goes over all catalogs in the ui three, looking for same in the
ui-check three and updates only modified messages keeping very nice
diffs. It would be great to have pomerge doing the same.

I will second that, but for what I know the problem here is in our PO
toolkit, not in the process how developers work. Things can easily
improve by creating a new tool for merging POTs created from SDF file
with old PO files that could cope up with code moving from one module
into another.

If there are no voices against it I can work on this during July so we
can test and improve it later and make it ready for next release cycle.

This is same as what I got when converting SDF to POT and using
pomigrate2 to merge with old translations.

Let us look at macropg.src#RID_SVXSTR_EVENT_SAVEDOC.string.text. Before
it was in svx/source/dialog.po and now it is in cui/source/customize.po

When running [pomigrate2 -C -F ui uinew pot] some of these messages
where not kept as translated, while some are. I have 158 translated and
27 not translated in cui/source/customize.po after the merge.

I am thinking about writing a replacement for pomigrate2 that will keep
track of reference ids when merging. Currently as a workaround I am
using msgmerge to manually re-merge old translations when situation like
this happens.

Hi Ivo,

I have created my POT files from full_DEV300_m83_2010-06-17_14-20-26.sdf
downloaded from [1] and migrationanalysis is in there. Is there some
other SDF file I should use?

Thanks,

[l10n-dev] Migration Analysis

2010-06-20 Thread Goran Rakic
As far as I remember translation of Migration Analysis module was left
optional in 3.2 release and it is not translated into Serbian.

Are there any updates for 3.3, will localized extension be released or
is it still optional for native-lang teams to translate it?

Kind regards,
Goran

Hi Thorsten, all

CWS jl145 integrated in m74 fixed an issue with non-latin digital
signatues: http://qa.openoffice.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=97653

I already did a test with digital signature issued on a Serbian national

Ok, I have modified script to provide empty message in the POT file.

It should work better now than with --placeholder-- tag, especially with
machine translation and translation memory software tools that we are
using.

New POT files are uploaded. As Joost deleted invalid test for 3.3 POT is
without that Russian message Serg was talking about.

Thanks for raising this issue.

No.

If you do not want to write comment for test 110078, just leave
placeholders empty and po2tcm script will ignore this message.

Some teams have additional comments where original test does not have
comment so I need to include these messages in POT for merge script to
work and not to lose data when converting TCM->PO->TCM.

Hi Rafaella, all.

Updated POT files are available at http://goranrakic.com/tmp/tcmpot/

It is also possible to merge existing translations using included merge
script. Italian tests as merged PO files are available from
http://goranrakic.com/tmp/tcmpot/it/ There are 1079 untranslated and 104
words marked fuzzy in Italian translation out of about 28000 words in
all TCM tests.

I would like to provide merges for other languages on request as soon as
time permits me or it would be even better if we can integrate this into
our l10n process.

The Python script I used to create them can be downloaded from
http://goranrakic.com/tmp/tcm2po.tar.gz and PDF manual is included.

I have added some modifications recently:
  1) PO context field is used to tag test parts instead of source field
  2) If translated test has "ENGLISH IS UPDATED" string the message will
be marked as fuzzy in the merged PO file.

On TCM tests for 3.3, I have a small bug report about test #110128, it
looks like it is in Russian while other tests are in English. Can you
check what went wrong here? http://dodaj.rs/f/w/mx/43dtaHc0/testsh.png

[l10n-dev] Typing Cyrillic in the exported PDF form fails

2010-03-30 Thread Goran Rakic
I have received a complaint from one of our community members that it is
not possible to type Cyrillic in the PDF form exported from
OpenOffice.org.

PDF readers like Evince ignores everything that is not ASCII, and others
like FoxIt or Adobe Acrobat Reader display garbage for Cyrillic entry
while allows Serbian Latin (č ć š...).

This is a major bug as PDF forms can not be saved or printed correctly.

Typing Cyrillic inside OpenOffice.org works as expected so it looks like
the bug is in the PDF export code not setting some encoding property.

What component should I fill a bug against and is this issue already
reported in the past?

I reproduced it using both 3.2.0 and 3.0 stable releases, with Serbian
Cyrillic localization.

Can other teams confirm are other locales affected as well?

2010-03-26 Thread Goran Rakic
Hi,

Where I can get updated POT files or en-US.sdf file required for teams
not using Pootle?

