Re: [Dx4win] Problem saving new QSOs

2024-05-02 Thread k7acz
I would suggest going to FILE>SAVE AS and see what opens showing where your dxl
file is stored. It should show your SAVE file. I once saved my dxl file to a
thumb drive for a safety back up before going on a trip. After my trip I had a
situation like yours because the program was looking for the thumb drive. Once
I selected my SAVE drive the program was able to find my dxl file and opened
normally.

Hi Dick,

It sounds like a file permission problem. Try using "Save As" and give the
file a different name.

[Dx4win] Problem saving new QSOs

2024-04-24 Thread Dick Grolleman
Hello All,

Today a problem occurred not seen before. I do work a new station and log it as
always. But doing a log save it gives a fault. It seems it can not write a new
log file in the save directory. Access denied.
What goes wrong here?

DX4Win comes up with the message An error occurred in the application.
Restarting does not solve it, and restarting the computer does not solve it.

Any suggestions?

Re: [Dx4win] Problem since upgrade to W10/W11

2023-03-09 Thread David Gould

Hi Guy,

Thanks for the explanation and suggestions.  I have re-booted the
computer, started Win4Yaesu and then tried to start DX4Win.   No change
in the response.  I still get the error boxes which I have to close and
then DX4Win starts as normal.

By playing around I have found a solution.  My virtual COM port pair was
20/21. The set-up video said it didn't matter which of the pair was used
for the application.  I had it set for COM20, for a trial I changed it
to COM21 and that has got rid of the problem.

That is one more niggle removed.  Thanks.

I use Win4Icom and Com-0-Com also even via remote.
DX4WIN is based on delphi and needs exclusive serial port(s)
Startup Win4Yaesu with the radio connected and make sure the setup is perfect.
Make two pairs of Com-0-Com
The 1st pair should be for DX4WIN at max 38400 Baud even if your radio can go
higher.
Be sure that the rigdriver in dx4win has the same baudrate, if not then change
it.
The 2nd pair should be for WSJT-X also at max 38400 Baud.
If for any reason wsjtx build in rigdrivers are not perfect use omnirig v1.18
(this one works perfect newer have also glitches on some computers)
Start
WIN4YAESU
Wait until all is ready
Start
DX4WIN
If radio is connected
Then
Start
WSJT-X
Shutdown in reverse order
Can be setup in WIN4YAESU

Second option is if your radio has USB and also a SERIAL port
To setup the radio with via serial port to DX4WIN, but make sure
You use FTDI based USB to serial cable if no serial port is available
Most of the other usb2serial is crap.

[Dx4win] Problem with controlling an Orion II

2023-03-07 Thread Ernie

I have an O II that has worked great for years with DX4WIN.  I recently
had to reload it and now i cant get it to work.  The same setup works
with N1MM logger.  I'm using the same settings in both soft wares.

baud 57600

bits 8

stop bits 1

polling 5000

max tries 6

dtr on

rts on I have tried all combinations of DTR and RTS

The Orion_x driver does not work at all while the Orion driver seems
slow and will not change modes.  I'm using a serial to usb converter
cable.  Anybody have any ideas?

2022-10-16 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
Hi Folks,

I was out of the country from 20-Sep through 14-Oct. I returned home
late Friday night.

It looks like the last data file updates were on 17-Sep. I decided to
give my development computer a vacation as well, which is why the
updates did not happen automatically. I'll see if I can push one out
manually sometime today. For future reference, I need to remember to
keep this computer running when I am away, which I have usually done
in the past.

There will be a new country file on Sunday 16-Oct. I was hoping to
release one on Saturday but I had a few distractions.

