Had there been any uptick in the exodus, however,
you would have probably noticed. Just wondered
if enough people throw up their hands for it to register.

My understanding is that Jerry held 4 million back when M said to

That whole 'take the ATR credit' scheme is what me in trouble. The
only thing is that "the cash back after initiating 100 and you get
your third month of Siddhi's at $250 cheaper" tripped over it and I
did get my ATR back in cash (and blacklisted from courses for awhile).

Just curious, with so many references to Brahman on this list over the

Hello Mr. akasha_108,

Namsate
Deepest Respect

This "Brahman" thingy never existed until 1827 when the "Brahmo
Samaj" was established by Raja Ram Roy while employed by the East
Indian Company. The evolution of the spelling took several decades,
until Sir Monier-Williams wrote a book called "Brahmanism and
Hinduism". Then "Brahmo Samaj" became Brahman Samaj. (And, Raja Ram
Roy wrote of natural law and the God-as Supreme Govenor of such "law",
one hundred years before Lil Mahesh.)

There were probably a number of instances which were all expressions of
Jerry's growing independence. He was critical of the siddhis, of the ATR
rip-off... He pursued the NJ court case when M told him to drop it. Too bad
he didn't make a clean break. Reportedly, he's still in limbo-land.

My understanding of that event is exactly as Rick reports it - that MMY ordered
the
draining of ATR accounts, Jerry was upset, and that was the reason Jerry was no
longer
welcome in the TMO - he had expressed - in front of MMY - his reservations
about taking
earned ATR points away from teachers. I recall that we all assumed that the
TMO really
needed the money for some higher purpose, or some project. Besides, everyone
was
afraid to speak up about their true feelings because there was the very real
possibility of
being blackballed from further participation in teaching or ATR. Cause if
Jerry could be
given the cold shoulder, anyone could.

Yes, I understand Peter.

As long as you continue to comparmentalize wholeness into little
domains, and feel the need to keep tracking all your different
dharmas blazing in your mind, you will continue to feel the need to
play dharma cop -- and to continue to cite people for your own
internal vision of dharmic conflicts of the One Eternal Dharma.

Cite away.

As GH said: Beware of darkness. All things must pass.

Who in the Mvt had authority over Jerry Jarvis at that time? Of course he
ordered it. He has always been directly involved in policies and decisions
much smaller than that one. Even if someone else came up with the idea, he

Well, for the mind/body aka Peter, there was no doer of the
initiations, and thus no thief claiming ownership of the action, and
thus no thief claiming ownership of the ATR credit.

And the blazing Brahman mind/body aka MMY, was not a thief of the action
of canceling all ATR credits.

Thus it appears nature was working on nature, adjusting karmic account
consistent with Eternal Dharma. No thief, no victim, no foul.

So where in the Brahaman is the problem?

If you were a Vaidya of high repute, if someone approached you and said "we want to revive the science of Ayurveda and make it available to the world" you'd probably bite. And bite they did, until they realized their secrets were being sold, their formulas mass-produced as the most expensive rasayanas on the planet and their therapies were priced for the wealthy, affluent and famous. And it was watered down for the western mindset, things that would offend were removed and it was packaged and sold.

It is interesting but also very
sad.-It is very interesting.  Is it
enslaving?  There's  a good bit of choice involved. Much of it is
moral choice.  MMY appeals to peoples moral choices, as any religious
figure does.  My guess is that many of these, so called, slaves are would
be just as enslaved to their own moral code regardless of their idol. As I did
once, I also put all thought of a larger world out of mind for the sake of peace
of mind. But the larger world just wouldn't quit. Also, I couldn't beat it so I
joined it. And I'm grateful for my choice. When I look back at the Movement I
see myself and my desires, not really much more than that. I did what I wanted
including bleaching and dying my hair red when I came off of THP and totally
blowing their minds. That was a feeling walking into the domes before
superradiance with my hair two tone. Anyone remember that kid?

Triguna-ji has always seemed to be a free agent,
independently working with spiritual movements that
seek his knowledge. I know he's worked with Sri Sri

I doubt they wanted him to sign a pledge that stated
MMY was his guru. But I'm sure they wanted him to sign
a contract that put him on the short end of a
financial arrangement and also severally restricted or
curtailed any ayurvedic activity outside of the TMO. I
saw Dr. Ladd when he came to Ffld in the mid 80's.
Nice guy.

What did he say?
(Even when Chopra first came in with the TMO, adn for several
years, and EVERYONE else thought he was a god, I had a clear sense
he would leave and start his own (rather superficial) movement.)

Vaj,

I had also heard that he did not like the financial arrangements. Does
that jive with what you know?

BTW, I asked Chropra the question about why he left the TMO after the
book signing. Not exactly one-on-one, but with only a few in earshot.