I can not find POT at extended/ooomisc/POT/ or at Pavel's server.

I can find invalid SDF OOO320_m14_2010-03-26_16-35-13.sdf.bz2 at the
extended mirror network in extended/ooomisc/sdf/ but it is just an empty
file, same as OOO320_m13.

I would need these ASAP so we can deliver our translations on time. I
can get the OOO320_m14 tag from the hg repository, but I would need
instructions how to create en-US.sdf from the templates around the
source tree.

But I have just downloaded and installed sr, sh and de language packs on

Is it possible to add same dictionaries as in full install sets to the

Hi Eike,

Is there something we in Serbian native-lang should do about switching
to RFC4646 in ODF 1.2 and is this related to language code used in
OpenOffice.org localization?

Currently usage of "sh" for Serbian Latin is suboptimal but it is the
only working solution. With full support for RFC4646 in OpenOffice.org
we would be able to have sr and sr-Latn, and also support for Serbian
Ijekavian dialect[1] both on document language level and UI
localization.

How this can be mapped to glibc locales, where sr, s...@latin and
unofficial s...@ije (optional country code RS) are used so users can get
correct localization based on environment settings?

Re: [l10n-dev] TCM test translation

Hi Sophie,

We are following "Translate on first testing" policy and managed to get
~25% of all tests in TCM translated. I believe that this will make
testing easier and enable as many people as possible to participate in
the regular testing process.

Your "selling" technique is innovative, thank you for sharing this with
us. We will see if we can copy it for the next release.

I would like to know if it is possible to upload translated tests all at
once? I can download all tests from TCM and convert them to PO files so
they can be translated in our usual translation work flow but it is
really hard to upload test by test back into TCM. Having to do that
twice, first for Serbian Cyrillic and then for Serbian Latin does not
help either ;)

Kind regards,
Goran

I would assume the wast majority of downloads was for en-US versions,
following by de, fr, ja, it, es... In past two months, we had only about
~5000 downloads of 3.0.1 for sr and sh combined.

I would have nothing against making policy that only popular languages
will be included on the mirror network and others will be distributed by
few extra-large central mirrors (so auto-update can work) and by local
mirrors distributing only some languages (to distribute load).

On the other hand, I can perfectly understand current situation where
there are no policy and no tools that can help us accomplish that but
that should not stop us from thinking about it.

Is it possible to have full install sets for small languages (meaning
low download count) like Serbian Cyrillic and Latin off the mirror
network?

Then it will be in the hands of NL leads to organize hosting and
distribution for those install sets.

In my opinion this will solve "More Platforms + Auto Update" and provide

@offtopic:

Hi Andre,

You would be right if we don't rename country name (SCG -> RS) that
often and don't have both Cyrillic and Latin versions, the later one
living inside OOo under unofficial language code "sh" as OOo don't
support glibc locale modifiers :)

Last time I checked with WinXP it did not work at all. I should probably
do some testing on Vista again to see if things are better now.

On GNU/Linux Serbian Cyrillic (sr) will be enabled for both sr_RS
(Cyrillic) and sr...@latin (Latin). To use Serbian Latin (sh) one have
to enable it by hand in OOo Preferences or to change locale variable
before starting OOo.

Speaking in the name of Serbian OOo community:

- We are able to localize UI and keep it at 100% for several releases now
for both Serbian Cyrillic (sr) and Serbian Latin (sh), making our own
builds for Microsoft Windows and deb packages for GNU/Linux and
distributing them from http://sr.openoffice.org/preuzmi.html (where
http://download.openoffice.org/other.html is linking to this page)

- We are working on help localization but we are far behind something like
even 50% as there are other things we need to do first (spell checking,
better hyphenation patterns, thesaurus, extensions and templates site
localization, iz#97653 - Cyrillic support in digital signatures etc.)

In the current process here are the issues we are facing with:

Having just a language pack mean that users have to ***install English
version first*** (navigating through Installation wizard on English
language even we did translate all these messages), then install language
pack, start OOo on English, go to Preferences, change UI language and
restart OOo.

I believe this is ***unnecessary complicated***. Some users will try to do
it and fail or may start using English release. This is why we will
continue to make our or kindly ask Pavel Janik and Maho Nakata to create
full installation sets for sr and sh.