Re: [Dx4win] problem

2020-11-12 Thread Courtney Judd
hi Wayne I have all the latest firmware/router microHam stuff ok but I
noticed in the router software that the com port 5 (radio freq/mode)
shows (open 4800 8n1) same in both dx4win and microHam but I see
nowhere in dx4win or microham, or radio (FTdx5000) to set it to 8n2
I have to hit F9 when first opening the log ( I think that should be
user selectable) and it goes directly to the rig freq/mode as it should.
In dx4win.. preferences.. radio max tries was set to 2 but I
bumped that up to 10... hope that was the right way to move! so far so
good but Zoran WA7AA also suggested running a brouser video might be
also affecting it. I am running WIN 10 , 2 monitors with Email program
and Chrome also running along side DX4WIN. All this workee fine until 2
days ago. thanks I sure do appreciate all the thoughts! 73's Cort K4WI

Hi Cort,

Which radio are you using? You may want to check the virtual port
drivers from the microham to make sure windows has not done one of
it's updates on them. If it's a Yaesu radio check the stop bits
(should be 2) and RTS setting in the radio as well as the software.

With 6 tries DX4W may not be connecting right from the git go. Once
DX4W is up if you push F9 in DX4W does the computer read the frequency
from the radio right away?

I no longer use a microham but have in the past. I am using the FT991a
and FTdx5000 with DX4Win with no issues. I know microsoft has updated
some prolific drivers and I have had trouble with them and had to
revert to the original driver.

Re: [Dx4win] problem

2020-11-12 Thread WA7AA
I have a similar problem to yours and here are the limited results of my
troubleshooting, for what it's worth:

A few years ago, out of the blue and after years of using the same
station setup, I began having radio time-outs while using DX4Win. I
eventually traced the problem and was able to consistently reproduce it
by playing any video heavy content in my web browser (Firefox). Browsing
normal page content that does not require heavy use of the video card
does not cause time-outs. I can't pinpoint the date when this started
happening, so I have no idea whether it was caused by video card driver
updates, automatic Windows resources change, DX4Win version change or
whatever else.
However, a similar thing occurs while using N1MM+ with a slight but
important difference: in this case, I get error messages on the N1MM+
status bar saying "Radio sent invalid CAT data", but there is no radio
comms loss, i.e. it still reads frequencies and talks to my radio.
I don't know if this applies to your scenario. I simply got used to
living with this and I make sure I don't watch video content while
leaving DX4Win in the Real Time Entry mode. I suspect something
somewhere in the Windows video settings interferes with the COM port
setup, but I can't be bothered to go deep diving in there.
I attempted to change DX4Win radio polling to make it the same as N1MM+
without success.

I hope this helps before you go crazy reinstalling all kinds of software.

Zoran WA7AA

thanks Larry, yes, that is the way I always start up in the
morning computer on first... loads up and running, then I turn on
the radio and out board items, then open either DX4WIN or Writelog
shut down the opposite nite time. When I get a time out event, if
I close DX4WIN and re-open all works for a while but eventually it
times out. Wierd part is Writelog, microHam router, radio/amp and
computer no problem. Thinking about doing a re-install of DX4WIN 9.0.9
but I always get extremely nervous when messing around with
software usually a cussing fit going to happen somewhere then

Re: [Dx4win] problem

2020-11-12 Thread Courtney Judd
hey Mike, mine was set at 6 to I bumped it up to 10... DTR HIGH not
checked, RTS HIGH checked. The microHam router sets the ports for the
software to talk with the computer and radio both with DX4WIN and
Writelog ports are set for radio freq and mode and also for CW
sending and RTTY thru MMTTY... this all worked perfectly up until a
couple of days ago usually I blame WIN 10 updates for any strange
happenings but haven't had one of those for a couple of weeks! Thanks

Hello Courtney,

You might try increasing the number of tries before dx4win times out:
File> Preferences > Radio: Max Tries=? I just looked and mine is set at 2,
which is probably the default. That seems pretty low. Also, is the
computer talking to dx4win through the Microham router? Could that be part
of the problem? I never had any Microham stuff so don't know how they
work,

but think one of their guys reads this list and may be able to comment.

[Dx4win] problem

2020-11-12 Thread Courtney Judd
New problem has shown up with DX4WIN 9.0.9.1259 that has me scratching
my head. After opening the program everything is normal for a while but
then I get a message that radio has timed out and interface is
dis-abled. Which means the logging program no longer switches bands and
modes when it is supposed to follow the radio. Seems to be specific to
DX4WIN as the microHam keyer 2 shows it still follows the radio as well
as the KPA1500 amp follows the radio. I opened Writelog and it acts
normal so I am thinking something is wrong in the DX4WIN program. What
do you all suggest that I should pursue to fix this? Thanks and 73's

Re: [Dx4win] PROBLEM WITH DX4Win and MMTTY (and coincidentally with PSK31)

2020-10-16 Thread kr6c
Good Morning,

The lack of transmit almost sounds like the proper comm port, or settings
are not correct. I have occasionally had problems after Microsoft pushed
their updates and need to go and check/reset settings.