UGH. Being Indian and perhaps eclectic, nonjudgmental and mature in his views,
Ladd
must have been clueless about the TMO m.o to have gotten so close to being
installed and
not have had suspicions about the whole loyalty thing. He seems to have done

So you actually believe that Chopra was trained in Ayurveda by
Maharishi? Interesting.

There was actually someone on the list just the other day who kindly
relayed one of the primary reasons Chopra left--which he heard from
Chopra himself at a book signing. If you are familiar with the JAMA
case, and given the fact you seem to live vicariously thru the

It is also fairly well known what happened to Vasant Lad and the
movement. Pretty sick. A friend who trained on the physicians course in
Fairfield told lots of stories about what went on with Chopra. Bottom
line: I'm amazed he didn't leave sooner.

And what happened to Trigunaji and Balraj? They seem most conspicuous

There may be some who claim that all who leave the TMO need to be
labeled as pathological, but I am not doing so. Chopra, however, is
so arrogant as to qualify for the label "pathological" in my opinion,
and in the opinion of a number of writers who have interviewed him or
otherwise examined his work since leaving the TMO.

To say that only Chopra can say why he left the TMO is ridiculous --
everybody has a right to think about the behavior of public figures,
and Chopra is such a public figure, who would still be just another
M.D. in Boston if MMY had not given him the knowledge of Ayurveda and
other Vedic knowledge, which he has spun into a huge personal fortune.

MMY has said that people stop meditating because the high stress
levels in the world do not permit people to be happy -- this does not
make people who quit TM "pathological," but the current world
certainly is pathological, disease-producing.

If that loopy web site of his, where he claims all sorts of esoteric
knowledge and describes his battles with demons and bestows the lofty
title of Viswamitra (one of the great sages of Vedic lore) on
himself, does not convince you he's flipped out, well, you are
certainly entitled to an opinion until you finish the recert course,
but being a clever software programmer does not mean somebody is not
otherwise nuts. There are currently several books out about the
relationship at Princeton between Kurt Godel and Einstein. Godel was
a brilliant logician, but stark raving mad, which is why Princeton
took many years before they finally granted him tenure. One of
Godel's obsessions was that his refrigerator was poisoning him -- to
humor him, Einstein took out a patent on a refrigerator design that
would appease Godel's fears. http://www.mhcan.org/Resources/fmcrzy.htm

That's true, that TMO mgmt is "birds of a feather," and that feather is
crackpot thinking, but that does not mean that Chopra is not a crackpot
who just happened to be even more arrogant than other TM bureaucrats
and had to leave to have more liebensraum for his ego.

Why does someone who once was with the TMO have to
labeled as pathological when they leave it? In my
encounters with Chopra I found him to be a very decent
guy, far from the egomaniac that some people try to
smear him with. The only person that knows why he left
the TMO is Chopra and he appears to be decent enough
to not bad mouth the TMO or MMY (that's left to us
here on FFL!). People can leave the TMO and MMY, even
stop meditating for perfectly normal, healthy,
non-pathological reasons.

I did like Chopra's first several books, and originally he was
personable enough, certainly, to do the job for the TMO, but I think
he began to lose his glue when he over-meditated in order to hop
during yogic flying. I think he felt that a big shot like himself
needed to be a good yogic flier, so he piled on the meditation, and
his behavior became bizarre (although he was said to have become a
pretty good hopper) -- it's like that guy on Purusha who felt that he
was not doing enough to get enlightened, and started intense
meditation that was way beyond what he should have been doing.
Ignoring all the warning signs of excessive meditation, he finally
flipped out:

http://tinyurl.com/4dphk

There are people who can handle almost any amount of meditation, but
Chopra was not one of them, having been before he started TM just
another doctor with plenty stress (and booze/cigarette habits IIRC)
stored in his nervous system.

Have to look it up.

He seemed sincere to me, and mad about it besides.
I attended 2 WPA's that he lead in the 90's - liked him. Good speaker.

Strictly a cover story -- the fact is that Chopra's ego, big as all
outdoors, could no longer fit in the TMO, and so he left. A good
portrait of his arrogance and bizarre behavior is in Esquire magazine
issue of Oct 1995, "Deepak Chopra has a..snff... cold"

Well sure - the whole enlightenment / ignorance duality is only useful
until it's not. Till it's transcended that is. Saying that it's just
another ignorant duality doesn't negate relative responsibility, it
just makes the BS visible.

It's ingenious they have actually figured out how to 'pillage and
plunder' (make money) while seeming disempowering everyone AND (almost
) making them feel good about it! While everything is moved to India.