But we would like to have ***auto-update feature inside our builds***. I
got an impression that this is only possible with official builds. If I am
wrong, I would like to know how can I enable this when compiling OOo for
Microsoft Windows or GNU/Linux.

Another issue is ***visibility of our builds***. Over 50% of
sr.openoffice.org visitors come from www.openoffice.org so it is very
important for us to have download.js script and
http://download.openoffice.org/other.html page updated. In the past Frank
Mau kindly did this by request but even months after 3.0.1 release I can
not get this page updated. Some policy on this will be good to have.

To conclude, having an official build for us will mean:

More platforms + Better visibility + Auto Update

Any other solution that can lead us to there will work great for us.
Hosting is the least problem for us and we don't care much if Serbian
builds are present on the mirror network or not.

Hi Marcus,

That's not news we were hoping for.

Is it possible for us to have 3.1 release for Windows, Mac OSX and
Solaris with support for auto update that we can distribute on our
servers?

If nothing else is possible then making custom builds, I can only build
for Windows as before (which takes ~12-16h on my home computer) but I
don't know how to enable auto update feature. Any help about that would
be appreciated.

0% committed, about 16% in local SVN repository.
UI is at 100% so installation is fully localized.

Not providing localized installation sets will require from users to
install software on English before applying language packs or to use our
custom build version without all features.

Now there is enough space on bouncer mirrors I don't see why we can't
make install sets for every language with UI > 80%.

We can provide space for hosting a mirror if necessary.

But why is that so?

Having official install set for Serbian will be at the great benefit of
our users (auto update, user feedback program, etc.).

I was really looking forward to have all our patches (87665, 86765,
86142, 98446, 98445, 96422) and NSIS-Unicode support finally all
integrated in 3.1 so we can stop making our own unofficial builds for

In Serbian translation we are ignoring "on/off" and "toggle". Even in
English those are just stop words that do no carry new information to the
users.

For example, messages like "Toggle Line Numbers" or "On/Off Line Numbers"
usually appear next to some checkbox or on the toggle button so
information about double-state is reflected by the GUI and we can
translate it just as "Line Numbers" (in Serbian Latin "Brojevi redova",
full translation would be "Uključi ili isključi brojeve redova" which is
unusable).

On the contrary, "Enable watch" can be translated as is (in Serbian Latin
"Uključi nadgledanje").

Hi Ain,

For every milestone I get PO files and SDF template from Pavel's FTP
server[1] and create new SDF file using po2oo from translation toolkit.

This is what I have for OOO310_m2:
svtools source\items1\cstitem.src 0 string STR_CSTAT_NEVER_UPD
13691 en-US No update has occurred
2002-02-02 02:02:02

13691 sr Није било освежавања

In OOO310_m4 I have:
svtools source\items1\cstitem.src 0 string STR_CSTAT_NEVER_UPD
38235 en-US No update has occurred
2002-02-02 02:02:02

38235 sr Није било освежавања
2002-02-02 02:02:02

As you can see, the value in column 6 is changed while both source and
translation is the same. I have no idea what this column stands for but
obviously it should be ignored in SDF diff.

Also, as Rafaella said, SDF diff should include both source and
translation as valid SDF file. Using diff command will create patch with
changed lines only, not a valid SDF file.

Rafaella, thanks for comments. I do know about this wiki page but it
says nothing about SDF diff files. I am already checking files with
gsicheck before delivering.

Andras, translationfix.pl seems to be what I am looking for. Thanks.

Hi Ivo, Rafaella,

We already do have our own builds with updated translations for testing.
I just want to be sure that updates added on Feb 24 will be integrated
for 3.1 release. Franks added "Imported into the database" comment and I
expected something like "Fixed in CWS ..." so I don't know if everything
is ok :)

1) Is it ok for you if I continue to "reuse" i98445 and i98446 reports
for all updates in OOO310 tree or should I open new reports for every
translation update?

2) Rafaella asked translators to send diffs with comments in another
thread. Do I have to make diffs if we are not using Pootle for
translation, and if yes, how diffs should look like?

Thanks,

Re: [l10n-dev] creating localized langpacks for 0penOffice

2009-02-03 Thread Goran Rakic
You can not build language packs from PO files.

You have to get full OpenOffice.org source tree, setup all dependencies
for your target platform and compile OpenOffice.org from source. There
are some pages on OOoWiki that will help you to do so. Then you can
apply SDF file with translations (generated from PO files using po2oo)
to source tree and create language packs for target release using dmake
tool.