If you can actually hear the RTTY signals, have it centered properly on the
MMTTY screen, and it prints gibberish, make sure you are on the right
sideband. I also don't know if you are using FSK or AFSK, and keyline or
VOX activation.

I have to use EXTFSK 1.06 program as the MMTTY/PSK keying source on my
FT-1000MP and run FSK. I use COM7, FSK output=TXD and PTT=RTS. Once you
have EXTFSK loaded you can select it in MMTTY as the com source. This has
worked well for me.

I too much prefer RTTY/PSK and some other digital modes with FLDIGI as the
lack of human in the loop with FT8 type modes does not give me a thrill. I
also like to hear the RTTY/PSK signal and listening to FT8 reminds me of the
first day of band class, learning how to play the flute!

Hope this helps

Hi I hope there is some one on here who can advise me? I am running DX4Win
ver 9.0.9.1259.

I recently had a problem with the SOUND setup in my W10 PC and could not
operate digi modes. That seems to now be resolved as I can now operate
WSJT-X (not that I really want to) and RTTY directly to the MMTTY program.
This had been working faultlessly for the past three years plus until it
suddenly stopped at the beginning of Sept.

After some difficulty and assistance we have got it working. However if I
try to operate using the interface from DX4Win the MMTTY windows appear and
there is noise on the screen printing rubbish. I cannot find any FSK
signals, as everyone is on FT8! Nevertheless as I get rubbish on the screen
I assume that it would print out serious copy if there were any. The problem
that I have found is that I cannot TX. If I try to send RYs the two tones
appear on the screen but the rig does not go to TX.

Coincidentally I tried the PSK module inside DX4Win that receives and
decodes PSK but will not go into TX.

I assume there is a common setting that I have not ticked or something? I
have looked at the help files but they don't.

[Dx4win] Problem solved Interface - radio

2020-02-12 Thread Luc
Problem solved.
I use a Kenwood TS-940S connected to a Kenwood IF-232C Interface through a
USB-SERIAL controller that functions as Prolific.

The fact is that every time Win 10 is updated, communication between the
radio through the controller stops working, giving the famous Code 10 error
or simply indicates that it does not recognize the port.

Every time windows is updated, I have to reinstall the driver, the version
that works 3.3.2.102.

It is installed through an executable called PL2303_64bit_installer.exe

I comment in case any colleague has this same problem, which can solve it.

NOTE:
What I have not achieved, is to tell windows 10 that every time it is
updated, respect this driver and do not install the last one.

[Dx4win] problem solved

2020-02-12 Thread Courtney Judd
I finally got my mmtty/rtty problem sorted out this morning all thanks
to the great help from Joe W4TV who gave me many pointers and areas to
look at. Turned out to be very simple opening the Keying Setup and
changing that port to PTT Control and RTS fixed the problem. Now I wish
I knew how it got that way to start with. Up until last Friday
everything worked normally but then WIN10 did an update and I also
downloaded the latest DX4WIN, latest microHam router, and latest MMTTY
version. Somehow that stirred the pot enough that I could no longer send
RTTY thru DX4WIN and MMTTY. I just hate these mysteries but I can't
thank Joe enough for his suggestions and getting me back to normal
again. Now , WIN10 has another update slated for today I just hope I
don't get any more problems! Thanks and 73's Cort K4WI

Using some of the past backups, I was able to get everything back to normal

Spots show up normally in the Packet Window and are transferred as usual to
the "DX spots (DXCC) Sorted by Time" window except that the preference for
every spot is 9 and therefore all the info for every spot is gray.

I have the appropriate frequency and mode boxes checked in both the

I've tried the Help functions but don't see anything that addresses this

I'm sure it's a simple fix, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

twice instead of once. That put me into the DEMO mode, but it did more than
that. When I exited and reopened with one click I was back to square one
and all my settings, preferences, windows, etc. were gone. Strangely, the
data files in the save directory were still there.