10 years ago I thought that the fragmentation of the knowlege behind
TM (Deepak, Pundiji et all) was a bad thing ... now it may work out to
be the key to it's survival.

I'll present 2 options, feel free to chose:
a. If you have used Vedic match you would have come with better #s.
Your thinking is too linear, the solution comes from a higher
dimension.

b. The whole cert program is just for PR purpose and more importantly
to check the world consciousness. 550 proves still work needs to be
done.

I didn't know that Bob. I've asked him directly why he left the TMO
when he did a book signing at the Himilayan Institute and he said a
few sentences about the TMO not standing behind him during the
JAMA/Ayruvedic products lawsuits.

Speculation. That's why I said "may have." I don't know anyone's particular
situation. Maybe all 550 were just sitting around doing nothing special with
no prior commitments.

Or perhaps both sides are part of the same illusion.

Crest Jewel provides some insight IMHO.

Even when thoroughly eradicated, a great sense of doership can revive
again and create a hundred different distractions, if it is once dwelt
on again for a moment in the mind, like monsoon rain-clouds driven on
by the wind. 309

One should never permit carelessness in one's adherence to God.
"Carelessness is death" (Mahabharata 5.42.43) says the Master
(Sanatkumara) who was of Brahma's son. 321

Just as the algae cleared off water does not stay off even for a
moment, so illusion obscures the sight of even a wise man whose mind
is outward-directed. 324

==

While original intentions of spiritual regeneration may have been very
pure and ispiring, by constantly interacting with charming apsaras*
like Jennifer, April and all, as they were in the day, can act like
algae even on the realized. "Carelessness is death".

*(beautiful damsel of the Kingdom of Heaven ruled by Indra. She tries
to test the steadfastness of a sadhaka by way of temptations. Example,
Apsara Menaka and Rishi Vishwamitra )

'real' businessmen? :-)

They wouldn't even take the time to state what you think is the
obvious - they'd just move on.

Time is money.

'universally accepted principles of business' :-)

Do you think there is world of 'universal agreement' out there on the
prospects of planned business..?

What Universe do you live in?

this PC psychological manipulation of the spiritual desire to help

using ones ignorance against them and it really pisses me off!

It could do more harm than good. Many of these 550 people may have

Okay, I am replying to my own posting (Frasier, you may not be far
away from seeing a new client ringing your doorbell).

I was suddenly stung by guilt by the posting below (there may be some
truth to what is said in it) - but consider this:

You're invited to take up a position in an IT-startup company. The
business plan is wild and as full of holes as prospects for making
everyone a billionaire.

How to approach this opportunity?

By whining that if this company plan does not work: Oh man, we will
become even greater whiners than we were before.?

Full of excitement but with caution?

Here's a suggestion: take 2-6 months of one's regular job to give it a
try - whilst ensuring there's enough change on the account to pay the
bills for the selected trial period.

If it works - excellent!

If not, go back to what one did before.

The TMO is a stage, a sprititual battle field - it has no existence of

That people some people will probably be financially ruined by this program is
sad, even
though they are, in effect, volunteers. That a "big chuck of the remaining core
may end up
disuillusioned" is a good thing, in my opinion. Why would we wish that they
remain bound
up in denial and surrender to a dying cult?

But in reality, and with a view that new teachers must be +30 and
existing teachers are in the 50-70s, how many would take such a blind
leap of faith without reflecting on the possible outcomes before doing so?

I am sure they're all aware of wonderfully crazy things at times goes..

Johny & Bob,

I'm surprised by your negativity towards the rectification course,
you would probably call it 'being realistic' or such.
but know one thing , if MMY had that pattern of thinking towards
world enlightenment then he would have stayed the woods to begin with.

George,
I have read your posts here and in alt.mediation.transcendental for
a long time - clear, accurate, level ... but I haven't made myself
clear, I guess. I wonder if Maharishi is going to teach the
recertification course like he taught the millionares courses?

In order to teach there must be people who want to learn. Pratically
at $2400 there are no students. The need to know who is ready to teach
is met by the "teach full time and we'll pay you" plan. The
recertification is just an expensive pileing on.

BTW, I'm not really worried about teaching the kids (if the student
is ready - the teacher will...), it's just the principle of it.

I know that it will fall apart, Bob. It's just seems to be one final
stab at what was the heart of the TMO (couched in flowery politically
correct language, of course).

In message http://groups.yahoo.com/group/FairfieldLife/message/46962
the Atlanta Raja says that:

"Currently it appears that there will not be another course exactly
like the 15 day and 30 day courses starting April 4."

The fact that the Vedic City course is the only one that's going to
happen, and it's not full, should be a tipoff that the enthusiasm for
this recert program is "muted," and unlikely to have a very long shelf
life because of its implausibility and unworkability, logistically and
financially.