Please note that this is not either quick or easy to do.

The best thing you can do is to submit you translations to
OpenOffice.org community and wait for Pavel (if he is still doing this,
sorry if I am wrong) to create language packs for you.

pofilter is very nice tool but it can create false positives. Still, you
should check its output and fix all real errors you can find.

Hi,

Are you able to compile localized OOo release?

If you are, to create language packs just go to "instsetoo_native/util"
directory inside build tree and run "dmake ooolanguagepack".

This will create language packs in your target format for every locale
passed to configure script with "--with-lang" argument.

Congratulation! It is a great achievement! I can only hope that Serbian
team will follow your success (but we are much closer to announce 100%
ui then 100% ui+help, at least for now).

I want to be able to transliterate text from Serbian Cyrillic to Serbian
Latin inside Writer, in the same way as recode-sr-latin (from GNU
gettext) is doing for plain text.

Currently, we have extension for this called OOoTranslit
(http://oootranslit.info) but having this functionality embedded into
OpenOffice.org seems much better solution.

I guess that I will need more help with that :)

I'm still failing miserably at first step (creating and registering a
service)...

Ah, sorry for not doing that first time.

This patch is not working, as serbianCyrillicToLatin.cxx has wrong fold
method prototype, and as I don't need rtl support I don't know what
prototype to use.

Any help in getting this to work is highly appreciated...

[l10n-dev] Adding new tranliteration method

2008-02-19 Thread Goran Rakic
Is there some docs describing how to add new transliteration method?

I need to have one-to-one transliteration with some simple
folding/decomposing (like "љ" to "lj" etc) so I tried to create
i18npool/source/transliteration/serbianCyrillicToLatin.cxx and register
it and define a class using macro.

I have defined my transliteration table as:

  OneToOneMappingTable_t serbiancyrillic2latin[] = {
MAKE_PAIR(0x0402, 0xC490 ), // 'Đ'
MAKE_PAIR(0x0408, 'J' ),
...
  };

And class constructor as:

  serbianCyrillicToLatin::serbianCyrillicToLatin()
  {
static oneToOneMapping _table(serbiancyrillic2latin,
sizeof(serbiancyrillic2latin));
func = (TransFunc) 0;
table = &_table;
transliterationName = "serbianCyrillicToLatin";
implementationName =
"com.sun.star.i18n.Transliteration.SERBIANCYRILLIC_LATIN";
  }

Now my question: What is folding function prototype? I tried using:

  sal_Unicode SAL_CALL
  serbianCyrillicToLatin::folding(const sal_Unicode & inStr, sal_Int32 startPos,
   sal_Int32 nCount, Sequence< sal_Int32 > & offset) throw
(RuntimeException)

But that is not working.

What else I need to do in order to get transliteration working inside
localized build? How this is going to be used from user interface?

Goran Rakic

PS - What is a status of

The difference is in how duplicates are handled. What exactly is the
issue you are hitting?

If you don't get positive matching while migrating translation, you can
try to use msgmerge with pomigrate2 as described on translate wiki.

[l10n-dev] Basic overview of PO files and modules

2008-02-13 Thread Goran Rakic
Can someone provide me with a very basic overview of PO files, please? I
would like to know where to look for major components (calc=sc,
writer=sw, etc) and what are other modules for.

What is the best practice for interpreting resource ids like
RID_STR_ACC_NAME_BROWSEBUTTON.string.text? Last part is about widget
type, but I would like some explanations about first part.

What is the easiest way to locate strings from PO file in real user
interface? If I open some PO file and want to check quickly what's it
about, how can I do that?

It would be great if there is already a document describing this. Having
such information will be very useful for our team organization :)

Bye,
Goran

[l10n-dev] How to update localized build to new milestone

2008-01-28 Thread Goran Rakic
Hi,

I made localized build of OOH680_m4 for testing new Serbian localization
and now I want to update it to m5.

Can I reuse previous source checkout and build cache?
(I was using ccache for building inside checkout dir)

I tried running "cvs -z3 update -r OOH680_m5" but it has no output, just
waiting. When I run it with -t (for debug trace), it prints out " ->
Sending file `casefolding.cxx' to server" for every file in the checkout
and that looks very slow.

Is this the right command I should use or do I need to do a clean
checkout every time?

Thanks,
Goran