Using some of the past backups, I was able to get everything back to normal
except for one thing:

Spots show up normally in the Packet Window and are transferred as usual to
the "DX spots (DXCC) Sorted by Time" window except that the preference for
every spot is 9 and therefore all the info for every spot is gray.

I have the appropriate frequency and mode boxes checked in both the
File>Preferences>Station tab and the File>Awards tab. In
File>Preference>Packet the color scheme for DXCC is checked and there the
colors are normal.

I've tried the Help functions but don't see anything that addresses this
specific problem.

I'm sure it's a simple fix, but I haven't been able to figure it out.

Any help would be appreciated.

Tnx es 73,

Joe, K1JB

Re: [Dx4win] Problem connecting a IC7600

2018-08-10 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Thanks for your suggestion Tibor.

I think something that the problem is the IC-7600 RIG file.

If I use ICOM 756 PRO III rig file and change the address to 7A Hex
everything works except if I press PSK on the radio, then the mode in the
log-window shows SSB. This is maybe how it should be if the PSK is
generated via the sound card in the rig.

I am not a programmer and can thus not compare the two RIG files.

Below I have added all the tests I have done and once again all settings
etc.

73 de Mel/SM0MPV

When I click on a spot in the band map or in the spot window the frequency
changes accordingly in the band map and in the logging window but after 1-2
s the frequency change back to the one seen on the radio. The mode has
changed both in the logging window and on the radio. However, if I change
the frequency or the mode on the rig it changes in DX4WIN. Thus, it is only
the communication of frequency from DX4WIN to the rig that does not work.

Everything works if I use N1MMplus or Ham Radio Delux.

I can connect to a Kenwood TS-590 with DX4WIN.

The problem remains if I connect another computer, this time with Windows
10 and 64-bit system.
N1MMplus works with IC-7600 and DX4WIN connection to the TS-590 works from
this computer.

I have changed cables and ports without success.

The remote jack (CI-V jack) has been both connected and unconnected to my
amplifier (SPE Expert 1K-FA) and it did not affect the result.

I have restarted the computer and the rig several times, but not in any
systematical way.

Re: [Dx4win] Problem connecting a IC7600

2018-08-06 Thread Mel SM0MPV
Thanks David,

I have just tested your RIG file too and I got the same result as earlier.
What I see is that when I click on a spot o the band map the program
changes frequency bet then very soon goes back to the first one. The
callsign for the spoted station remains in the QSO window. When I turn the
dial on the radio the frequency changes in the band map and in the QSO
window in DX4WIN.

I use the Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART bridge

I have the com port set to:
Bits per second: 9600
Parity: None
Stop bits: 1
Row control: None
It is Windos 7 Professional I use

The radio settings in DX4WIN are
ICOM 7600 _K2DBK, i.e. ON4AOI except the filter.
Address: 7A
Baud Rate: 9600
COM port: COM6
Poll rate (ms): 1000
Max tries: 6
DTR high and RTS high marked

I connect the the computer and the rig via an USB A and B cable

The settings in the radio are:
CI-V baud rate: 9600
CI-V Address: 7Ah
CI-V Tranceive: OFF
CI-V OutPut (for ANT): OFF
USB Serial Function: CI-V

I will later connect my SPE Expert 1K-FA amplifier to the rig. Since it can
just communicate with 9600 baud so I believe I am stucked with this baud
rate. The communication goes between the remote (CI-V) jack on the rig and
the RS 232 connection on the amplifier.

2018-08-06 Thread David Kozinn, K2DBK
Hi Mel,

I guess I have a couple of thoughts: Did you install the Icom USB driver?
You're supposed to do that before ever plugging in the radio, although I'm
not sure how important that is. I am guessing that you did since you said it
works with N1MM. I have my baud rate set to 19200 and the CI-V address set
to 7A. Here are the other settings since maybe this will help:

CI-V Transceive: Off
CI-V Output (for ANT): Off
USB Serial Function: CI-V

In DX4WIN, I have the poll rate set to 1000ms and Max tries set to 6.

I've attached a copy of the RIG file that I use. It's basically the same as
the standard 7600_500 except that I think I changed the filter to default to
off.

[Dx4win] Problem with 9.0.4.1176 LotW confirmations

2018-06-30 Thread Bob Henderson
I am having a problem with LotW confirmations. I have noticed this twice
recently. The first time a 6m Q with AP2AM was confirmed via LotW but when
the ADIF record was downloaded from LotW DX4WIN considered it a dupe and
did not update QSL status.

A similar incident has occurred today.

The following ADIF was dowloaded from LotW and imported using the Confirm
LotW option. Only the record for G4XXI was recognised as new and its QSL
status updated. The other 5 QSOs were reported as duplicates and their QSL
status was not updated.

Can someone help me understand whether I have a problem with the download
from LotW or a problem with DX4WIN handling the file?

I don't think it can be finger trouble as I have done this kind of update
hundreds of times.

Thanks.

Try deleting old packet spots (SAVE\DX4WIN.PUT). If that doesn't fix
it, try deleting your config file (SAVE\DX4WIN.CFG).

Re: [Dx4win] Problem with MMTTY Window

2018-02-13 Thread Stephen R. Veader

Well...

I found the answer...  During the CQ WPX this past weekend, I moved all
the MMTTY windows to the second screen to give me more room on the main
screen...  I normally leave the second screen turned off...  Yup as soon
as I turned the screen on, there was the MMTTY screen...  All I had to
do was to drag the MMTTY screen back to the main monitor...  Problem
solved...

Glad to find out it wasn't anything to do with DX4Win, just a forgetful
operator...

Hello Scott,

Version 9 now supports XML data from QRZ and that uses F3. For the old web
site lookup, use On the Ext Data tab, make sure you also have QRZ
Online selected as your data source and have Website callsign lookup enabled
with the check in the little box.

Re: [Dx4win] Problem with exporting LoTW

2017-10-12 Thread Ian Fugler
Hi, Sam

I upload to LOTW regularly as follows:

F8 (Search)

Date - enter the first date of the required export
- enter the last date of the required export. Note this assumes
that you have the date set to Range.

File>Import/Export>ADIF

Say yes to the question as to whether to use the active filter for the
export.

Save the exported ADIF file somewhere

Then use TQSL to upload that ADIF file.

It takes seconds and works fine

Hello everyone..

I have been having a problem with exporting to LoTW, and I am at my wit's
end trying to figure it out. After the recent CQWW rtty test I imported my
log from n1mm+ and I was successful with over 1500 contacts being imported.
I selected the "set LoTW flag" when I did this, and indeed the LoTW flag was
set to "Y" for all these contacts. When I then tried to export from DX4WIN
(8.5) for submission to the LoTW web site I got a message that only about
150 contacts were being exported. I then aborted the export and clicked N
to "do you want to clear the upload flag".

All my contacts (1500+) still have the LoTW flag set to "Y" but now when I
try to export I get the message that "Exports finished, no QSOs were
written".

I then tried to set the "Filter" function by creating a new group with the
Date Filter box checked and of course the first and last dates entered.
This did not work either. I know the answer is simple but for the life of
me I have not been able to find it.

What am I doing wrong?

Re: [Dx4win] Problem with exporting LoTW

2017-10-12 Thread Mike Cizek W0VTT
Hello Sam,

Do any of those QSOs show a LoTW upload date? Did you maybe have a filter
in place (looking for something in the log) when you did the export? Try
doing a filter by date for the contest weekend and select LoTW > Clear LoTW
Upload Date (whether or not an upload date is showing) and try the export
again. I agree it doesn't make sense. If all else fails, you can always
sign and upload the ADIF file from N1MM with TQSL.

It sounds like you exported and imported your log. There is no need
to do this. Simply copy the SAVE\N2MM.DXL file from the old to the
new computer.

In fact, it's really as simple as copying the entire DX4W805 directory
(and subdirectories) from the old to the new computer. Create a a
desktop shortcut to the dx4win.exe file, use it to start DX4WiN, and
open the N2MM log file from the current (new) SAVE directory.

See: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/appnotes/upgrade.html

Also make sure to update all your data files:

How did you transfer? If you IMPORTED to 8.05 from an export from another
major version, it would be another format and make sure you select the

not quite right. I had my contacts from my XP-machine saved on a flash
drive. I imported them to the WIN7 machine which has 8.05 on it. All
420K qsos imported very nicely except for one problem...All of my qso
info is gone; i.e.; names, qth's, etc. Only the call sign and all the
qsos related to the call sign appear..Just no information.

Any thoughts?

Carol

Re: [Dx4win] Problem Getting DX4Win to work on a new computer

2017-05-31 Thread David Kozinn, K2DBK

Hi Carol,

I'd argue that yes, you should upgrade, but there is a simple solution:

I found this in the archive from Paul from January 2005:

Paul,

The example given was for winNT/XP. For Windows/98 there is a different
driver and destination directory. From the on-line help:

for Win/95/98:
Windows\System\Vichw11.vxd

for Win/NT/2000/XP:
WinNT\System32\Divers\Vichw11.sys

I made some modifications in 6.04 to see if we can eliminate the problem.

The searchable mail archives are at
http://www.mail-archive.com/dx4win@mailman.qth.net/ and are a great
resource.

Hi Vassilis,

Until DX4WIN is updated to support more modes, log them using a mode
you will probably *never* use (say, Olivia). Then later on, you can
search for those QSOs and change the mode back to MSK144 (using
Multiple QSO operations).

In order to upload the ADIF file, you will have to edit the file you
export from DX4WIN, changing:

Olivia
-to-
MSK144

[Dx4win] Problem Installing the DX4WIN Updater program

2015-02-05 Thread Thomas Schwinn
I am having a problem installing the DX4WIN Updater program.

Here's what I have done

I have gone to this page: http://dx4win.ad1c.us/updater/index.html#install and
followed the information in this paragraph:

* If you have not installed the Updater program, click on this link to
download a ZIP file containing the Updater Program and configuration files, and
follow the installation instructions below.
Quick Start
* Download the ZIP file from the link above (where it says, "Click on
this link to download a ZIP file").
* Unzip the entire contents of this file into your DX4W### directory,
so the dx4wupd.exe program is in the same directory as dx4win.exe
* There will three new directories: dx4win6, dx4win7 and dx4win8. Copy
the dx4wupd.rc file from the directory that corresponds to your version of
DX4WIN, into the DX4W### directory (that contains dx4wupd.exe).
* Double-click on the dx4wupd.exe icon to run the updater.

Following the instructions provided in the "Quick Start" paragraph I clicked on
the link and the following file was downloaded::

dx4wupd_v6.07_20130729

Next, I followed the instructions in this next paragraph:

Installation
After downloading the ZIP file from the link above, extract (unzip) the
DX4WUPD.EXE file (program) to your DX4W### directory. This is the directory
where DX4WIN.EXE can be found (when viewed in Windows, there will be a dx4win
"Application" and a dx4win "Icon" in that folder). Do not put it in your SAVE
directory or anywhere else. When the Updater Program runs, it will check to see
if it's installed in the correct directory.

When I extracted or unzipped this file to my DX4WIN directory I got a file
labeled only as "Setup", not DX4UPD.EXE as in the paragraph above and this was
the only file included in the zipped file. I tried to delete this file and the
following warning information (asking if I was sure I wanted to delete this
file) was displayed that gave the name of this file as "DX4WIN Data Updater
Setup; File version 0.0.0.0; date created 7/28/13; 4.6 mb".

I ran this file and it placed a new (Updater) icon on my desktop but clicking
on that icon had no effect. Nothing happened.

I'm not sure why I can't find DX4UPD.EXE using the links provided in the
instructions.

I am using Win 7 Home Premium, 64 bit version and using DX4WIN v8.05.

Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong?
Thank you.

[Dx4win] problem with split mode

2014-04-19 Thread George
I am using a Kenwood TS-990 with the latest software version of DX4WIN.
This morning I clicked on a 80 meter CW spot (3.527 split 3.528) that
indicated a split frequency. I went to memory 1 to send my call in CW and
WOW I heard W2YJ in LSB.
You can imagine my surprise and embarrassment.
Till I figure this out I'll have to pay attention to the mode on VFO B.
I have the 80 meter CW cut-off set up in the DX4WIN parameters for 3.6Mhz CW
cut-off.
Is this a TS-990 problem or a TS-990 rig file problem.
Anyone have an idea?

[Dx4win] Problem filtering some spots into Talk Messages window

2013-06-02 Thread Jim Reisert AD1C
I'm trying to use the "Warning patterns" on the Packet 2 tab of
preferences to filter certain spots into my "Talk Message and
Announcements" window.

This is the pattern I'm looking for (it's in the last of the 5 slots):

DX DE W6RK*

Here is an example spot:

DX de W6RK: 14336.0 AC0HWdUTCHESS, ny SSB
1539Z

It's not working, nothing is showing up the other window.

Any ideas/suggestions? It's possible that DX4WIN intercepts all DX
spots before they can get checked by these patterns.

Try creating a new log file and see if the other windows open. It sounds
like maybe there's a problem with your log file.

Alternatively, if you have more than one log, try opening another log file.

Not if you're running 8.05 - this was fixed in that version. Once
checked, always checked, regardless of confirmation status.

Re: [Dx4win] Problem with LOTW and DX4WIN listing comparison?

2012-05-03 Thread Loren Hunt
Jim,The problem with doing this is it wants to submit even for countries that
have already been checked if they were submitted and checked as LoTW QSLs
previously. I just had both a paper and LoTW awards completed last month so my
new confirmed is under 25 or so. Everything else is marked as "Checked". I
un-clicked the LoTW box and did a Submission report. It came up with 66 new
ones to submit. Doing it the other way around (LoTW selected and paper not)
doesn't fare any better with 266 new ones...
What I thought was odd (even buggy) was that even if a band/mode was marked as
"checked" in the DXCC award field DX4WIN still put it on the list if it had
been checked as LoTW.
So I think this isn't what he was looking for. I think if you want to submit
one or the other it is a manual operation. When I couldn't find a way to do
it separate I just did them both at the same time.
By the way - I submitted the new style "online" form for my paper QSLs on the
first day it was available. I had updated numbers on the LoTW page in less than
2 weeks and my certificate in less than 3 weeks. So I like the new system. Good
going DXCC awards team!
73Loren, AD6ZJ
"
No program.  But if you go into the Awards manager (File | Awards),
and on the DXCC tab, in the upper-left box, uncheck LoTW (so only QSL
is checked), and perform the DXCC submission, then DX4WIN will only
try to submit paper QSLs, even if you also have a LoTW confirmation.
That may or may not be what you want.

2012-05-01 Thread Kostas Stamatis
I prefer an automated solution on this and i hope Paul will have it in next
version.
But until then with help of Jim's utility you can check only LotW confirmations
to count for DXCC and make a submission. After that check only cards
(file>awards) and make another submission. It should be work (at least with 805
version)... or not?

The DX4WIN listing does not differentiate between LOTW and Card received

I think someone wrote a program to do this?

The award flags don't work that way.

The only way to mark confirmed QSOs as Submitted or Checked is to do
a DXCC Submission.

This can only do one of two things.

1. Change one award flag type to another (i.e. Submitted to Checked)

2. Clear award flags.

[Dx4win] problem changing award flags

2011-04-03 Thread Jeffrey Pawlan
I had converted and also entered around 1600 QSOs into dx4win and I am current
with all 8.05 files and updates.

Because of the file conversion, I was only able to check the Confirmed box
appropriately for each QSO but I did not have the means of automatically
Confirming the DXCC award submissions for these (mixed, band, and mode).

Every one of the confirmed QSOs was submitted to the ARRL by the manual card
checking process. Now I want to accomplish the following logical operation in
dx4win but it is not working per the information in the support website:

if Cfrm = Y
then set DXCC MIXED to c; DXCC BAND to c; DXCC MODE to c
if Cfrm is not = Y then do nothing

I tried doing this within Reports...Award FlagsChange Award Flags...
DXCC Mixed, Band and Mode.Action = Submitted -> Checked
but for each and every possible combination the number 0 always appears and
dx4win will not allow me to change that.

I want to do this without going through the comparison to the lotw site.

Is there a step I am missing or is it not currently possible?
Changing 1600 records one by one is getting very tiring.

[Dx4win] problem fixed

My thanks to Jim, AD1C, for fixing the ACLog ADIF problem. I now have all
538 W0C calls in DX4WIN and will be able to keep track of the QSL requests
as to S/R. I was not looking forward to keeping track of QSL's with the
other program. My radio club will now have a permanent record of our special
event.

Are there any errors generated by DX4WIN when you try to import the adif file?

What you might be able to do is to open the adif file using a text
editor and look for a QSO that's not getting successfully imported.
Perhaps there's some field in the AClog file that DX4WIN doesn't
recognize. Once you identify the problem you can fix the log so it'll
import.

You could also see if there's some other format that AClog can use for
export that DX4WIN understands.

[Dx4win] Problem

2011-03-10 Thread Dick White
My club recently had a special event operation, W0C. It was logged on
another computer using the N3FJP logger ACLog 3.0. The file reads
"AclADIF.adi". I do have the AClog 3.0 on my hard drive, but never use it.
The log was sent to me in ADIF format. I have tried to import it to my
DX4WIN log with no success. Of the 538 Q's I get just 214 of them in a new
file that I created. Yes, I have one dummy call in the new log. No matter
how I try to import the log it will not put all 538 calls in the log.

Anyone have any experience with this combination that can help me ?

[Dx4win] problem with DX Desktop import

2011-01-26 Thread Jeffrey Pawlan
Prior to buying DX4Win I had been using DX Desktop on Win98 for decades. Since
Earl passed away, it is unsupported. I was able to partially import my logs of
more than 20 years into DX4win but none of the frequency fields came through. I
had always entered the actual frequency of the contact and not just the band.
Of course DX Desktop predated any of the current file export formats.

Is there anything that can be done to fix this in DX4win so the frequencies are
put in my new DX4win log? There are more than 1200 entries so I do not want to
do it by hand.

Re: [Dx4win] Problem with Filter selection

2010-12-03 Thread Lee Hallin
Hi Bob,

I think it has to do with your "User Level". Go to File -> Preferences and
look at the "User Level". It is likely Regular. Try Advanced or Expert. I
think once you save the change, you need to exit DX4WIN and get back in for the
change to take effect.

Hi guys

I have needed to install DX4WIN on a different computer to the one I mostly
use. The installation was successful but I find Files, Selection & Files,
Edit Group Names to be both greyed out. No doubt there is some kind of
switch to enable these functions but despite a search I have failed to find
it. The facility worked fine on my other computer. Reading the electronic
manual hasn't so far led to a solution. As I have used multiple calls in
one compound log, I need to filter on group names to make sense of cluster
input.

I would really appreciate some help in getting to the bottom of this.

Many thanks.

[Dx4win] problem adding PJ4 to country file - DX4WIN v5.03

2010-11-21 Thread Scott Ginsburg
I'm having trouble getting my PJ4 QSO on 10/10/10 to show
up in the DXCC listing report and bandmap window. The QSO
window shows Bonaire OK however.

Here's what I did:

1. deleted the Netherlands Antilles and Saba, etc and
created new deleted entities PJ2/D and PJ7/D with end
dates 10/09/2010, including mapping entries

2. added PJ2 Curacao and PJ4 Bonaire with start dates
10/10/2010, including the PJ2 and PJ4 mapping entries

If I add a new QSO using today's date for PJ4 the listing is updated
OK. If I add a new QSO for any date up and including 10/21/10
the listing is not updated, but a new QSO added with date
10/22/10 or later shows up in the listing. It's as if there is a
conflicting mapping entry.

If I use the latest .cty file available for download,
my 10/10/10 QSO shows up OK in the listing window.

Any ideas?

tnx and 73,
Scott, K1OA

[Dx4win] problem adding PJ4 to country file - DX4WIN v5.03 - problem solved

2010-11-21 Thread Scott Ginsburg

Figured it out, my 30 day worked cut-off date
was the culprit.

Sorry for wasting the bandwidth.
